Web Developers are retards
What are javadevs doing on vim
you'd have to be retarded or a dumbass ricer to be using vim
We have to modify a conf on the application server once in a while. I also have to edit my bash profile with something and im not going to do it in brackets
>C# "developers"
How Pajeet is your country?
editing text files, what do you think?
>US and India literally equal
my sides
103%
that's what happens when you import from the turd world
Lower is better retard.
helo pajeet my windows got a hack can you help me with a hack removal software?
What happened to web dev general?
They went back to school
Died trying to escape vim, apparently.
>Ruby, C, and C++ at the bottom
Seems like everyone who thinks like me managed to figure this Vim shit out.
Why is CSS even on this list
why do people have trouble exiting vim? It's fucking easy
>:q
WOW THAT WAS SO FUCKING HARD HOLY SHIT HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO STUPID AND BEEN STUCK TRYING TO EXIT VIM FOR 5 YEARS!!!!
ZZ is even easier but frankly, I still prefer ed.
which 3rd world country are you from?
It was a good thread with actual help and good info. This is a facebook tier consumer products shitposting board , guess they just noticed.
Just alt+F4
>Actual help
>good info
I mean, relative to most shitposts sure. Still harmful as fuck webshittery.
Well the problem is, that people do not use man, or read the manual before using vim. And since exiting vim is unintuitive, they'll get stuck.
Why do you have trouble to understand that?
>people cant figure out :q
welp better download that 500MB editor made in Javascript with 45 second startup
Why would you write CSS in Vim, ever? It's CSS. It's easy.
Someone start the web-dev general back up.
We need a general to organize the reconstruction of wdg
So what you are saying is people are retarded, got it.
Well, I wouldn't phrase it like that, but sure.
>literally just came to Sup Forums from /ck/ for /wdg/
>ctrl + f and find this thread
Any anons want to be winners and start up web dev general again?
I'll do it.
>Vim
>Not Vim
is that alt+q or just a command you enter? never used vim
Literally press shift+semicolon to get a colon which activates the bottom area, then press q and enter. If that doesn't work you're probably in insert mode so mash Esc.
fyi :e opens files and :w writes to file
Sometimes you end up in vim using git.
It's time to stop posting, Fefe
of course its so obvious now
ZZ saves and exits. I find myself splitting pretty 50/50 between ZZ and :wq, mostly because I dislike holding down modifier keys. C-c also tells how to exit. As does the opening help page. I get not knowing how the fuck to function in Vim, but I'm baffled people have such a hard time exiting it.
The worst thing is the plebbit thread. I felt like I was reading the comments of literal retards. And does no one know vimtutor? 20 minutes and you know vim forever.
>People are retarded because they expect basic functionality like exiting a program to be discoverable in the interface or a commonly used command, like every other program worth using
What happened to it?
>web developers
Ruby on Rails is web development, user.
I like how vim users defend this.
It is so fucking slow and if you type too fast, vim shits the bed and you have to spend more time just to close the file.
The only redeeming quality about vim seems to be that it works just as well when you ssh into your server on the other side of the world as it does if you are working on a file locally.
It's also non-standard, which is why people get confused
I don't think people are confused, it is just slow and inconvenient and very likely to fuck up.
Like if you just hit q, you have to exit the application 3 times to get out.
It is like saying people who visit gnu.org
