Why aren't you using a Pentium 4?

It's literally old as shit. It's not as comfy as a pentium three and it's slow as shit compared to a c2d.

They were and are garbage. Thankfully amd actually had some good ideas back then, unlike intel who'd rather have burnt your house down.

tfw to rich too use obsolete technology

i am
>tfw too poor to upgrade obsolete technology

fuck you

C2D 4 lyfe

same reason I don't use my Sun Blade 1000's - use waaay too much power

its pity, but I cant afford it.

This

Also electricity is fucking expensive in here Germanistan

>germany
yeah, gotta pay that refugee tax, white male tax, and jizya

because my room doesn't have any business being hotter than it already is

>its not as comfy as a pentium three
comfy has lost all of its meaning, how is a cpu fucking comfy

Because my room already has a space heater

>t. 60% dude

>being this new
This is now the comfy thread.

This. A single core 3.2GHz Prescott P4 has a TDP of 89W. That is about the same of a current generation 12 core Xeon.

Because I'm stuck with this

Does your name start with P?

Then intel had the great idea to stick two pentium 4s on the same die and call it the Pentium D

Pentium M are based on older pentium 2/3 architecture because netburst would probably melt the laptop.

and no, you can't see the transistors at 0.13μm

I have a 3.08ghz prescott somewhere. Its totally junk. Cant even load up windows 7.

>not using superior Pentium G4560

You must be blind, because I can see them

Yes

I'm using a 1.10 Celeron with one thread, motherfucker. I would kill for a Pentium 4, although I don't think there are ones for laptops, right?

The Pentium 4 I had owned had 1.6GHz processor, from 200?-2003. 512 MB RAM with DDR1, Fat32 on a 40GB SATA HD, 16MB AGP video card. Awesome machine for browsing the early 2000s Internet.

Not posting the pic I made 2 years ago...

>muh * has lost all meaning
Hello R*ddit!

I'm gonna do this when my current cpu dies

wrong fucktron

>tripfag insulting people
I'm not even the guy you replied to but you're just showing why people hate tripFAGS.

...

winter has passed, no need for computing heater anymore

what in the fuck is a 'fucktron'?

I fell for the HT meme in 2005, it worked alright but whatever video card I had was pure fucking garbage, barely ran Doom3 on medium. Dell system, P4 3.0GHz, 512MB Ram, don't remember the video it was the lowest option of the two and still cost too much, and a 40GB (I was cheap, fml) HDD. But at least I threw down for XP/MCE (with remote control) and decent 5.1 speaker system with it too. Came to around $1500

Because I'm still on P3

Comfy keychain. I will also do this one day.

>anal fisting mode intensifies

tfw i actuall am ;_;

I bought a 775 mobo and this thing come with it, and it's fucking useless these days, everything is laggy on it. I just got a q6600 and solved my problems

I am using a Pentium 4
G40 4 lyfe

Do people that work on older computers get scared about losing their work? What do you do? And can you put a solid-state storage drive in something that old?

nah, this is just my shitposting machine
i dont think it would have too many issues since i put a much newer HDD inside it, and its in pretty good shape otherwise (except for the screen that has some dim spots)

You can get Pata SSD's but theyre really slow. Only benefits they offer are:
>theyre new
>theyre still pretty fast compared to 5400 or 4200rpm hdd's
>no noise or chance of damage from bumps and drops

Pentium M is the bomb. Love those things.

Fine over here.

my shitposting porn machine is an amd turion 2-core from 2010/11, battery life has been shit and it runs hot as an oven. I threw a new SSD in it and for awhile it worked good (SATA II) but with all of the fucking bullshit on other websites it just chokes a lot now. That plus the battery recently died, I kept it plugged in all the time anyways, and as a bonus the power socket is loose. But it's still so comfy.

>tfw nothing supports it anymore because no SSE2
I'm sorry m8

doesn't bother me, since I started playing with this shit 8 years ago I've accumulated around 150-170 systems and of the maybe 20-30 or so that had actual hardware problems a good 70% of them were from improper storage long before they came into my possession, or well-known manufacturing defects. duds die fast and what survives keeps on trucking for a long time, pic related turns 34 this year and except for a deteriorated cable to the expansion unit with the hard disks it's still fine

nothing relevant to this thread is gonna have any of those worries anyway, it's way too new and the tech is much more reliable. wouldn't even want to use an SSD unless I was going for shock proofing, if they still have the data loss problems I remember spinning rust is still a way better option if you want your data to actually last, since hard disks don't just lose it over time.

Even though the G40 is from 2003 and has aged like a wet cheese, its still fine for Sup Forums and even some flash based games like Habbo Hotel for example.
And if you wanna talk about hot as an oven, this thing has an 80w 2.8ghz Pentium 4 inside. its not a mobile chip, full desktop socket 478 glory.
And i found that as long as im plugged into the wall, i can run a 3.4ghz Pentium 4 EE in it. Though after anything intensive it gets way too hot to function safely.
(im also not sure the chipset was meant to support it because sometimes it just gives me beeps on startup, other times it starts fine)

If i could find a G41 with a new battery, i would make that my Drafting machine. Autocad 2009 would run like a breeze on it.
Only problem to me is it loses that "fucking p4 in a laptop" bonus. Since its a mobile chip instead.
But it has an fx go5200 in it which would be a really fun little mobile workstation.
But the ones ive seen are just way too expensive for my tastes. My G40 was expensive enough because i wanted one in good shape, and i couldnt justify over 40$ for a decade plus old laptop

>Being an eyelet

Why even live

eyy, you fixed your title bar text
nice

Yeah my autistic flash games would cause a thermal shutdown now and then. It's really quite different with respect do a desktop the amount of heat that is pushed out of such a small space continually.
Good luck finding one, maybe you can cut a deal with a seller sometime. My laptop has served me well and I couldn't see myself getting another one, especially since nearly everything is a fucking ultrabook now and cucked to all hell with W10. I guess I just wasn't made for these times.

but I am

why does this stupid fucking thread keep coming back

that's pretty dank desu, it has PCI-e too?
I would heat my home with one either way, though I would rather have one of the bigger deskside ones
because shitbox threads are cozy and it makes people like you froth at the mouth for some reason

it has PCI-e 4x, I had to cut the slot to fit the GPU in.

>hot as fuck

The first desktop I built in like 2001 or so was a pentium 4 with 512mb RDRAM. I just wanted it to be able to run GTA 3, lol.

I am. I've been thinking about upgrading the video card though.

youtube.com/watch?v=GeZZr_p6vB8

Not even same die, just same package. (later doing the same thing for Core 2 Duo into Core 2 Quad)

Cause I went from a pentium 3 to a i3-4170 and skipped the whole pentium 4 and core-blah thing.

that's less than the 91W TDP of common desktop shitlake i7s, it was around this period that things started to normalize as we paid more attention to efficiency
older northwoods and A64s had 60-80W TDPs themselves which are just has high as many modern desktop chips, but I don't see much complaints about that

You sir, are really hardcore.
