phones r gay lol

was at best buy today and checked out the s8, display is nice but hate that it's so tall, makes you have to shift your grip to swipe down from the top then press back button for instance. was thinking about getting one but think i'll pass.

guess i'm waiting for oneplus 5.

There is an updated version of wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Chink_shit_general/Phones

>wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Chink_shit_general/Phones

Someone needs to update this with

same, i'd like around 5" and thicker - gives you something to grab on.

What's the best options with these specs:

>100~200 dollars
>robust
>good camera
>beautiful phone

Moto G5 has a decent camera and fairly robust for it's price compared RedmiNote4

can i outchink gearbest on their earth day sale like last time?

ZUK Z2 or Redmi 4 Prime

Moto G5 costs 320 dollars in my country. I'm looking for a budget chinkphone.

>buy a Note 4
>my favorite phone post-debloat/root
>get hit with my first mmc fail 2 days in
>phone lags/reboots constantly, unusable
>find about wakelock manager
>makes phone usable again
>realize there are hundreds of Note 4 owners who are only using their phones because the app is keeping it alive
>mmc failure is inevitable and the app just attempts to prolong it
>bought a new phone that's already on its last legs
JUST

Finally, a phone for us.

Are there phones similar to the zuk or redmi that don't require post-purchase rooting to make the software usable?

As long as I can shitpost with it, it should be fine...

>huge fucking bezels
what's the point

Doogee and Leeco phones

The FM Radio is the most underappreciated feature of a phone.

Especially when you have no internet, it also uses way less battery.

Glad my new Moto G5 Plus has one built in again, I really missed it.

No. literally all chinkphones OS's are pure shite. you buy them for the unbeatable perf/$ value, not their subpar software.
Zuk is much easier to root and flash roms to, since you don't have to ask Xiaomi for permission to unlock your bootloader and deal with the EDL locks they started putting on their phones.

No excuse for Motorola to not have led notification, the original g has one that only blinks white and that was fine
Cheap fucking shitters

Who else /Moto Z Play/ here?

I would if it was $250~

>when you should have bought an Xperia Compact

Why did I fall for the big phone meme instead? It's too damn big, I can't at all use it one-handed. JUST

>specs
>beautiful phone

Hello pajeet

There's plenty of methods to unlock the bootloader without asking xiaomi. Also miui might be shit but it gets way better battery life than every single curry ROM.

The only phones with usable software ootb are motorolas, oneplus and apparently the new nokias

Isn't that because most of them aggressively kill background tasks? You get marginally better battery life at the cost of user experience.

>2hr SOT difference
>marginal

Looking for a phone that could match the experience I had with the LG G3, which was God tier IMO. Any suggestions? Was considering the lg v20.

>US
>100-200$
>T-Mobile (I know)
>Must be better than a Avant

Yeah user we all know what your experience was, fucking moron.

Read the first sentence of the OP.

US
AT&T
$400-500
Good camera, 1080p+ screen res, not shit

3T
Second hand S7 edge

Let me start off by saying stock Android is still leagues ahead of the best TW ROM - not a samshill in the slightest.

But I just put a Note 7 ROM on my Note 4 (exynos model so AOSP is pretty much a lost cause) and holy goddamn - for a touchjizz ROM, it's not bad. Why did it take them until their grenade masquerading as a phone to manage it?

>but muh bricking update
It doesn't have the ability to update.

How much of an improvement should I be looking at from switching from a Redmi 3 Pro (SD616) to a Redmi 4 Pro (SD625)

How do I make the url.bar on naked browser stay at the top of the screen like other browsers?

What's a good weather widget? Just want a 5 day forecast. Seems like all the widgets I try and bloated all to hell

Weather timeline

How do you hold your phone, I need to shift my grip with my Oneplus too. Which is why I have the notifications mapped to longpressing the homebutton. In general I don't understand why phone software insists on having buttons at the top of the screen when nobody can reach them with their thumb

Picture is unrelated, I just think this looks really nice somehow

>AU
>Cheaper the better
>Optus
>must be 720 and run games okay for my little brother
pic unrelated its my nexus 6p SOT

Anyone have either the Mi Mix or the Mi Note 2? How's the phone been in your experience? Been trying to decide between the two, kinda a big letdown that only the more expensive global version of the note works in the US

honestly the iphone 5 was probably the perfect size.
i just fucking hate apple, so i won't buy it.

