Sup Forums, my retarded friends won't understand how valuable privacy is, they keep chanting the "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" mantra

what are some normie-tier pro-privacy arguments?

privacy isnt the same as secrecy.
what you do in the bathroom isn't a secret, but you shut the door.
want a camera installed in your bathroom so the government can make sure you're safe while you're in there?

If jesus didn't die on the cross, who did adam and eve sin against when they ate from the tree of knowledge?

"I don't want my nude pics to be share online"

Why do you care?

...

every person has ~11 things he/she keeps secret

Tell them to give you their bank information and passwords if they have nothing to hide.

this

>what are some normie-tier pro-privacy arguments?
Here you go OP

U wooot m8

Are you law enforcement? No? Then fuck off

>my private information only matters to the government
>no one can possibly use my lack of privacy for malicious purposes

>Moving goalposts

Where was the point moved? Also that's not an argument, arguing that it's not only government who's interested in private information is absolutely valid.

There are none. They made their own bed, some time in the future they'll have to sleep in it. You could talk about FindFace in Russia or employers hiring companies to stalk your facebook, but if they don't care about that, nothing will work.

everybody knows the NSA is a corrupt agency hosting perverts and blackhats, and loveint is a thing

why do you give a fuck anyway? it's important that you believe in privacy, let your friends get fucked when their data gets leaked or some shit.

You have no valid reason to access my personal information. You are literally a nobody.
You assmad I shit up your immigration social media thread? Had to come make another O B S E S S E D thread to get your circlejerk going again?

is time to take your medication Timmy

Call them a Nazi and watch damage control commence.

Tell them, sure - nothing to hide now but what if someone REALLY nasty got into power.

Actually, start a rumour that Trump has signed an executive order for social media companies based in the US to hand over all information they have and watch them shit bricks while trying to go full encryption

Point out that every single person is a criminal. Between drugs, underage drinking/sex, assault, BDSM and intellectual property/computer offenses, I don't think I know a single person who, if all things about them were known to the government, couldn't be convicted of something.
Even if you find somebody who hasn't done any of that, most countries, (especially the US) have criminal codes so vast they have almost certainly done something illegal and even if they haven't, it is literally impossible to verify that fact (fun fact, nobody, not even the library of Congress, knows how many criminal offenses there are).

At least my government isn't arresting those that spoke out against unchecked immigration. Can't say that about the eu.

>You have no valid reason to access my personal information. You are literally a nobody.

What do you mean "You". Private information can lead cyber criminals to using your identity to take out money from bank account. Compromising privacy for monetary gain happens very often.

>trusting the NSA
>organization known to host blackhats and other thieves

You asked for my personal information without a valid reason. You have no right to my information.

Remind them how long data lasts. A lot of people don't appreciate that whatever incriminating or embarrassing information the government acquires on them now, it may retain for their entire lifespan.

Remind them that they are trusting that in the likely 60 years remaining before their deaths (most of a century!) no tyrannical or dangerous government will come into control of that information, there will be no data breaches, no significant bad actors within the organizations with access to that data, the government will not expand access to that information so you get asked about your foot fetish while applying for social security payments, etc.

You are not the NSA tho. You are a nobody.

>You have no valid reason to access my personal information. You are literally a nobody.

Do you think hackers care about needing a valid reason to access your personal information? If some government server gets compromised or even more likely, someone leaks info, do you think you'll be happy that some 3rd worlder now has your credit card numbers and email addresses? Oh well, you got nothing to hide, right?

Criminals don't abide by law you idiot. Get real.

Tell your retarded friends they are supporting a corrupt organization of pedos and thieves and they should be ashamed

You asked for my personal information as a form of argument against the "nothing to hide" concept. It's a deeply flawed argument, and you have to stop saying it. You come across as stupid, a troll, or both.

Your appeal to authority is retarded though, he has a legit counterargument and you are an idiot dodging the reasoning

Giving away your information is insane, we all have families to protect and you are defending the totalitarian rape of privacy

kys my man

Show up at their houses at night and tap on their windows, leave a note saying " I saw what you did." Werks everytime.

There are none. The concept itself is too abstract to grasp for a normal person not interested in this.

...

Im He thinks I should give my anyone my info because I don't have a problem with "nothing to hide", generally. He doesn't have a reason to access my data as a complete nobody

Presumption of innocence. Goverment spying on you is basically the same as assuming you're a criminal.

Don't fall for the anti-reasoning trolls, there ARE normie arguments who only trolls will deny and the concept is not so hard to understand. Theft and online stalking are two.

That line of reasoning allowed google to profile you without your permission or compliance, and even when you're actively resisting it.

That's already against the law tho.

Suggest they move to a communist country because the right to privacy is one of the foundations of the laws that govern this land.

Why?

>implying the NSA is respecting the constitution
I got news for you

B-but Trump d-did t-that...
Shieeeet.

Friendly reminder that Trump is fighting against the corrupt deep state

Sure he is,kid. If anything, he's playing the Pied Piper, and leading people down the path of Liberal attack practices. Look at his reaction to Kathy Griffin, it's straight out of the Liberal handbook. If you accept this kind of behavior, you're only signing your own death sentence.

Trump is fighting against net neutrality

Ay hol up, dont be such a intolerant biggot!

>the government is a benevolent institution with high moral/ethic standards and their interests are the same as their citizens.
if you didn't know the government also has some corrupt/evil people just as regular citizens.

Unwinnable battle user.
The average person is probably content with a completely invasive society. Privacy isn't a concept with much value compared to getting your basic needs satisfied.

People grow up with little expectations of total privacy under authority to begin with; the average rebelling teen still knows that their parents could bust down their bedroom door and see anything they want.

Privacy is an irrelevant gnat under Moloch.

There is a chance that you simply don't have their trust or can't articulate your position well enough to get the point across. So other suggestions in the thread may help if that is the case.

Czechbro?

who cares

You, you stupid cuck

if trump keeps that shit you'd be forced to pay in order to write your opinion on your internet
