Stop using GUIs.
Stop using GUIs
Amen
Michael?
No. Fun. Allowed.
Yeah, it's 2017, everything should be a web app now.
Terminal niggers, not everything needs command line, not everything needs a GUI
Good post
Mah nigga.
What about ncurses ?
Ncurses is just colored text characters, like ANSI graphics.
Still, it's kind of a borderline case. I'd love to follow OP's dogma but I need precisions on this.
>ncurses
GUI. Might be done with characters, but it's a GUI.
True command line or death. Use ed. Down with the tyranny of vi!
Its effect (as it is commonly used) is visual and so doesn't change the working of the system. Should be fine.
All you need to control your computer is tmux and vim.
Now I'm confused with the rules.
> Vi is tyranny,
> Vim is okay,
Seems to look like a true religion, I'm in.
vi != vim
One of us.
One of us.
One of us.
name 1 (one) non-autistic reason for me not to use GUI
The working of the system?
Your user flow and the behavior of input/output is changed between an ncurses display, window display and line feeder in any case. I think sensei was most worried about the effect on user's mental state which i can tell you from experience is very different when you use emacs or cat or lynx or wget+cat
Avoid using a mouse.
not an argument
Autists prefer bright static displays to overwhelming 10,000+ characters on the screen to parse. So it actually distances your puckered up ass from autism.
Anything that e.g. xterm can handle?
You used one just now to post.
Obviously if he's even against TUIs, he's against any vi implementation, including Vim.
Because despite them being mainstream for nearly 30 years they still can't get the basics down right.
I think that it's all about just knowing what's happening. `mc` is far more convenient for simple and quick tasks than entering the commands (especially if you're wanting to bounce around a lot), but it's really just a wrapper for console commands.
What about irssi, mutt, rtorrent … or just install Emacs.
Consider ranger i/o mc
Ranger is good, but not very stable.
But OSX has a unix command line. What's the problem?
i can instantly highlight the exact part of text or code that i want. instantly means like tenths of a second. you think you do it fast with a keyboard? i can do it twice if not three times as fast. the mouse is brilliant piece of technology that can only be bested by literal telepathy with your computer. not even touch screen can compete with it.
back to Sup Forums you fucking autistic nigger. when op tells me to avoid something he better give me a reason why.
nice spin. still no reason not to use GUI
>welp. (((they))) can't get the basics down right so i should stop using a piece of technology that makes my life 10 times easier
One vision. One purpose.
> i can instantly highlight the exact part of text or code that i want. instantly means like tenths of a second. you think you do it fast with a keyboard? i can do it twice if not three times as fast.
Please take into account the time required to move from and to your keyboard.
i already include that rofl. how much of a fat slug are you?
Tenths of a second for a round trip + selection ? Sure you do.
