Previous thread:

Did we run out of anime girls wearing headphones?

Friendly reminder that if you're wondering 'w-what is the best closed/noise-cancelling headphones??!!?', just buy some 3M ear-defenders and some earbuds of your choice. You wont be able to hear shit and people with their head pressed against yours wont be able to hear what you're listening to.

for cheap high quality bluetooth earphones i like trelabs xr100 as for over ear headphones i went cheap and just got status audio for $70 not worth it but good build quality

But earbuds can't niggerbass.

BJ?!

People who want niggerbass probably aren't browsing this thread.

I'm wearing 3M Peltor Optime III's right now and using Panasonic Ergo-Shit's listening to music very quietly and can't hear myself typing on my IBM Model M as I type this.

OP image fell for the DSD meme.

If you want to take this a step further, you can mount the drivers from some on-ears (rather than over, because it's easier) into the cups for a comfier experience.

If you do this your music will sound like shit and you wont get the full sound blocking effects. People who work with artillery (an extreme example obviously) wear ear defenders plus earplugs, by wearing ear defenders and earbuds you're giving yourself way more protection from the outside world than just ear defenders on their own and there's no impact at all on the quality of sound

Don't believe me the whole setup will cost you fuck all from Ebay, try it yourself. The top tier 3M industrial eardefenders cost fuck all.

I own the Optime II and Optime III and to be honest there isn't much difference between the two, if you're going to use them in public go for the Optime II as it's almost as good but you don't look like a huge faggot. The Optime III sticks out like three inches, they are huge. I think the Optime III is just for people who are surrounded by seriously fucking loud shit (gunshots, artillery etc.) every day of their life and need every extra percent to save their ears.

Will it work with my Apple Earpods?

Are there truly wireless bluetooth headphones with earhooks that don't suck yet?

Was very excited for pic related but they apparently are mediocre at best, mainly because the headphones desync from each other, which I thought would be fixed because they just stuck a huge antennae in the earhooks but apparently its still not enough.

Is the technology just not there yet?

>Wireless
>that doesn't suck?
No such thing. Not even need to narrow the requirements further. Wireless seals the deal.

Hearing aids with bluetooth are actually the best.
They cost a fuckton though...

I don't even care about sound quality that much. I just want some that stay synced.

Best portable DAC for under 100$? recently fell for the HD 558 meme but I'm feeling that I'm not getting the best of it.

Can I get recs for closed or semi open pairs under $400 that complements the HD600 for anything it may lack?

Sabre USB Tiny. You can get it in Micro USB.
I use my Sabre USB Asynchronous with a Type-C to USB-A converter, but that's massive overkill.

woah are earmuffs effay now?
KZ ATE

Anyone have one of these? I want a unidirectional mic that will only pick up my voice and not my keyboard. This looks like an attractive option.

If you have a mechanical keyboard, you'll need something with active noise cancelling.

I've actually been experimenting with this but the muffs I have press on my iems uncomfortably. Do those muffs have a lot of internal volume? Can we talk about low profile items? Or, comfortable enough to sleep in? I used to have meelectronic a151s which were comfy, but then I lost them. Now I have etymotic mc5s, but they stick out a lot.

I do have a loud mechanical keyboard

Welp, returned my Sennheiser hd600. Sounds way worse and bass hardly has any affect like the ATH-A90X.

Audiotechnica for life I guess.

Does anyone have pic related? They get good reviews on amazon and newegg. Was thinking of getting a pair...

I've decided not to buy headphones because there are no objective comparison standards and I'm autistic. I'm just going to give up on sound altogether and throw away my $10 iems too.

what about those frequency response charts

Even high-end fr graphs aren't flat. There's just no way to put quality on a scale.

Yeah I have it, ask away

And no it won't pick up your keyboard unless you use your chin to press space bar, at least in unidirectonal

>returned a neutral monitoring headphone advertised as "flat" because it doesn't have enough niggerbass

DT770 would be a solid choice, different from HD600 and one of the best closed cans.

Why didn't you get the HD650s instead you retarded nigger?

ausfags this is our chance

To go along with those DT770's, TH-X00's are also pretty nice though you might want to switch the pads out.

I second these recommendations, the hd600's have rolled off treble and bass and the x00's and 770's have emphasized treble and bass.

Damn the meze 99 must be zreviews best rated for the price

Even the fostex can barely compare. I think I know where $300 is going

Is there any good reason not to pre-order these?