Should I grab an S8? I have an iPhone 6 and it's getting pretty slow. Is there a consensus on it?

where do I buy the redmi phones?

because it's a half inch thick.

Thanks, looks good

how to make scratches on screen less noticeable?

Aliexpress or Gearbest.
Find the cheapest options on Kimovil

I have one, but there's no real reason to get it over an S7 unless you really like the looks.

Bixby doesn't add anything.

hey, any fellow zuk z2-fags here? What rom did you use? I got mine yesterday, and finished unlocking and putting twrp(and then supersu) but i got it from banggood so its running the indian rom without security updates since last year.

Anyone have advice on a lean, basic, secure rom? I just want something i can put on it and forget about it(just do OTA updates for security. I'll put my own browser, file explorer, media player, etc...)

What's a good screen protector for the v20

Please don't frogpost

I have a Popsocket stuck on the back of my Nexus 6P case. Whenever I can't reach a section of the screen I just switch to one handed mode. I don't know if that feature is available outside of custom ROMS but yeah, there ya go.

Pros:
>That fucking screen
>camera is just right
>speedy, no stutters (yet)
>great for multimedia
>very fast wifi/cellular
>Face/Iris works well even if there's some sun directly on it
>RAM usage is good
>great battery

Minor gripes:
>fingerprint sensor, but it's actually pretty decent if you're a big guy
>no dual cameras, but those are kinda of a meme
>edge screen can sometimes take a couple of attempts to bring up
>samsung software (not lag, but minor regionalized things)

Cons:
>gyroscope for potrait/landscape is a bit oversensitive
>a bit taller than I would like
>No, i don't want bixby, I want to change the volume

Moto z play vs the samsung a7 2017, which of these two has the better camera?

Does anyone else with an LG v20 have really noticeable light bleed on the top of their screen below the camera?

I want to get the Galaxy Note 8 when it comes out, but I also want a sick phone that I can't afford just for shitposting because I have no friends. My last samsung phone was an S3 and it was honestly the best phone I've ever had. I have an LG G3 right now but it's a worthless piece of garbage and I haven't even bothered getting it activated.

If I sign up for Verizon and buy an S8+, how will an upgrade to the Note 8 work when they start making those? Will I have to pay off the $840 on the S8+ and then trade it in for like $200 off of the Note 8?

Anyone ever tried ordering enough stuff from Oneplus to get free shipping for a $100 order then return the excess, unopened stuff to them? I know they have a 15-day warranty for refund and replacement but can you simply say I want to return it because I don't like it/over-ordered?

They'll hit you with a restocking fee, just like everyone else in the world would.

Does Sprint let you replace your phone with a different one if it breaks and you have a warranty? Like if my v20 bootlooped, could I replace it with an s8 even if I was still on my contract?

Is there a prepaid plan out there at all that uses Verizon towers and lets you bring in your own phone? Oh and also doesn't have full retard rates?

is the moto g5 a yuropoor/pajeet phone? I have yet to see a site that sells them in the US

It astonishes the fuck out of me how they included a button for bixby. If bixby were like Siri i.e. I could actually talk to it, then that'd be fine. Luckily you can disable it completely from popping up.

How necessary is package pro disabler for the S8? I can't find a way to disable badge notifications

Aside from aesthetically, is there any advantage to these AMOLED screens?

I feel like people keep going on about how they work but they don't seem to really add that much for how much they cost.

if you use Verizon's towers it has to support CDMA, and that limits a lot of options for you.

just for example, the following phone lines don't work on CDMA unless they specifically make one for the carrier:
>Sony Xperia
>OnePlus
>ZTE Axon
>Nokia's upcoming Androids
>LG's non-flagships
>most of HTC's phones
>basically all of Huawei's phones
>Asus Zenphone
>the list goes on

The screen and battery and haptic feedback are all miles better. I'm happy that I upgraded.

but is that worth nearly twice the price? You can get a refurbished or "new" s7 off Aliexpress for like 300 bucks.

