Hackintosh users BTFO
MacOS High Sierra only works with Apple-branded RX 580

nvidia doesn't have this problem
>continue running Sierra with up-to-date security updates until someone patches it
wow, not that difficult.
>someone dumps the bios and posts it online
>people flash it into their regular RX 580s
>it just werks
>Hackintosh
If I wanted nothing to work I could just use Arch.
Comparing macos to arch
Arch can't possibly be THAT bad
time to flash a new VBIOS
>The External Graphics Development Kit does not accelerate the internal display on iMac or MacBook Pro.
What did they mean by this?
are you retarded?? I'm running RX480 with some slight kext modifications. Same performace as in windows.
Hackintosh users are too resistent. Nothing can touch us lol
epic source retard
Probably you would need to run stuff on an external display if you wanted to get improved gaming performance on it, thus nerfing the whole solution (unless your stuff is specifically written to take advantage of the egpu).
>Only works with...
This is my favourite technology meme
Intel™ HD530™ doesn't have this problem.
>Same performace as in windows.
lol, hackintosh users really believe this
professionals use mac os. cant say the same for skiddie arch
>t. mactoddler
nVidia cards attached externally on Windows can have their output fed back to the computer via Optimus to accelerate the built-in display instead of needing to attach a separate monitor to the video card to derive a benefit. OSX doesn't support Optimus and AMD doesn't have a comparable scheme. macfags btfo etc.
lol, I unlocked all cores and removed the limits on the card and its maybe 1% less than windows GPU benchmarks
I did the benchmarks myself, I have windows on the other partition lol
>GPU benchmarks
Impressive. You mean the ones that show the RX 580 kicking ass?
Really, macOS driver overhead is ridiculous compared to Linux, this can be seen in any program that uses OpenGL to any extent.
Why would a smart person ever own this product?
if they wanted to know how it worked.
i did geekbench gpu benchmarks just to check if the card was throttled in OSX, since i inject different ID in hackintosh (RX480 is not supported)
and it was, but luckily people found a way to unlock all cores
Not to bash, but he's talking about high sierra, i.e. next version. Or did your screenshot came from developer preview, that been out less than a day?
lol, if its supported in Sierra, it will have even better support in High Sierra.
What do you think? that they'll remove existing drivers in High Sierra?
but anyways, I'll probably test it out myself over the weekend on High Sierra. Don't have the time to mess with it now.

is this your first troll retards?
> What do you think? that they'll remove existing drivers in High Sierra?
Sure not, they just have them verify hardware before enabling, therefor unless that verification is disabled, it will be only possible to run it with bios from apple-branded card.
Apple users are too technically illiterate to use Linux.
they would never do that. It would screw the Mac Pro customers hardcore and apple has nothing to gain from it.
Even if they did, 2weeks tops for patches and hacks to avoid it

Good thing we Hackintosh users have Nvidia drivers so we don't have to touch AMD.
>no source

>that they'll remove existing drivers in High Sierra
apple has literally done that before though
this is actually kind of offensive.
dont make us sad common you guys will catch more flies with honey!
just please delete this hun
oy vey
its almost as if they want hardware implanted backdoors to the graphical memory bus
hmmm
ill tell rabbi of your findings ishmael
Everything including iMessage and FaceTime Werks on my hackintosh. It also runs 100% smooth on my 50€ shitbox.
damn...
winbabbies on suicide watch
I don't care.
It just has to work with the i7 7700HQ Kaby Lake and the HD Graphic 630 and I'm good.
you dont need to explain your addiction its ok user
but in reality why would you use it without their hardware?
its just as bad as the people who jailbreak their iphones
why pay for apple and now use their software or hardware?
Because I need software for my Job that only runs on MacOS and I am too Jewish to buy a Mac just for one application.
No he probably means OpenCL ones, where there should be no difference between Win and OSX anyway.
OSX OGL is hot garbage though and they've never going to improve it since Metal.
well that's a confusing reaction
Why use macOS when W10 exist?
Just get the company to buy you one then kid.
>Because I need software for my Job that only runs on MacOS
What shitty job and soft is that?
,
I am a radiologist and the software is called OSIRIX.
can anyone give a quick rundown on what apple meant by external graphics?
does that mean we can use an external GPU on regular MBP or something?
I wonder if it will work on thunderbolt 2, even if it's slower?
you can already do it with TB2 if you're not too stupid
Actually admirable
Custom AMD Radeon 580? Oy!
Why do you guys hackintosh?
better hardware for half the price, and still be able to use MacOS
why MacOS?
looks like anything that supports Thunderbolt 3
Unix + Xcode
because its a pretty decent unix desktop OS if you're into that type of thing.
personally not a fan of xcode, but macos is pretty cool
you can make linux look like it rather easily (what ive done sort of) and you get a more functional os for a lot of things. osx is only good if theres a specific prohram you need on it
true, nothing against linux, i think both are decent unix desktop OSs
>Appeal to authority
Not an argument.
>Unix
Why is that relevant?
>Xcode
Why is this a metric of quality?
lmao
Hackintosh ain't going away at all. If they wanted that shit gone that would have happened years ago.
Also they have to support slightly older models of macbooks and iMacs.
>You can make linux look like it rather easily
It's more about function. Looks are not that great anyways and I have to say I like KDE more than this.
Problem is that it's lacking in little things over the GUI department (it excels over CLI though). It has a lot of neat shit by default that no DE includes, such as its drag and drop and file preview behavior, nested folders, a column view for file browsing (which I think the file manager in elementaryOS has achieved) file renaming behavior, all of these things pretty much possible on linux distros but never actually either working right out of the box or at least fairly easy to install or configure.
Also these seem like pretty stupid things at first, but then you do miss them enough after switching.
