there's two americas, the modern and developed one with about half of the countrys population, made up mostly of east coast (think NY, DC, PA, VA , MA and some other states in that area) and west coast (California and maybe Seattle). Everything else is referred to as flyover, because you fly over it to get from east coast to west coast and vice versa.

XP is a fine OS by itself if never hooked up to the internet, as soon as you hooked it to the network, youd be infected by the worm blaster and your computer would shut down within a minute, and even after that had been stopped, i literally saw a fresh install of windows XP get infected by malware I watched the program files folder increase just because we hooked the ethernet cable. UX design is important, the problem is ornamental crap and giving in to users who buy into the cheap thrill of endless novelty. consistency is good, not bad. if windows now is "like windows 10 years ago" that means it hasn't done a complete 360 to the point where it's unrecognisable. good. we shouldnt reinvent the wheel every decade. "as little design as possible" should be the principle, like rams said. i find it amazing how little UX designers actually follow that idea and focus on polishing rather than flashy new shit, dunno if it's bad designers or CEOs pushing them to add more trendy flat colorful elements so shit sells better
