Senpai, I came from a note 2 before the z3c. Personally, I was rooting for smaller and smaller phones in the 2000s, seeing the average get bigger and bigger, but bring no utility with it like a note with its pen doesn't appeal at all to me. And I'm not on my phone 24/7, being a media hog and having the best processor isn't that big of a deal for me. The performance from the 2012 note 2 is plenty for what I do.
Since the last thread pretty much died not long after I posted, here it is again For now, are the Galaxy A3 2k17 and the Xperia X Compact the only sub 5" android phones that aren't terrible available in the US? I've got a z3 compact and I want to get something a bit more up to date.

EIS is horrid bullshit, OIS matters and provides much better image quality because it moves the actual camera sensor physically to compensate for motion, EIS is shuffling the actual sensor data around aka image processing aka it suffers for it.
They had to cut corners with the OnePlus 5 or else it would have ended up being yet another $750+ flagship so, some things are going to suffer because of that.

Mi Mix is light years ahead, but suffers from being a proof of concept: spec wise isn't that great, and it's fragile as fuck, not counting the abysmal audio quality of the piezoelectric speaker. Today i dozed off in the bus and when i woke up i was several miles away from my usual stop, in a place i don't recognize even, however when i woke up i found a nexus 4 wedged between the seat, it had no sim card inserted but it was locked with a pin and it was running some kind of custom rom (turned it off and the boot animation had some masked green pig on it), i checked if it had a custom recovery and it does, so nuking everything, flashing a new rom on it (via adb push) and using it as a throwaway phone is gonna be easy as fuck, the question is, should i? It's obvious that the previous owner wasn't your average retarded normalfag, i'm scared that he put cerberus on it at root level and thus can take pictures of me jerking it to loli on my bed, all i've done with the phone so far is turn it off and put electrical tape over both cameras, just to be safe.
What do /spg/, do i throw it away? Do i keep it? I can't return it because it was locked and even if i unlock it it had no sim, so it clearly wasn't meant for calls and stuff, probably just casual web browsing, games and porn, no contacts, IMs and the like.