Because it was like $100 more than the HD300 for slightly more bass.

listened to them at canjam, nothing special about the sound in particular.

Any particular flaws you noticed? Niggerbass and icepick treble can both give a "wow" factor to headphones, but are unpleasant in the long run, so an initial impression of "nothing special" is a good start as far as I'm concerned. Also, were they comfortable?

I was looking into the Grado sr60e and the AKG k240
Which is better? Any other suggestions?

Fuck anime.

>Budget - up to $200, although I would like it to be cheaper than that

>Comfort level - As comfortable as possible, as I will be wearing them for extended periods of time

>Sound signature - I would like more bassy headphones, but hopefully not to the point that it takes away from the actual quality of the sound (I'm not sure if it actually works like that I don't know much about headphones) I'm an avid hip-hop listener and when gaming, I love that feeling when it's almost as though you are feeling the sound

>Past headphones - The first expensive headphones I've owned were 558's. I liked how clear the sound was, but the bass was practically non-existent for me. Unfortunately they were stolen so here I am.

Thanks for any help

What boards are they? I doubt they are all the same and obviously different boards will have different realtor DACs and algorithm.
Did you actually test them double blind while bypassing the amp?

Could anyone share some insight on the following:
Sennheiser HD 380, HD 569, HD 579
AKG K 181 DJ and K 271 Mk II

Are the DT 770s hard to drive?

The 600 ohm ones, yes.

DT 770 vs DT 990?

I know about their differences on paper, looking for personal experiences here.

Would I suffer audio quality loss if I plug my audio gear into monitor that connects to PC via HDMI, instead of direct into motherboard 3.5?

Pre-ordering is a suckers bet in general. If you burn yourself, you were asking for it.
He will probably make some revision to it in a few months.
Sound is like the Ether, a little shelf lift to the low end and somewhat reduced treble level in general.

>pre-ordering
I can't think of a worse way to purchase audio equipment than that.

dt770 does have a lot of sub-bass and the treble doesn't bother me. I like it, it's a nice headphone.

There are objective ways to make comparisons and a few ways to objectively rank something to be better than the other. Challenge is to tie that into something audible and meaningful. Understanding your own preferences comes with experience and training. Understanding the data requires you to study it a little.

Kinda tempted by that desu, can throw the SDR in there.

Also that discount on the 800 S is just below what I sold mine for

Why did you sell the 800s?

I want to get the HD600 but what Amp should I get for it? I would like my music to be not distroted as possible

Got rid of some of my unused headphones and bought some new ones.

Gonna sell the RE-400s, fucking hate IEMs in general.

Just get a Fiio E10k or something, it doesn't matter that much.

I heard that amp isn't enough to make the HD600 loud enough though, why doesn't it matter much?

It's probably audiophool bullshit desu. The AT-PHA50BT is enough to make the HD600 loud enough. Look it up.

Yeah that's complete bullshit, while it's true there are better options realistically the difference is going to be so minute it's not worth your money.

I wish my ears would stop rining
fucking ruins everything

ringing

I have the TAKSTAR headphone and I get a hiss static noise, going for a hd600 what DAC would I get? If its bullshit why do people say that Amp isn't enough or that after going for a better amp they could hear a difference?

>I have the TAKSTAR headphone and I get a hiss static noise
Then you obiously will benifit from an external AMP/DAC
>If its bullshit why do people say that Amp isn't enough
In extreme cases some Headphones can benifit from specific AMPs
> or that after going for a better amp they could hear a difference?
placebo, doesn't really count for Tubes though

go see a doctor, idiot.

The max power output of the HD600 can handle is 200mW and the FiiO E10K has a max power output of 200mW so when I get it would I just need to max out the amp?

I have there's nothing to be done about it

Unfortunately I'm simply not edcuated enough to get into the specifics but I'm telling you right now, the E10K will have no problem pushing the 600

>Pre-ordering is a suckers bet in general. If you burn yourself, you were asking for it.
I agree, and should know better, but the $100 discount tempts me. It's a decent chunk of money saved if I like them, and makes it easier to flip at a minimal loss if I don't.

I almost never get the chance to audition equipment, so unfortunately it's par for the course. Initial measurements put them right up my alley, though.

I use my speakers more so they eventually just became an expensive paperweight.

I prefer the sound of the 6XX anyway.

Last question, would there be a different between the EK10K and Objective 2 for the HD600?

