What went wrong

$1500 toy that can get you punched in the face.

makes you look like a fucking retard is what

>Letting the botnet stare at everything you do

I feel like these have solid military/police applications as far as working like a body cam, and the visual overlay would prove useful.

Just can't see it being super useful for daily use at it's current price and functionality. Plus you have to get around that "I'm pointing a camera" vibe you give no matter where you go when you wear one of those.

They lived in a comfortable climate and never had to adapt to think long term.

nobody is that much of a multitasker to actually ever need it.

Too many steps at the same time. Came off as creepy because of the camera and shit. Version 1 should have been just a nice screen at first that integrated with your phone, didn't have a camera or a mic and would use the processor on your phone to help display things like directions, or information about something you had to pull your phone out of your pocket to take a picture of.

Only after you have everybody used to a HUD for life would it be ok to sell cameras in it as a "don't have to pull out your phone any more" upgrade.

lel

Retards flipped shit that they had a camera when it's already been possible to pretend you're using your phone and take photos/video for years. Hell they even make hidden cameras.

You can't force innovation. Just look at the sad state of VR gayming.

Every single person shown it thought, "wow, imagine all the stuff augmented reality could do" because the previews and shit were all artsy bullshit that didn't communicate the product well

the fucking retarded media went viral calling it a "vr heaadset" and shit like that

In reality it was never an augmented reality product, much less VR... so it couldn't actually do the things it had people hyped about... then it was $2000 for like 3 years and people forgot about it by the time a normal person could get one.

because (((they))) told google to stop selling it/developing it.
>it has to be stupider and bigger!
>that way the goyim will want(buy) the newest iterations of it when it becomes smaller and smaller
>then one day they'll accept an implant the final iteration!

Do I need Android to use Google Glass? I still want a pair but I'm not downgrading phones.

Facial recognition linked up to bench warrants and suspects in the area would be amazingly useful to LEO. As well as fulltime monitoring of their behavior.

tethering it to phones, price, privacy intrusion (not that it's any worse than regular phones) perception, utility...

without useful 1st party applications, it was bound to fail. 3rd party developers weren't going to develop for it, there's no userbase. people won't buy it, there's nothing to do with it.

>Gorilla Glass

kek

>want a pair but I'm not downgrading phones
I'm sure it will run with your windows phone, assuming there's an app for it.

>Windows Phone
>better than Android
Good one.

Making an advert with a black hobo in a hoodie that stole someone's Glass, thus showing the customers what's gonna happen to their money.

b-but windows gonna make em run exes i swear

I social engineered some twee girl online into giving me one of her invites to Glass.

I used it for about 3 days then sold it for $4500 to a private investigator on eBay.

I was given two more invites to the Glass program shortly thereafter. I sold the second one for $2700 and the third for $2100.

Easiest 5 grand I ever made (4 after fees and shit)

did the private investigator tell you he was a private investigator?

Yep. I don't know why the woman didn't just buy a gopro and a chest mount.

...

Something I never understood is why google didn't add some external feedback like an led when the camera is on so that people can see if you're recording.

I guess google expected them to eventually be on and recording 24 hours a day to feed their advertising machine.

>what everybody thought it was going to do
>be able to "secretly" use social media, play games, and record without having to worry about people looking at your screen or knowing what you're doing
>kids think they could take it to class and watch YouTube or bring up notes in tests while the teacher/professor thinks they just have stupid glasses

>what actually happened
>"HEY YO GOOGLE DO THAT [announce to the whole world what you're going to do and sound like a retard while doing it]"
>"Timmy take off those glasses. You know we don't allow phone use in class and it's like you have one strapped onto your face."

>not using it for passive information
>not watching porn while doing everything else
It's out of the way because it is not designed to be active.

They should also consider at least making the damn thing symmetrical. Asymmetry should be left up to the individual.

>it has a camera on your face
>it costs as much as 3 mid range smartphones
>they were super secret about it and by the time it was available everyone had forgotten
>Controlled by voice command
All in all it just made you looked like a creepy retard and that for the cost of a second hand car.

It would maybe have been OKish if it was just a 300$ overlay screen, like for directions or something like AR navigation

Adressing the consumer audience asking 1500 to do literally nothing your phone can't, and adding little to no convenience to do it.

Had they directed their efforts to the professional audience things would have probably been different.
First thing that comes to mind is develop "HUD" applications for works where you can't free your hands, yet need to see informations, mayube without having to look away from what you are doing.
I'm thinking a surgeon checking vitals of the patient without looking at monitors, or even recalling some detail of his past medical history with just a voice command.
I'm thinking a firefighter having a minimap of the building they are in during a fire.
Things like that, not the "i can take a picture and read an sms" garbage they marketed.

Only factories really use them. In Finland the traffic wardens also wear them. Normal people have no use for them.

Its literally critter cam for human. Fucking jewgle

Too soon. Needed to wait until, like 2022 at the earliest.

Tin foil hatters got ass blasted at the idea google would be interested in there little lives.

Yeah why would an ad company care what anyone does lol!
