VMWare is infinitely superior to CurryBox freetard shit.

VMWare > Hyper-V >>> ESXi >>>>>>> QEMU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Virtualbox
Hyper-V
Virtualbox if you need snapshots, VMware otherwise.
dude.. how did you manage to fuck up your brain that bad ?
Vmware > qemu+kvm > virtualbox
ESXi is from VMWare, idiot.
has vmware the same issues passing through nvidia consumer cards to the VMs as qemu/kvm ?
esxi is vmware mongloid
vmware overall provides the most comfortable to use environment, from free to enterprise plus. pci passthrough is a lot more reliable than on any open source available virtualization platform, the documentation is far better than any foss shit, but still pretty awful in few cases.
virtualbox is a fucking joke and doesn't even provide usb 2 without payed support. if you'd want to compare vmware with vbox, vmware is lego technic, and vbox is fisherprice.
kvm does more or less what vmware does but has a lot more bugs, has the most awful management interfaces, from desktop client to webinterface and the documentation on things like live migration is pretty fucking awful and inconsistent.
xen is god damn awful and only partially supported by linux anyway, a clear signal to not touch it, ever.
never worked with hyperv, no clue. i assume it's shit because its microsoft
shut up and show a little bit compassion for the poor crack baby
depends on your chipset, lookup the specs and check the kb, you are a big boy aren't you?
Can i play visual novels in those? Will audio/video degrade or performance be complete shit?
Is it available for win plebs?
google is available for win plebs, that should get you started
no because you need a hypervisor that has support for VMs and windows can't into VMs
Hyper-V, faggot
Everything is available in google yet people like to discuss things and ask people HERE.
this post is fake news
hyper-v is even worse than bhyve.
that fucking joke can't even pass through gpus.
or you could have literally written that question in google yourself and get an appropriate result
ESXi 6.5
The problem isnt with VMware, its with Nvidia. They gimp the GeForce drivers so they wont load in virtualized environments. Its easy to bypass in ESXi however, just add hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = false to the VMX file and they'll load just fine. Also set CPU reservations to 100% and latency sensitivity to high otherwise you'll have minor stuttering when playing video. Pic related.
Please respond.
Id rather ask here. Im lonely and want to communicate.
oh and also you can install esxi inside esxi or workstation and all resources will be passed through as if it wasn't a guest
I use VirtualBox to provide a Win7+MSVC environment from an OSX host. It's fast enough for my needs, MSVC's UI doesn't lag which is really all I need. In fullscreen I can't really tell that it's not running on metal.
VMWare would probably be better, but I don't make enough from my work to justify buying it and pirating it sounds like hassle.
>install virtualbox + guest additions
>installs dkms modules
>shut down and return next day
>system wont login to DE because dkms modules fucked with X11
i have decided to never again use oracle
i believe that that's only possible with certain chipsets, independet of your vmx settings
>i believe that that's only possible with certain chipsets, independet of your vmx settings
No. All PCIe passthrough requires VT-d which in turn is dependent on chipset. GeForce passthrough however either requires changing the PCI device ID to make the OS think its a Quaddro card, or having the hypervisor tell the OS it is NOT being virtualized. The VMX setting does the latter.
just get any freaking serial and you are good. vmware earns enough to literally not give a shit about workstation licenses, and even if, they are 100$, so not even expensive if you could afford it. eitherway serials[dot]ws is your friend
oh well, i guess i learned something new, thanks. to bad i don't use intel
Ayymd supports PCIe passthrough too, but everything i've heard about it has been bad. And on top of that VMware doesnt support Ryzen and it is unknown if they ever will because of Intel's dominance.
i know they do but vt-d is not amv or whatever it is called. i don't think vmware will close its doors to amd, thinking that ryzen threading is really impressive compared to intel. the only reason they wouldn't want to go there is because the ratio socket * cores per board would be higher for intel than anything starting ryzen, which would decrease licensing cost
iommu works perfectly fine with kvm, not sure about vmware.
for what cases does it work perfectly? as far as i can remember it, cpu, mainboard and graphics card had to be of a certain model, otherwise pass through was impossible
every amd cpu produced within the last 8 years supports it, as well as every chipset that came after the 790fx.
all amd gpus work find, nvidia quardo cards, and some nvidia consumer cards, others need some tweaking
it was intel who jewed people on iommu (they disabled it in all older k series cpus)
>every amd cpu produced within the last 8 years supports it, as well as every chipset that came after the 790fx.
BIOS has to support it to, and since AyyMD is oriented towards budget users, they dont always do so
communities.vmware.com
wiki.xen.org
ok so proably idiots who bought boards with a fucked up bios can't use it. same as the retards who bought the jewed intel cpus.
youtube.com
Virtual Machine porn or gore depending one how you look at it.
And even when it supports ACPI IVRS it isnt usual for the entries to become corrupt
>using anything by oracle
nah thats easy to fix.. i have a board where asus fucked up the bios but still managed to get it to work. you can just remap them. but i'll never buy a asus board again
vmware has snapshots too you fuck
qemu kvm
Virtualbox and VMWare are ok but they are non-free with PITA kernel modules and don't offer anything over qemu.
Someone red pill me on QEMU/KVM?
VirtualBoxFag here since ever on Windows and on Linux because of the easy to use GUI.
QEMU has a ease-to-use GUI like VBox?
Can I run QEMU on Windows with >= performance than VBox?
Thanks Anons
Is it me or there's just way too many anos like taking sides with the software and they don't know shit about how the others work?
virt-manager
yeah, just look at all those linux and windows shills being retarded and blaming it on the OS
I tried few, virtualbox I liked the best
>QMEU-KVM
too much bother, fucked up mouse, feeling slow, bit retarded community
>VMware workstation
clean, beautiful, feature rich, but mouse integration felt bit off, while it fucked up my global hotkeys and gestures
>hyper-v
well done, everything fell under control, loved the control in virtual networking, but Iam on linux
>virtualbox
all around great, no issues, easy setup, best mouse integration
VirtualBox
you cant use it on windows, its all about kernel virtualization
if you cant be bothered to google that shit on your own, you wont be able to make qemu/kvm comparable to vbox or vmware
Kill yourself, you dumb fucking shit stain.
problem with virtualbox is that it is piece of shit for non basic things (some serious bugs nobody willing to fix)
so vmware
and yet the only thing on your list that actually works is qemu/kvm
>and yet the only thing on your list that actually works is qemu/kvm
Plus it actually uses snapshots correctly and doesn't lose data unlike LOLVirtualbox
