I just put freebsd on an old nettop I had laying around. I would like to use it but I can't get it to recognize the intel wireless card I put in it and so cannot connect to the internet to get the rest of the things I need set up.
How the hell do I force it to find and use an intel wireless nic?

Is the Debian support for ZFS on par with FreeBSD?
Concerned mainly with compression and future support.
I just installed freebsd on my acer720 chromebook and the stereo audio speakers aren't working. It seems to be only detecting the HDMI.

So, I bricked my laptop by installing OpenBSD 6.0 a while back.
I let that laptop sit for a while because I didn't need it, but I figure I ought to get it working again.
After installing OpenBSD, I wasn't able to boot the OS. Once I get past the BIOS, it just gets stuck on a black screen. This happens even when I put Windows or Linux installation discs and try to boot them.
What do?

Can anyone help me with this? I have an obsd laptop and I'd like to connect to multiple wireless networks. I read the man, but I think I must have missed something, because wpasupplicant won't initialize on startup. Here's what my rc.conf.local looks like:

If it's an ipw2100 card good luck. I spent a week trying to make that dumb shit work and it just refused to connect to any network.
If it's a mini-pci or mini-pci-e card, consider replacing it with a freedom-friendly Atheros card, they are available from $4 on ebay.

Do you guys have any guides/recommendations that deal more with the networking side of things? I can configure npppd, isakmpd, and ipsec.conf without difficulty. My problem is figuring out how to get all the pumbing to talk to each other/appoint the correct LAN IP addresses.

It's a DKMS module so they can update it without revving the kernel. Modern ZFS on Linux can still be built for 3.1x kernels so Debian 9 will be fine for a long time.

I set ipsec.conf to use SHA-256 and the phone sends SHA-1; I set SHA-1 and it sends SHA-256

im unable to scp to a ZFS dataset even when i own the dataset directory or a subdirectory within it and im part of that directories group...
i even got desperate and set the permissions to 666 (drw-rw-rw-) to allow writing for anyone and it still said permission denied to write??
im able to write with root on the same dataset without issue
are permissions n groups broken on freenas?
