>18 Core Xeon
>128GB RAM
>Vega
>All in an AIO.

Oh forgot about the industry standard 5k monitor :^)

>throttles after 3 seconds at 100% CPU or GPU

>Apple cramming Xeons and Vegas together
This unholy union should not be allowed.

There's no way this thing is costing less than $10,000

So is this the Mac Pro replacement and Apple's just not going to have a standalone desktop now?

>Throttles
Prove it. It's not even out yet.

Starting at a low, low price of $4,999.

(you just get quad core Xeon with the lowest-spec, completely gimped Vega at that price though)

4,999 with 8

No, Mac Pro is coming next year. This was to address the needs of Pro users this year.

It's in a tiny iMac chassis.

There just isn't enough space in that chassis for proper cooling.

Current iMacs throttle like mad with laptop GPUs.

How do you think a full-pledged desktop Vega is going to do in that tiny "MUH THINNESS" chassis?

18 core version will be like $12,999 mark my fucking words

Well yeah, isn't the xeon 18 core like $6,000?

>>Vega
Is this why AMD kept Vega under wraps for so long?

They changed the thermals.

If you look behind it, they took out the RAM module and expanded the heatsink and fans.

I have a 2015 iMac fully loaded for FCPX and it doesn't have a throttling issue, although fans do kick it in at 100% CPU usage (which happens during exporting not all the time).

I check Intel Power Gadget and it's not throttling.

I know the 2014 had throttling issues.

impossible not to overheat

epeen nothing more

yeah my bad, it's going to cost at least $20k

Most people don't need 18 cores. These are meant for post production houses, hence the included 10GbE connection.

>Jet engine fans to keep parts cool and will still overheat
Wew lad.

It looks amazing. Only Apple makes things beautiful on the inside and on the outside!

I can already hear the sound of fans.

Will this magic blue light make iMac Pro not to catch fire?

>using intel
>in that form factor
>in the heat of Netburst 2.0
Apple should start to bring Ryzen Macs

>catch fire
apple makes their computers out of aluminum and glass. that shit doesn't catch fire.

Insides will melt then.

>Gayzen
>Macs

Not gonna happen since there's no Thunderbolt on Gayzen.

Go be poor somewhere else.

...

Since shitbolt is royalty-free starting 2018, you only have to Just Wait and enjoy throttling 308w housefire abortions.

Thunderbolt can perfectly deployed on Ryzen systems.
Go to be a corelet space heater somewhere.

What are wires and circuit boards? Oh, you guessed it, flammable!

>All in an AIO
How is that a positive?

>Insides will melt then.
PCBs are literally made of fiberglass.

>wires
HAHAHAH... you've obviously NEVER seen an inside of a Mac.

>They changed the thermals.
You simply can't fit a heatsink with enough thermal mass in such a small enclosure. Toothpaste TIM will make the matters even worse.

AMD is retarded, it's probably gonna try to do it's own version of TB.

>"Pro"
>glossy screen
>still the same unmaintainable, ugly, and impossible to upgrade piece of shit
no thx

It's for studios without much space. Every production house I've worked in has rented gay ass Leltel systems and no user ever touches the insides, the IT just swaps out with a new one if there's a problem.

So AIOs are great for studios, especially production houses.

And will be glorious.
>pro must be matte
And new apple screens are that glossy anymore.

Why? They always adopt open standards, see VESAs Adaptive Sync. You've mistaken them for NVIDIA.

Did you even see the heatsink size in OP?

The back of the iMac is fat, so it's probably a super deep heatsink.

I used to have a 12 core Mac Pro (the cheese-grater ones) and they ran really cool and the heatsinks were massive. I even took it apart to upgrade the Xeons from ones I bought on eBay.

These Mac Pros are awesome and nice. Hopefully Apple will bring back their spirit next years.

>they took out the RAM module
So, no more upgrading RAM on this platform either?

No, it looks like the RAM isn't soldered, but upgrading will require to take the back off somehow.

Also who the fuck upgrades RAM later? It's a fucking workstation. You get 32GB/64GB and you're good to go and don't need to update.

...look at the op's pic. pretty sure those are upgradable sodimm modules

They are. My bad.

i-it's fine user.

this is just an imac created exclusively for mkbhd and the nig crowd

prove me wrong

To everyone taking the typical Reddit "Apple veri suk" mindset:

Build a similarly specced computer for less than the base model.

Dont forget the screen autists.

Ok let me prove you wrong.

>99% of movies and motion graphics are done on Macs.
>99% of music production is done on Macs
>99% of Design related work is done on Macs

Did I prove you wrong yet?

Microshit desperately tries to eat up the creative pro industry but they can't because everyone hates Winshit.

I imagine it's a combination of stopgap until proper Mac Pros next year. And trying stuff out for the iMac line ... think of like how Tesla did a sports car first. They intentionally came out with a smaller market product so they can deal with issues on a smaller scale and provide better service before releasing to a wider market.

>macshit

Umm most architecture and design work is done on PCs.

That's always been how Apple functioned.

They made the iPhone first instead of the iPad because it's easier to go from small to big than big to small.