Not much that you would notice, it would get louder and that's just about it. It's a fantastic entry-level combo. Keep in mind that the O2 has better I/O on the back if you plan to use speakers or whatever

Is there a point in getting an amp if I use a poorfag setup with some $90 headphones and some internal realtek PC audio chip?

no

I got a pair of used ad500x's with shure 1540 pads today and I'm a little disappointed in them. I heard the highs and female vocals in the ad lineup were VERY good, but I feel they are a little rolled off in this headphone.
I don't know if it's just the 500x's that are an exception, if the pads have messed them up, or what, but they don't sound nearly as clear as I was expecting.
I do enjoy hearing the large soundstage they have though, that's pretty fun. The wing system is a little awkward, but if I stop thinking about them, they're comfortable. I think they are a very pretty pair of headphones too.
For $40 shipped, I'm glad I bought them.

Do you need your headphones louder? Is there any hissing/noticeable distortion? No? Well congratulations, save your money.

Someone really likes neutrality. Do any of those ever sound thin or lacking in bass? Was interested in a few of them

How would you know that there is a distortion in your music?

>buy fulla 2
>doesn't work properly on windows 7
>has annoying crackling sound in right ear
>only benefit is slightly better audio from my onboard sound card and the ability to reach volumes so loud that I might as well be using speakers

Isn't that exactly the point? If you can't hear any distortion don't worry about it.

If I had an £20 headphone how would I know my music is distorted? I don't have something to listen that is 100% clear and neutral to to compare

Are the 1Mores any good? Do they need an amp to be loud? I hear they don't isolate very well

>windows 7
>using an almost decade old OS in 2017

A very difficult question, especially when you don't have anythng to compare against.

I honestly don't have an answer, you either heat it or you don't. Sorry

Well Windows 10 is shit and I don't feel like learning loonix

>Are the 1Mores any good?
I love them, I got them for $68 and would even buy them at $99
>Do they need an amp to be loud?
Not at all, 99% of iems don't need an amp since they're so sensitive.
>I hear they don't isolate very well
Correct, and they're a bit microphonic, but having the wire go under my shirt solves that problem.

>Well Windows 10 is shit
Relative to Windows 7 it's a masterpiece.

7 is and always was absolute garbage and anyone who thinks that glorified Vista Service Pack was anything more than that doesn't know what they're talking about.

Just got the golden MDR-1000x. Such a nice looking pair of cans.

The noise cancelling is shit compared to Bose, but sounds very very nice. The gimmicky "place hand to stop audio" is shit, because any normal human won't understand that you can hear them.

It really isn't. It's an unfinished OS that forces vague updates every few days and doesn't even have proper support for its own applications exclusive to the platform. If you disable all the telemetry and updating through registry and other mojo, you'll have a buggy and unfinished OS and can't use it for anything that comes in the future that you installed the OS for anyway. If you download any update, it adds back anything you disabled or removed.

I don't even want to go into my experience with Xbox on it. I'll just say the app is abysmal and MS is doing nothing about it despite forcing people to install the shit OS for their games (Yes, even Xbone has the shit OS).

>If you disable all the telemetry
The only way to disable all 'spying' is to pull the ethernet cable from your PC, no matter what operating system you use.

Have you tried disabling Selective USB Suspend in Power Options? That's usually the problem with these USB devices

O2 will drive them louder depending on the gain options you use. O2 has lower self noise and it has no DAC functionality. O2 comes in many options so the features and pricing of it varies.

Fulla 2 is the best budget pocket-friendly amp/dac.

Certainly not worth it to get _any_ dac/amp for just an HD558. Think about it when/if you're to buy more headphones.

Welp, enjoy your niggerbass.

HD600 wasn't for you in the first place. I bet you tried them for like one hour.

That's why I stopped giving a shit about the telemetry. Not like I'm actually doing anything out of the norm anyway.

Nice waifu. The coffee/tea is a nice and warm detail.

Excellent taste in headphones.

Fulla 2 or, if you like it loud, Magni 2.

Some anons confirmed e10k is shitty with HD600, so avoid that one.

It apparently distorts, particularly makes a mush of the low end.

Or so I've heard. I'm not the user that tried it against a Fulla 2.

Amp power output is tied to load impedance. How it is affected by that depends on the design of the amp, but generally, unless on tubes, higher impedance means lower output.

Fiio e10k can barely output a trickle of power at 150ohm, and it lists that load being its maximum, on its specs.

HD600 load impedance is over 300ohm.

Selective USB Suspend options might help. Else, just use Linux or Windows 10, where it's fine by default.
