What the FUCK is his problem?

I've been seeing alot of ads lately on Firefox, like popups galore. I have most of the scripts, and they're updated. Is this just a fact of life now, or are there better options? Has Gorhill given up?

Other urls found in this thread:

>Not using Adblock Plus

I also keep seeing ads all the time, and its built-ni anti-adblock killer seems to be failing to do its job

I've been getting ads on Sup Forums (mostly Sup Forums) that show up in the middle of the fucking page between threads.

I think his autism is either flaring up, or waning atm. Either way, he's not doing his job.

I just may switch. Is it much better? How about resource-wise?

mot getting anything out of the ordinary here but i've got some adblocking at the router level to.

>2015+2 of our lord not blocking everything before it reaches your computer

retards.

>2+0+1+7

everyone has a price

I think the only time it's failed me is when my browser resizes a castamp embed it has a small chance of turning off because the player refreshes when it resizes and thus it can fail to recognize castamp popping up again, but that's a really specific case and it's more a problem with castamp being flash-based instead of html.

Works on firefox nightly.

I'm using adguard. Works fine.

QUESTION FOR OP:
Your using Ublock Origin, not Ublock right?

I made the mistake of getting "normal" Ublock and ad's were fucking everywhere.

Using Ublock Origin. Not a single add is displayed.

You are doing it wrong, goyim.

>not blocking ads through the hosts file
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

Yes, Ublock Origin

if you're willing to try out an non-free solution, Adguard's AdBlocker is very good botnet-alternative.

only a retard would clog the host file like that

no wonder you use nano, why don't you just `sudo gedit /etc/hosts` while you're at it

lol okay faggot enjoy your ads I bet you watch ads on your phone like a good goy

>there's retards that don't use origin on their phone
owow

>Firefox

good luck blocking ads in apps

>resource wise
what's the point of falling for the 16GB meme and buying 7700k?

My daily driver is Core2Duo 2GB RAM. It matter to me lol

Huh, I don't get any ads at all, Chrome of Firefox. Did you leave the third-party filters to their defaults, if so, that isn't enough. Try enabling all of them then disable from there and see what works for you.

>that passive-aggressive shit
i fucking hate µblock now

There is nothing passive-aggressive about presenting facts and debunking myths.

It's only natural you get mad when people spread lies about your software.

If it doesn't just hide them, why are there times where you will see an element you have filtered for a split second before it disappears?

Because filters come in two varieties, Element hiding rules (see: Block Element) and Host blocking
You can't block an element from loading that is given by the page's own HTML cunt.

Element blocking rule example: allmusic.com#@#.advertising
Host blocking rule example:
||104.198.198.188^

Do research before you shitpost so hard, you can at least look inside EasyList (used by basically every content blocker) to figure this out.

Funny, because if I hide the same element with ABP I never see it, not even for a split second. Just saying.

NetGuard/AFWall+. Blocks apps from connecting to internet completely. NetGuard can even import hosts to block domains.

uMatrix and noscript.
You niggers.

Nice thread, adblock shill

>Not using both

The problem is that you aren't updating your lists so new ads can creep through.

HOW WILL APB EVER RECOVER??

>not using a combo of uBlock+uMatrix+Adblock Plus+Ghostery
get out of my Sup Forums

>2 uHide ads on 1 page
disgusting

>this shit again
I swear ABP shills are the most pointlessly annoying shill I've ever seen.

>Adblock Plus
>Ghostery

FUCK YOU BOTNET

>Muh botnet

You're probably posting this from an android phone

Even without any content blocker, I still don't get any ads. Wtf are you tech illiterate idiots doing?

The fuk are u on about|?

I have the same but no ads....

AdAway / MinMinGuard

You have root / xposed on your Android, don't you?

>NetGuard can even import hosts to block domains.
Why isn't that version on Fdroid?

It is.

>We are living in year 10
Yeah, don't think so

Idiot Tripfag being idiot

=10....

>using Firefox

Not trying to spread shitpost, but it actually happen a lot now.
I've seen a lot of pop-up from some sites, i notice them using strange string of random numericals and alphabets as their url names.
Is this the reason why they can bypass the block?
Already updating and reinstall my ublock, still happening.