Judging by how incredibly baller the S8 battery life has proven to be, even when in QHD+, they're probably a lot more energy efficient.

So, on the topic of the S8, I tried pressing the Bixby button, looked at the Privacy Policy, and was already irked. I don't think I want to actually try that. Do you guys think I'm being paranoid? Or do you agree? I was actually really excited about Bixby initially, but it sounds like in its current state, it's garbage. But I want a use for that damned button! Google Assistant sucks so much goddam dick it's not even funny, so I don't really wanna use that with the button, either, necessarily. Why are all the voice assistants such fucking garbage?

Also, the S8 is I believe a lot better at low light photography than the S7. Check out this surprisingly clear photo taken on the road in the dead of night.

I thought the camera on the S8 was more or less just a repeat of the S7? I heard it looks almost identical.

as far as voice assistants, they're great for simple tasks but usually very limited due to the complexity of human speech and roundabout wording of commands.. I've heard Amazon Alexa is leaps and bounds above anything google or microsoft has put out, but I've never seen or used one.

Let me try and explain my situation.
>bought a used unlocked (Verizon) Galaxy S7 a month ago
>was told it would work 100% with any providers that let me bring my own device
>go with H2O
>this is clearly not true
>have only been able to use 3G
>have tried multiple APN settings and still nothing
>also can't into voicemail for some reason
I really like the phone but at this point I wish I just grabbed the new S6 Active for the same price.

so, wait, you bought a Verizon variant of the Galaxy S7?

Why not just buy the unlocked version? The Verizon variant probably has GSM locked or something.

disregard this

androidcentral.com/yes-verizon-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-are-sim-unlocked

Looks like shit

The camera is physically the same, but the image processing seems to me to be quote a lot better.

It looks far better than almost any phone camera would under such adverse conditions.

i lik u love

totch panty sexy kiss brest pussi sexy sex

I just grabbed it mainly because it was a good deal (one scratch on the screen I can't even notice unless the sun hits it just right otherwise it's like new). I had been told it would work 100% with GSM carriers but now that doesn't seem to be the case.

price is not a con?

well according to every variant of the s7 should work on GSM fine.

Did you switch the network internally? You know you can't just pop in a SIM card and call it a day.

honestly at those prices minor gripes become a lot more annoying to me.

The sensor is different, the software is different, and they have an actual hardware camera stabilization this time and not just software.

Yeah. I also messed with multiple different APN settings for H2O and no luck.
Also I can root this thing to ditch the Verizon exclusive apps, correct?

honestly the phone seems fine, your issues seem to be with setting up the phone to work with H2O.

I don't know about rooting, I heard Samsung phones are a bitch to mess with.

Yeah I hear that too, not impossible just a real cunt. I just want these literal dead weight apps that I wouldn't even use in the first place gone. Any idea what H2O's CS is like? I'm tempted to try another AT&T carrier next month just to see what's going on.

have you tried this?
apn-settings.com/h2o-wireless-apn-settings-how-to-setup/

Among a few other different ones, yes.

i would call their customer service, then try another network.

Also maybe take it into a store just to make sure you didn't get jewed by the seller.

>tfw no more physical keyboards
i just bought a droid 4 for the hdmi out and the keyboard is fucking nice

gsmarena.com/blackberry_keyone-8508.php
gsmarena.com/blackberry_priv-7587.php

>>>>>>>keyboard oriented wrong

like i said

That's the rumor that spread but the S8 has a different sensor than the S7 and seems to take take better low light pictures

Whats a good tablet option for casual use (UK)?

Just gonna read manga/comics/books and maybe watch a bit of video content.

I'd like to know this as well except not in the UK and I don't care about jap stuff; I want HDMI and something good for streams and video

>you will never stream a 5 year old game from your 5 year old laptop to a 5 year old phone

I want it!!!

>Finland
>Any carrier
>300-400 Commie dollars
>SD card slot
>Inductive charging, FM radio, and USB C are nice to have, but not necessary

finland doesn't have any carriers

Are there any websites that let you buy a phone for a monthly installment fee?

You can do that with Samsung and Google, probably others as well
