How do I prevent ransomware?

How do I prevent ransomware?

Don't open suspiscious links or applications.

INSTALL GENTOO
INSTALL HACKINTOSH

You're probably not a pajeet so quit using Wintoddler shit.

install gentoo

>Don't open suspiscious links or applications.
Retard, WannaCry used to spread without any user interaction. Stay retarded, POOJEET

install firewall

Install Source Mage and Gentoo side by side.

It spread on intranet networks primarly because some clueless idiot like you opened a funny email and followed the instructions to launch the attached application. It didn't spread by banging each computer on the internet.

Use Common Sense 2017.

Turn on auto updates ;^)

You can't thus backup your shit.

stay retarded Sandeep

use something like ESET

Why do you even care?

Just restore a backup/

And if you don't make backups your data apparently isn't worth restoring.

>Sandeep
Had to google this shit. You must be an actual pajeet to know such obscure Indian name.

by fugging teh nozomis

Backups.

>ransomware infects sector zero
>format hard disk
>access backup to restore from it
>backup is now encrypted

Damn WannaCry had potential to make an anime mascot.
Would've been glorious.

Backups.

Still to answer your question, Malwarebytes has real time anti-ransomware software that will block it from running.
And other that will stop it from going on if its executed.

>Eli smart enough to run gentoo

wtf i love Eli now

>using the smiley with a carat nose

Install gentoo, no joke.

don't download and run ransomware

She's a Russian hacker

Keep backups and don't be a complete tard online.

>Not having a backup that is physically disconnected from everything when not in use

:^)

/thread

All unique media stored on removable drives which are removed and archived while not in use. If one is comprimised, flash media is cheap enough to destroy one, and make a backup of the redundant.

The protocol used to transmit wannacry is something old and ancient. Disable it unless you actually know that you use it.

Keep your OS up to date.

Back up all your storage drives to drives that aren't connected to a computer.

Other shit

Eli is trash, fuck off

wrong

>using the smiley with a carat nose

install the fucking patched update that Microsoft gives you.

It's not so hard.

Install the official patch
Block the affected ports
And disable the SMB altogether for good measure

this eli meme is hilarious

Yourwaifubestres.jpeg.exe

Is a legit file, so trust it.

The real answer here is YOU. You need to be the human firewall. Clicking bait links or malicious shit will increase the odds of getting infected. Any important data should be backed up and I'm not talking about Dropbox, Google Drive or any cloud storage. Like Crashplan or BackBlaze. Ransomware will latch onto any connect network shares or cloud storage services and encrypt them as well. Use ESET Nod32 combined with Malwarebytes Premium. The Malwarebytes Premium alone has ransomware detection.

There's nothing wrong with cloud storage if you're not connected to them 24/7. I only manually sync whenever I make significant changes to my folders. There's no way ransomware will ever get to them

how do you back things up(not a question want to know how other people do it)

>Anime
Hi.
Go to hell.

Where do you think you are right now. Hint hint, it isn't heaven.

Sauce

Install a real OS. Otherwise, eventually one day you'll wake up to all your files encrypted.

Reverse image search or use whatanime.ga to look it up you lazy sister fucker.

It's not actually hard: If you're installing something fishy you can run it on a Sandbox and that's it

Go to the sandboxie site, there's plenty of information

No he's right, it used a leaked NSA exploit in SMB1.0 to infiltrate Windows computers without the need for any user interaction.

Harasho?

>HACKINTOSH
>transmission for mac had ransomware built in

lmao

...

DBAN would solve that
