I'm currently using a 300Mbps Wireless N USB Adapter from TP-link and an issue I've been encountering is that my internet signal is intrerrupted intermittently. I've tried changing some of its settings in the control panel and the problem doesn't seem to have been solved.

I can browse the internet as usual but it's really annoying to be disconnected from my MMOs every few seconds after I log in. I'd like to know how to make my connection constant.

If this helps, I'm a floor above from my router, could its range be the issue or is it the adapter, and/or both?

Please respond

are you using linux?

install gentoo

Nope but thx for the bump

uninstall the default driver then install the good one from the manufacturer website

Wifi is inherently unstable, especially through usb. Get some Powerline Adapters instead and have a word connection to your router. Amazon currently have Dlink gigabit adapters for 20 quid, there is no excuse.

>Gigabit adapters
>20 of literally any currency in the world
What the fuck? Where?

Aliexpress

might be the firewall

This,
and also this,
and not some retard like this,

Don't call me a retard, I set up my firewall and on wifi it used to disconnect, only on some networks where the identification was different.
MORON!

I know very well that it is possible, but do you really think OP is someone that would set this up? It definitely wouldn't come out of the box with whatever router/switch/AP shitbox he has.

What is your wifi strengths?
Try getting closer and see if the problem persist.
Try going to other places, if it happen at another location then its your router/modem.

Appears that the company driver is installed; That's what I'm told after I followed all the steps to improving my driver.

I'll try to follow this advice

Not savy enough to turn off my firewall without consequences

>only when the identification was different

Explain.

I had a similar experience with this exact model until one day just went kaput. I bought a different high gain wifi adapter and a 12 feet antenna extension, winrar.

1. Stupid questions thread
2. You got the shitty single antenna model, this one is literally a billion times better

Alfa adapters are really nice, OP. They get great range and are good in the event that you want to hack some WiFi.

So the solution is just to get another adapter then?

I suspected that. Well, I'll consider your advice anons.

Not necessarily, but if it's really dropping that frequently, it might come down to that.

Yea also location. If you're in an iron cage, it probably won't help.

Gaming on WiFi is always iffy. Powerline isn't awful but it eats bandwidth and can be hurt by dirty power. Wired is usually the best option.

D-link is also not a terrible/off brand either.

Shit, nice.

Know a guy with the same adapter and same problem.
I bet you're even running Windows 10

>I bet you're even running Windows 10

Embarrased to admit but this is true and if it helps I'll confess desu

Someone has to recommend a good Wi-Fi dongle? I have the same problem too, both on Windows 10 and Linux.

Anything Alfa.

Even the chink clones are ok

You can try to buy a 5+ ft USB cable, then you put the Adapter in one side and plug in the Computer, after this, put some silver tape in the adapter and the router, making them work together. This will solve your problem.

I need "something" of good to connect to my neighbor's wi-fi. Some advice?

D-Link sucks.

Yeah, any ALFA card like he suggested. There are lots of chink knockoffs but they still perform well and use good chipsets. I have the AWUS036NHR which maxed out the 38Mbps connection from my neighbour when I needed to "borrow" it. Granted it was a fairly clean line of sight, only ~25 Metres away and required a high gain antenna but it would still do 18-20Mbps with just the supplied dipole.

I have the same fucking adapter and problems with lag only when using it, when i use the internet via wifi of my smartphone by my usb it is alright so the problem is with this fucking bullshit retarded tp link adapter.

Proof?

get Edimax HP-5103K 500Mbps
helped me as fuck
