Got this ~6 year old PC as a gift from my dad since hes getting a new one

But the mainboard battery ran out a while ago, so we have to replace it

Problem is: We cant find the fucking thing on the Mainboard. I simply dont see it.

the PC in question is a packard bell IPower 19650 GE. Please help a Nigga out

IDK if the pictures are any good for identification, Ill keep em coming

...

It's built into the power supply.
Get it out and open it up. I'll identify it for you there.

It's hiding under the GPU. You will have to remove the GPU to access it.

And while your at it, I suggest moving one of the ram sticks out of the first memory channel and stick it on the second one. The one you want to move is the one closes to the socket (the one in the first blue slot), and it would ideally be in the second white slot.

it's under the video card

Make sure to keep it plugged in and switched on to keep it grounded though

>a gift from my dad
you ain't fooling nobody here, Tyrone.
give it back

>give it back
I'm pretty sure nobody wants a LGA775 machine anymore.

most likely this.
Also do not open PSU or you ded nigger

1366 actually, count the number of memory channels.

lmao

The battery is right in the middle below the PCIe slot the GPU is in.

thanks for the serious replies

who you callin a darkie here, coonmaster?

...what? all the ram sticks have alrdy been removed. that is also visible in the picture

?

my bad my bad user, I uploaded an older picture where the RAM was still in

thank you so much for your tip. I have 2 more RAM sticks anyway though, 4 in total

How do I extract the GPU without causing collateral damage?

What a fucking mess that computer is.

Is this what owning prebuilts is like?

not all prebuilts tho, I have an HP one which is piss easy to take apart

wait, is it really that dangerous or just a meme?
I've opened up my old PSU once because I needed a fan and couldn't find one, then I noticed there was a fan inside the PSU so I just removed the screws etc. and unplugged the fan (it used a two pin connector) and it just werkd when I connected it to a desktop stand-alone power supply.
was I risking my life or something?

nm i did it on my own

By opening whatever that thing is holding it in place, and then undoing the lock on the PCI-e slot towards the back of the card.

It's pretty dangerous if you touch the capacitors. Seeing as you're still here, you probably weren't retarded enough to do so.

Give it back Jamal

There's no risk if you make sure it's properly discharged. How long it holds a charge after its been unplugged depends on what sort of capacitors it uses. A quick thing some people swear by is unplugging the computer and then trying to power it on to discharge the capacitors quickly. Google how to discharge a PSU properly before working on it.

I pity the fool

thanks to everyone who contributed. for the 1st time Sup Forums was actually able to help me. i wont for get this, if Sup Forums ever needs me ill be there

biggest mistake of my entire life. im buying an android today; a huawei honor 6x

thoughts? windows phone made my life truly hel..

REMOVE EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST

Give us a pic under the gpu, though

aint no one got time for tht

it has all been done. GPU out, battery out, battery in, GPU in.PC is running fine now, but tx for your concern anyway!

What are you gonna do with a six-year-old computer anyway?

that heatsink though

where can i get me one of those, i need it for my turbo boost

its an i7 with 32gb RAM and a decent gfx. its 1000x better than my old laptop

i7 920, gts 250 in that thing?
I suggest replacing the gts 520 with something like a 750ti or a gt 1030, you'll get great performance that way. The 250 is the only thing holding the machine back too much.
