Why haven't you compiled your own linux kernel, Sup Forums?

Why haven't you compiled your own linux kernel, Sup Forums?
Do you enjoy knowing that your generic distro-provided kernel loads hundreds of MB's of unnecessary shit on startup and during idle?

Imagine having baked-in support for tens of thousands of devices that you don't ever use, that's what your Linux kernel is doing.
Why do you need both intel AND amd support in your kernel? You only have 1 CPU.

because i use macOS where i dont have to deal with that kind of dumb stuff

There's already a kernel specifically for my hardware

It still only loads drivers for what it detects

>hundreds of MB's
Wrong

Because you can only run the hardware your corporate overlords approve of, so there's no point.

could you be any more wrong?
>what is hackintosh

shit

wrong again
you aren't very good at this, user

most drivers are only compiled as modules, which are only loaded when required
not compiling them only saves on compile time and disk space

You can rmmod those hundreds of MBs of unnecessary shit to get picrelated.

It sounds like alot of work figuring out what all I need rivers for and then figuring out how to only compile it to use only the things I needed

I fucking hate anime

>The Linux Kernel is 100s of megabytes
>It loads drivers for any and every possible device it supports
>You only have 1 CPU.

TOP KEK

>The first two boards Sup Forums ever had were Sup Forums (Anime) and Sup Forums (Everything Else)

>This faggot thinks Sup Forums is the site for him when he doesn't like anime

Linux is shit. Let's talk about interesting systems for once.

EDIT: Thanks for the gold!

I did when I had a Pentium 3 due to hardware support.
Never needed to do it again because it just works.

where do i find the linux-hardened kernel for arch source code?
I wanna compile my kernel, but I still want the linux-hardened features

I like being able to update without having to meddle with config files first.
