Most fish here is usually white fish like Cod or Tilapia, southern states like Catfish and ones that border an ocean usually have the best stuff like Marlin or Snapper or Barracuda. I think Salmon and Cod are the most popular. I like Trout fishing in my state (AZ) but I also catch Bluegill/Sunfish, Carp, Salmon, and Catfish.

Depends on the city/town. In Sydney I suppose you get: Tasmanian Salmon, Trout, Snapper, Gummy Shark, flounder, Skipjack Tuna

Gummy shark is largely popular in NSW because of how common it is, and the fact that it's completely boneless. We refer to it's meat as 'Flake.'

So it mainly finds its way into Fish & Chip shops, frozen fish fillets etc. In itself it doesn't have many established dishes, but can be commonly substituted in a lot of white-fleshed fish dishes or just cooked as a fillet fresh. It has a more subtle flavour, and is very tender. It can be substituted with flathead or whiting.

It used to be quite cheap, but not so much anymore. Still, it's far from expensive.

I fish regularly for fun around this time, caught a large turbot and I almost got stung by a weever in the same day, Scorpaenas suck too.

fishing tools? Shimano and Daiwa have excellent stuff. We use baits same as yours for surf fishes. It is very fun for going surf from this time of season to aim turbot and whiting. Thank you

yes half of my gear is Japanese made actually, especially the lines, they are very tough and dont break easily unlike expensive Berkley imports from Cabela USA, I don't know if that's a good thing though bacause my hook gets stuck here and there in rocks sometimes, touch to cut off but still very thin.
My first reel mechanism as a beginner was a Shimano Katana, built like a tank for around 5000 yen (45 euro). I agree with the carp, not a fan sweet water anything personally.

We are not a nation who eats a lot of fish. People who lives on the coast or the Amazon region eats a bit more. Andt we are too big, people eat different fishes on the regions (amazon rivers X ocean, northxsouth)

Most of these are salt-water (with some obvious exceptions). There's too many fresh water species eaten here to count. And crabs and shrimps are also very populair, as is Sushi.
