Ultrawide monitors

Are ultrawide monitors a meme or not?

Why won't dell make an ultrawide IPS without that curve bullshit?

what's wrong with curved ultradewide monitors

>no letterboxing on movies
>letterboxing on videogames that don't support it
Eh, maybe.

This

I have one, when games support it, I love it, when they don't it makes me feel like I wasted my money.

Still though, it's nice having the extra screen real estate.

>dual monitor setup without the bezel
What's not to like?

Eh, I could see the appeal for gaming I guess, but for work I'd rather just have an array of independent monitors.

Ultrawide is the only time curved even makes sense

It's an unnecessary gimmick on a nice IPS that ruins aesthetics.

Shill, you did this exact comment last time.
I like It but I could afford only 29inch lg and that is not very ultra wide.
I run 1x 24 and 1x 29
For example I play movie on 29 one and work on 24 at same time

You can get really cheap 24inchers second hand for 10-30$ for dual-triple or more monitor setup,it is really nice for work and even nicer for fun.
Price maybe.

Can you create three virtual monitors in one ultrawide monitor or does it all stretch out? Pic related

Display fusion my smokejag

ultrawide monitors are not a meme
curved monitors are tho

why's that?

Ultrawide on 1080p or 1600p is pointless since you end up with worse ppi.
Waiting for Ultrawide 4k (5120x2160)

The extra real estate is great for productivity, gaming and movies without letter boxing.

because they suck at stacking with other monitors and are not high enought to use them without second 4k 27 incher.

Most ultrawides add actual pixel, even the cheapest 29inch lg has 2560x1080 compared to normal 1920 x 1080

on 29inch it is enought ofcourse on 34 inch you need to get higher i reccomend 4k minimum for that.

The dell one i have has software that has options for that

>Unnecessary
>The entire reason it is curved is to hide IPS' major flaws
No, they're curved because they have to be or you'd throw it right into the trash.

>(5120x2160)

Would love to see a 29 inch Ultrawide @ 5120x2160

Now this is good, Dell ultrawide it is then.

>Check the dell
>Looks really nice
>check price
>1200$ in my country
>meh i rather buy 6x 29lg and turn my wall in-to screen.

>29inch lg has 2560x1080 compared to normal 1920 x 1080

I know this but the ppi effectively stays the same when you consider the vertical height of the screen.

A 23inch @ 16:9 has the same vertical height as a 29inch @ 21:9
Even with the added horizontal pixels, both have around 95 ppi.

29 inch Ultrawide @ 5120x2160 will have 191 ppi.

I was not claiming that 8k monitor has same ppi as 1k monitor.
I just said that It is not worse or better than standard that is 24" 1920 x 1080

95 ppi is already sharp enought if you do not have your face directly attached to the monitor.
For most users that sit about 50cm from screen it is not difference noticable enought to pay 5x more money.

I will change my mind in 2-3 years when the 4k will become standard and affordable.

I also preffer normal 16:9 so I'd rather buy 27 or 32 inch 4k monitor of that resolution, what is actually cheaper.

Ultrawide are better than dual monitor.