I don't see how Sup Forums always hates on Apple when in fact they're doing everything right.

>because everyone hates Winshit.
the whole art music and design on macs meme was over easily 10 years ago, mate
the only people that truly uses macs in a 'pro' environment are youtubers
and even those guys end up buying a real computer, a real display, real storage

i can't argue the thing is beautiful, but you can't get THAT limited using something at that price point, while being literally un-upgradeable

Biggest bullshit ever.

No one in the pro creative market uses Winshit. nice try though, paki from the UK.

I literally work in two of these said industries and I've never seen Winshit devices except in the server rooms for network storage.

No kys poorfag

It's an AIO using off-shelf hardware. There's nothing special about it. There's no difference between it and any normal workstation besides throttling.

I visit hundreds of architecture and design studios a year and they almost all use PC. The people creating the world you live in are doing it on PC at least.

>No one in the pro creative market uses Winshit. nice try though, paki from the UK.
>No kys poorfag
another meme: buying apple makes you wealthy
you are just bumping the thread
if you believe hollywood movies are mastered using an iMac.... well
im out

Development on the iPad actually started first. Then they decided it wasn't feasible at the time and shelved it, then thought it might make for a good phone.

>I don't see how Sup Forums always hates on Apple when in fact they're doing everything right.
All they understand are spec sheets and think products go from idea to store shelves in 8 weeks.

>off-shelf hardware

There's nothing off the shelf about this thing.

>5k LCD (best in industry)
>Xeons (server grade, they don't sell this shit in Best Buy)
>ECC RAM
>Vega (not even out yet)
>Custom PCB
>Custom cooling
>macOS

Just kys.

You need wait until December to match same components.

It's literally usual OEM parts in teeny housefire-enabling chassis.

Why the fuck didn't they make it blow the hot air up?

Architecture is a possibility since most Architecture schools use gay shit like Rhino or whatever which is Winshit only I think.

But not graphic design or design related work.

No one respects Winshit.

Go kys pls.

Apple is probably selling it at a loss. They have the dough to do it. They want to expand their market share even more, most likely, betting on reduced manufacturing costs down the line.

Exactly. This shit aint junk; its a monster full of the newest tech.

Explain my, why does Apple charge 250 € for 128 GB additional SSD space when you can almost get a new 960 EVO 1 tB for the same money?

The only new part here is Vega FE that releases in 3 weeks.

...

>if you believe hollywood movies are mastered using an iMac.... well

>Mastered

Kek you clearly have no idea how the industry works.

Major Hollywood movies have different phases. Post production involves Editorial, VFX, Color, etc.

Most editorial is done on Macs. VFX mostly on Winshit/Lelnux (by using Nuke as a compositor). Colorists use Davinci Resolve mostly, which usually run on Macs.

So you're a retard.

and you defending a brand
just think about it for a second

Because these are 3GB/sec NVMe SSDs you fucking idiot.

The 960 EVO 1TB does 550MB/sec capped.

Go look at 1TB PCIe SSDs, they're literally $600-700.

>they don't sell this shit in Best Buy
They sell it at newegg.

Pointing out a brand's presence in an industry isn't defending it.

I'm defending the OS, not the brand.

Also I do like Macs, they're fun to work on a daily basis without getting depressed.

If you work 18 hours a day on a computer why not on a Mac?

You'll find these 1S Xeons in trashcans soon.

You just said off the shelf....
And you assume regular consumers buy Xeons kek.

You can buy 1S Xeons. They are shit though.

No one cares about Xeons in the consumer space.

Go look at r/pcmastergay and you'll see what I mean.

Macs are made for consumers.

>fucking idiot
>Doesn't know I talk about the 960 EVO NVMe drive
And we're talking about 250 GB not 1 TB
totally overpriced

If you can buy a part at a retailer, online or otherwise, it's off the shelf.

Look at what? And 1S Xeons are clearly aimed at prosumer market, same as that new throttlemacpro.

This is stupid, you can get a 5K LG for like $1500 and build a nice X99 rig around it that would perform 100x better for the same price

Where the fuck is the Mac Pro? Like something with actual PCI-E slots

>reddit spacing
gtfo

>Also who the fuck upgrades RAM later? It's a fucking workstation.

t. a child or a shill

>Where the fuck is the Mac Pro? Like something with actual PCI-E slots
Postponed indefinitely :(

We already had Xeon and other workstation parts in AiOs from HP with the Z1 series of AiOs. Plus, you could upgrade the graphics card yourself.

>I've never worked in a production environment

I bet anyone informed can build a better PC for cheaper.

Prove it

screenshot the shopping cart please-

>5000 US dollars
you're joking right?

? So go for it? I'd like to see

Prove it RIGHT THIS MINUTE. Or GTFO.

Don't forget to include 5k Display, Case, Vega GPU (Price unknown) and 3GB/s PCIe SSD.

What games can it play?

well if you use it to dual boot windows it can run anything on either platform.

Could I just remove iOS?

Has 11TFlop GPU, can pretty much play anything (under Windoze).

It has Steam and Steam VR under macOS too.

It's not recommended, but you can make the mac partition really tiny, just in case you ever need to boot into it.
