What's the best open source video editor. I used to like Premier but I'm not about to Shell out $20 a month for it and the RAM consumption is insane.

Blender
>the RAM consumption is insane.
It's fucking video editing software.
I like Sony Vegas
It's dog slow at rendering unless you do the x264 hack, but apart from that pretty intuitive to use
There is none
Do you need Masks and full 4K support?
Depends on the codec used and if you're enabling GPU acceleration, and it uses OpenCL by default I believe
>Vegas
>Open source
4testing;
pitivi is available as a flatpak.
kdenlive is available as an appimage.
The only video editing I do is Sup Forums.webm and ffmpeg suffices nicely.
>captcha sitcom related (although Latka was the mechanic)
There basically isn't one.
What you are paying for is essentially license usage fees for Adobe to license their own software to consumers which uses proprietary codecs, formats and containers that don't belong to Adobe.
Its the reason Audacity doesn't ship natively with an mp3 encoder. You gotta install one seperately.
Welcome to capitalism.
How is Kdenlive not mentioned yet?
Just fucking "legally aquire" premiere.
Shortcut, Kdenlive.
Here a project for your linux programmers: Make a clone of Windows Media Maker for linux
Extra points: Make it platform independent
>what is vorbis, ogg, vp9, webm, mkv
Hell even mp3 is free nowadays
This, kdenlive is amazing, and you should use it. The most professional and with more features of them all. Other options are: Openshot or Pitivi.

Not open source but Da Vinci has some sick color correction capabilities and is free as in beer.
