Having chrome have a built in adblocker is basically google executing part 2 of its plan.
Part 1 was: Using our advertising platform, we advertise our own browser so heavily that people all switch to it. As a bonus, make it good too, so people keep using it.
2 is: Once market share dominance is achieved, block all ads but google ads, while lying and saying you're also blocking google ads. Block a token amount of google ads and the effect is the same: You have an advertising monopoly online.
