In this thread we list things that we would like to see on macOS that these fuckers actually forgot to include in High Sierra.
Let's start: >Dark mode (you know, an actual one, not just the fucking drop down menus and top panel) >A decent file and folder merging behavior >Show/hide files with a fucking button
Jeremiah Brown
>>A decent file and folder merging behavior What's wrong with the current one?
Bentley Sanchez
As a straight heterosexual white male that has never used macOs or whatever, can you get rid of that bottom bar bullshit? Will it still be functional?
Carter Thompson
You can hide it and if you need to open shit up just use spotlight
Nathaniel Martin
Folders with the same names don't merge, it just deletes the old one and everything in it.
Jeremiah Sanchez
I'd like to see a trackpad that's compatible with the Apple Pencil. Like a built-in Wacom tablet.
Henry Jenkins
Nothing. In fact, i could use Mavericks or even Snow Leopard.
Ethan Perry
Pretty sure they mentioned they changed that with this release.
Jaxon Ortiz
>>Show/hide files with a fucking button Command + Shift + .
Asher Ortiz
You can set it to auto hide.
John Lopez
The dock? You can move it to the sides, autohide it, or remove it completely
Jeremiah Jones
news app iTunes needed to be split into tv and music apps up the iCloud storage
Grayson Baker
I didn't like the performance of Sierra, so I hope this is like El Capitan or Snow Leopard (I miss those days).
I'm sure APFS will add performance gains because you can now do parallel copying compared to HFS+.
Other stuff is just fluff I don't care.
Also for merging/just hold down ALT you idiot.
Nolan Phillips
>t. mactoddler subhuman
Connor Wilson
...
Jordan Morgan
>t. Angry Virgin Loonix user.
David Russell
Can anyone explain me? >Apple releases "environmental" sounding OS every 1 or 2 year What is the diff? Is it just similar to linux releasing new kernel with user given freedom to use any desktop manager or window manager? Or apple does something different? If /g knows this why is it shilling for new Os which is basically nothing?
Bentley Lewis
dude weed lmao
Jordan Morris
It's just an annual update. They used to name each step after a big cat (Tiger, Jaguar, etc.) switched to spaces in California when they got low on cat names they liked.
Nolan White
One of your wishes is available if you just press the option key.
Blake Nguyen
They changed it like 2 major versions ago, yet this stupid meme still lives on somehow
Oliver Taylor
It's like the "hurr durr only one mouse button" meme.
Jacob Johnson
what else do you expect when the people shitposting about it are Sup Forums kiddies who have never even used it
David Garcia
It's like Windows going 7 8 etc. Except you get it for free.
As a new macfag, what is better about the older versions?
Andrew Anderson
more weed references
Samuel Nguyen
It looks pretty good on the side. You can get rid of it with some terminal shenanigans I believe
Christopher Stewart
>tfw i'm still on el capitan
is there any reason i should switch? idgaf about siri
Grayson Cooper
what? you can automatically hide the dock and it only leaves a small space at the bottom
Zachary Watson
If by terminal shenanigans, you mean clicking a box in the settings panel, then yes, you can hide it.
Alexander Martinez
That's hiding it. To get rid of it entirely you need terminal
Evan Ross
It's best to just autohide it and move it to the side.
Cameron Johnson
I'm on Sierra here, it only sometimes asks to Merge or Replace. When it doesn't ask, it still deletes the old contents. It's still fucked.
Parker Morales
Is APFS any decent?
Anyone know yet?
Ryan Jackson
Proper dark themes will never happen because app devs are lazy cunts. Even if OSX has a dark theme, expect every 3rd party program to look shit with it.
Same thing happens on Linux. Dark themes look like ass because of poor application design.
Benjamin Bell
Where do mouth breathing technology illiterate brain dead gullible mactoddler morons get the false impression that they or their fruity toddler toys are welcome much less belong on a technology board?
Cameron Rivera
No, not really. I'm on a Sierra hackintosh and there's nothing different besides Boom 2 not working, being nagged to turn on 2FA until you do only for it to not fucking work half the time, oh and of course Siri.
Why are you this assflustered over someone else's operating system? It's a polished *nix for people who want to use real software.
Caleb Bell
MULTI-TASKING. I WANT CHROME AND PRO LOGIC TO BE SIDE BY SIDE REEEEEEEEEE
also ffs fix the screen recorder
Kevin Smith
I wonder how that Linuxfriend is doing after that massive sperg out last thread where he complained that he could do pretty much any macOS task seconds faster and got massively buttblasted that most anons didn't care and some even proved him to be mentally incapacitated.
Dylan Rivera
Yeah it's unfortunate that a lot of Linux users are like that. It's an OS ffs, not a way of life.
Colton Edwards
Does Windows have "Springloaded Folders" yet?
Jack Allen
That's not a button and in fact, obscure enough that you kinda need to google that shit to find it out.
Easton Brown
an obscure command for an obscure feature most people will never use anyone who needs it surely knows how to Google it
Oliver Carter
Where do mouth breathing technology illiterate brain dead gullible mactoddler morons get the false impression that they or their fruity toddler toys are welcome much less belong on a technology board?
Daniel Turner
Can't you just do it now by holding the fullscreen button? macOS had this for a while
Levi Jones
Tried it and, basically:
>You need to always copy files, not move em if you want to merge >There's no single file choice over what to keep and what to replace, if you merge 2 folders >Only newer files replace older ones, but maybe you don't want that
Andrew Thompson
this fucked me over hard back on 10.2 or 10.3 and it's only just being fixed now maybe. what the fuck apple.
Sebastian Cooper
To be honest if you think macOS doesn't belong on a tech board, you don't belong here.
Microsoft had to nigger-rig another company's userland into Windows to get a decent shell. No such problem on macOS. Just one of many examples of how macOS is actually fantastic for developers and system administrators.
Adam Jackson
opengl 4.5 or at least 4.3 so we can use compute shaders
inb4 some retard suggests opencl
Nathan Sanchez
i used to remember that the magic mouse on snow leopard could figure out if you're trying to right click wtf happened to that?
