Do you use Firefox or some derivative and if so why? Also general browsers thread

yes because it came preinstalled on lubuntu

Recently switched to pale moon and it's pretty comfy, I'm getting used to the lack of extension support.

The game of thrones episodes on "pelispedia" (some shitty spanish site) crash every 10 minutes on chrome, but not on firefox.

Thats all i use it for though, othersie use crhome

Liked Chrome, but Sup Forums told me it was a botnet so I switched to FF.
Eventually ended up on Opera though, since it was similar to Chrome.

Nightly Bleeding Edge

i don't really care about this botnet shit but chrome uses a LOT of ram which made me want to set fire to the team that designed it.

>2017
>not having a minimum of 16gb of ram
It shouldn't even matter

brave.com/

Is this a meme or what?

Pale Moon because fuck australis.

I use it on my phone but that's about it

Does it really hide your ass?

I'm not really sure. I just use it for the adblocking. However, it does say that it is blocking trackers, scripts, 3rd party cookies, and fingerprinting protection.

is iridium or w/e its called any good? been thinking of trying it

cuck

I guess it's safe to just try then. Thanks.

No, I use Opera 12. SeaMonkey's my go-to for when I can't use Opera anymore though

Firefox because Firefox-nightly fails to build

Yeah, its Chrome without the botnet. Comfy as well.

Why 12?
Isn't the latest one like 45 now.

12's the last version before it died and became a shitty Chrome clone.

>immediately starts up with no apparent bullshit
Well fuck, at least that is impressive

Anyone else getting lag from Firefox?

I've used the browser for 3 years and haven't had this problem until recently.

I use it 100% for the css styling you can do with usercontent and userchrome

I have that problem too it started after updating past versions 42-45 Newer versions lag way worse

I use nightly. It can be unstable and certain addons occasionally do not work, but it's way way faster than waterfox, cyberfox, or firefox. Pale Moon is really nice but the lack of extension support prevents me from using it.

I use firefox because the arc dark theme for it is really, really good looking. It also has all the extensions I'm interested in so why not.

I've started getting this, but only on Sup Forums for some reason. Anytime I refresh the page or open a board in a new tab, it takes forever to load. no clue why

8 gig is enough for me with 3-4 tabs of chrome open + some minor things while gaming.

Firefox and Edge.

Edge is pretty fast but has some problems that I hope they fix son like you can't mute tabs or watch .webms here.

I like iridium but lots of normie sites like Amazon don't work with it, but there's potential I'm just retarded.

>chrome

You poor child. No wonder you need more than 8 gigs.

Brave Browser is a sluggish, slow piece of shit.

after using firefox for a very long time, ive switched to chromium. the issue i was having was with startup times and bloat. with firefox, i found that after a couple months of usage it always became really bloated and i would either have to live with it or create a new profile. this seemed to always happen, whether on windows or linux and using the esr release or regular or beta or nightly, even if i reduced my addons and modifications to just the "must-haves". it always happened
now ive been on chromium for maybe 6-8 months. its been running okay and while it certainly slowed down a noticeable bit it feels better

also forgot to list that i tried palemoon and firefox developer edition and they seemed the same but i didnt really stick around with those to see if it got terrible

From my personal experience Chromium > Vivaldi > Polarity > Nightly > Palemoon > Waterfox > (((Chrome))) > SJWfox > Midori

Stop bumping this shitty thread. There was already a thread talking about browsers.

If you want to make this a general AT LEAST keep it in 1 place.

bump

bump

iceweasel/icecat

because its the longest running open source browser and it runs pretty amazing even on arm linux where the alternatives were too bloated

people using palemoon are worse than the install gentoo trolls

palemoon is way behind on security and bug fixes and its only maintained by a single guy

youre better off using extended release

The children of Netscape Navigator run on anything.

I used Firefox when I first installed Linux and then got chrome when I migrated to Solus. I switched back when I saw that there's not much difference besides the amount of botnet.

Using FF here

it works just fine

Pale Moon v2.7.30, after some about:config tweaks is basically faster than Chrome and I don't know, I guess I like it more than Chrome.

Vivaldi here, ex FF user. Don't know why I moved to FF, it just werks but Vivaldi seems to work even better.

Vivaldi a shit

Sure senpai, whatever floats your boat.

Waterfox, crashes way less often, although it currently won't stop crashing, I think it does this whenever I OC my PC

Safari (with content blockers) on mobile, Edge (with uBlock origin) on desktop. Literally no reason to use Firefox, seeing how it is the Swiss cheese of browsers.

I used to, mostly because it was very easy to manipulate the interface. I like having an always-visible browser UI, but prefer to have it smaller than any other browser's by default. Firefox let me condense tabs, a URL bar, select extension buttons and bookmarks, and window control buttons all in one toolbar

They're apparently going to be making that impossible by the end of the year, though, and Firefox hangs on seemingly random content while running the exact same extensions, or none at all. I never figured out why, so I'm back using Chrome.

If I could get the consistent performance from Chrome and the interface customizability from Firefox, I'd have a browser that I probably wouldn't hate running.

What'a the best android browser?

whats with everyone claiming FF crashes

this is some serious BS ive used it daily for over 8 years and currently using on a pi

never had it crash once

if i can chan and watch webms on my pi with 30+ tabs with less than 1GiB ram (shared between framebuffer) then you can too!

>Do you use Firefox or some derivative and if so why?
Both. Firefox for normal browsing, derivative for porn. Just separates them well.

GNU icecat!

personally i have only had it crash once or twice but i've had pretty constant tab hanging issues

i just thought it was my computer until i tried out chrome a few years ago. every time i go back to firefox, usually once or twice a year, it's the same shit regardless what i'm running

i wish i could figure it out because of but if they're going to get rid of that then fuck it

I use Firefox on Ubuntu and firefox nightly on android.

Spoiler Alert:
Opera is botnet.

Use GNU IceCat. Stop overcomplicating your web browsing.

I use FF still, but seriously, what the fuck happened to that browser?

It just completely fails to display certain websites in any functional way for me sometimes - even with all add-ons disabled.

Two exaples are:
userstyles.org - will not display any site content whatsoever, just blank eventhough it's there
gog.com - displays, but NOTHING works. Can't click ANYTHING

I have to use a second browser occasionally because FF sometimes just fucks up hard now. Still on 47.0.1 though.

Works on my machineā„¢; Nightly 55.

Update to at least 52 ESR and/or try a new profile.

Palememe.

Because lower memory footprint. And generally snappier. I have an old machine.
Also they still have not broken versions of addons I care about like Tree Style Tabs.
Fuck furries though.

I use Firefox on desktop because of tree-style tabs. I use Firefox on Android because it opens links in the background.

Using Chrome on the main computer. The others have Firefox installed. Wanted to install it on the main pc as well but couldn't get it running. As soon as the adblocker addon was installed FF lagged like shit.
Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Literally me.

Nothing else has a good enough tree-style tabs. I'll consider Vivaldi once their vertical tabs stop sucking.

This. How's Opera 12 so far? I've switched to Chropera and Vivaldi, occasionally

Safari or Chromium, firefox is so laggy in OSX.