Help.

>not using W10+Edge+experimental uO build
I see nothing but relevant content

blame the filter list administrators

Are your whitelists working?

You can:
- custom filter those URLs yourself (= headache)
- wait for host file admins to update their lists (= headache)
- (In ascending order of site breakage) at the least (1) global block 3rd party frames [not likely to do much], (2) 3rd party scripts, or (3) 3rd party and then local noop or individually noop from the log until the website is functional. One level further is to global block 1st party scripts and then local noop or individually noop from the log until the website is functional (~OK)
- umatrix + ublock: umatrix offers a more elegant solution to the previous suggestion, but may require your patience to learn to use it.

...

Adjust your filter list.

Install gentoo

UPDATE YOUR FILTERS YOU DUMB BITCH

Read the OP stupid, all my filters are updated.

There is more to the web than youtube. It still blocks youtube ads, but others slip through. For instance, while watching porn the pages look like they don't have an adblocker at all, and most pop-ups get through

Well I don't get any ads

Porn sites are very aware of adblockers and route their advertisements through their own server, meaning you'd need to use uMatrix (something you should be using anyways) to specifically block that 1st-party connection, and then use the cosmetic filter to remove that part of the page.

Otherwise it's being "seen" as just a regular image you'd want to actually see.

You're wrong!
Porn sites don't have the money for that.
What they do is use a service for pics and shit and route their images through that and if you block their image service the porn site will look like crap.
Good thing is they use the ads in placeholders that you can hide with cosmetic filters.

Yeah, gelbooru somehow makes adds appear when ublock origin is active and removes them when it is disabled. Some kind of weeb trickery.

ublock more like uhide. i mean there is no denying it at this point the only thing that is being blocked by this extension are the pictures. inb4 abp shill.i dont even know how people can use a "blocker"(read as hider) that is literally worse than not using an adblocker.

retards

Ublock Origin plus Reek's Anti AdBlock Killer

github.com/reek/anti-adblock-killer

Read the Github Page for Reek's Anti Adblock Killer.

Checking the box in Ublock Origin isn't enough, you have to install another extension like Greasemonkey on Firefox for example if you want the Anti Adblock Killer to work.

Just read the github page.

As for ads managing to get through, that isn't Gorhill's fault.

Try to message or make a forum post on the sites responsible for the filter lists and tell them that ads are somehow managing to get through.

No, Ublock Origin has been falling behind lately compared to Adblock Plus.

>shilling this hard

Funny since uBlock is the thing that came out of nowhere with an army of shills.

Use opera, use the built in blocking and ublock and everything will be fine

It sounds like ABP is blocking it before it renders, which most likely means ABP is artificially slowing down/blocking the rendering to do its work. I'm guessing uBlock works asynchronously, so sometimes the rendering process gets to an element before uBlock does.

tl;dr ABP is intentionally slowing down page rendering.

I just installed uMatrix to help with scripts and it handles ads just fine. You only have to do a little extra clicking the first time you visit a site to clean up any misses.

Gorhill doesn't maintain the block lists.

Not having a whole-home ad blocking DHCP /DNS server

Not an argument

You can't use a host file to block websites from another file to make updating it easy.

>uMatrix
My nig. Just found this a few weeks ago. It's good shit.

I noticed it a couple months ago. ublock is letting a lot of ads through now. I had to get rid of it and reinstall ABP.

>shilling this hard

There is no discernible difference in the speed of the page loading, but there is a noticeable difference in element blocking. UBO shows it long enough for it to be noticeable and distracting then hides it, while ABP simply blocks it from ever showing at all.

I could not care less about what goes on behind the scenes or who does what. I only care about the actual end results.

>AdAway
that don't work with the newest version of Android and has not for months now

Why don't you use a local proxy to edit the ads out of the code?

Ghostery is shit though.

this.
uCuck allows botnet scripts to run for a jiffy which is enough to:
>inject and read data in html5 storage
>cookie shit
>js session shit
uCucks on suicide watch
If you're blocking hosts then better do it on the kernel level or router/busybox level m8. Browser add-ons aren't reliable or failsafe.
>blocking domain name

>not using default deny

dumbass.

filterlists aren't good enough these days.
