Uncontrolled shutdown = Ram xplodes.
>Feds bang on door
>Cut power
>Hide laptop
>They burst in
>Can't find laptop immediately
>When they find it 3-5 minutes later, cold boot attack no longer viable
Clear memory on shutdown.
Nobody gives a fuck about you anyways.
Memtest.
Put your computer in the oven when you shut it off
what if it's a desktop?
that is true, and it's not like i have done anything illegal either, doesn't mean i don't want to protect my privacy
You're fucked desune
have ram clear functions and a locked case, not that hard.
120 or 240 volts through every pin except the negative one when the police knock on your door

What is cold boot attack?
it takes a couple of seconds to minutes for the contents of RAM to disappear. If you freeze the sticks before that happens, you can take a look at the content for free encryption keys and so on
cant you just rip the eboxy out?
If somebody gets physical access to you and your data youre fucked anyway. Use terminal server in another jurisdiction and set up some sort of remote/timed wipe.
takes time
i wouldnt imagine that long, and they can cool it before removal anyway
you know, the attack isn't called cold boot attack for nothing, you can just cool the ram down and take your time
alternatively do it on the same pc booting stick from the usb
buy AMD products from half a decade ago.
>having RAM
>not just using virtual memory on an SSD instead
RAM is an outdated concept, it's no longer needed now that everyone has SSDs which are almost as fast and getting faster every year.
m2 vs ram speeds?
r u retarded
Ssds wear down.
Are a magnitude slower then ram.
If they're already in your house, you're already fucked.
>having SSDs
>not using 16gb ram sticks as your hard-drive
pleb
>ram stick goes bad
>it's a hell to replace it
Good job.
permanently glue your memory into the socket
or
get a laptop with soldered RAM (x240)
jack off to young looking adults instead of children. problem solved
Chances are that if you feel the need to do this, you probably have done something to justify the search
Why would you ever use RSA to encrypt your drive?
what is this "destroy your computer if authorities come" meme
do people actually get raided by police or something
Holy fuck this is the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time.
You don't even understand the basic concept of a computer's system.
>inb4 "I was merely pretending to be retarded."
PC case is locked, just need to cut power, plus stall asking to see warrant while it warms up.
you still need something to load the ram disc from senpai
>he doesn't have battery backed RAM
Fool
this is one of the best trolls i've ever seen
can you use full disc encryption with a ram disc?
Yea you can encrypt your ram
And decrypt it to your ram
Isn't TRESOR still relevant for this?
Yes, you can use it if you trust the TPM
well that seems counter productive
wtf, 100% of systems do it. Or not?
only Tails so far....
You can add it yourself but it slows down the shutdown time.
Also there is the possibility of data in the video card RAM.
Read from temperature sensors on a short interval. Halt under a certain temperature.
Also, have DDR4.
Unless you make a chipset that decrypts shit on the fly that's the only way
how about intel with cpu accelerated aes?
That doesn't do that
It only helps with aes algorithm
I believe some game consoles do it but I've never seen it on an X86 platform
Windows Bitlocker overwrites the areas where keys are stored. Jamal can't steal your bank info with a cold boot attack.
37 pass DBAN
Underrated
Consider all devices an adversary has physical access to compromised.
Do my enemies have physical access to you?
>implying the FBI is ever going to torture you for your encryption keys
If the FBI is kicking your door down, you're probably fucked to begin with.
I just encrypt my devices so if I get robbed, they won't get any of my data.
>tfw still using GTX480
I am safe from cold boot attacks forever. And my room smells like grilled pork, for some reason.
