Pens General!

Just ordered this sexy Lamy Lx Ruthenium NDA, As well as a relatively uncommon Lamy Logo with brushed satin steel instead of polished. Recently lost my Lamy Cp1 in a fuckin rock quarry. I have bought several fountain pens over the years and Lamy medium nib is defiantly my favorite. The closest I have come to something I prefer is ironically some shit tier Cross I bought from Office Depot or something.

What do you write with? - inb4 quill pen

oh i meant bump.

Pelikan p57

fountain pens are completely shit.
I really don't understand why people like using them.

...

I also bought these ripoff lamy safari pens for disposal use if needed

how are jet pens?

Hipsterism
I'd rather have a ballpoint with a tip that never dries

why do people want things?? jesus fuckin people and their wants i will never understand people wanting things i dont want

its your pen
you (usually) dont lose it
it doesnt get borrowed
you dont throw away a piece of plastic every month
less effort to write compared to ballpoint, means less stress and strain if you have to write a lot
watching the ink bleed out of the pen onto the paper can be quite satisfying

why do people wear watches? i mean it just hipsterism - id rather have a phone that displays the time

>less effort to write compared to ballpoint
that is where you are wrong.
Ballpoint pens are completely superior.
Writing is easier to read too.

Why you mad tho?

These are my favorite. When the K-Mart near me was closing and had their sale I hid about 10 packs of them until the sales increased to 80% off and then bought them.

This one mainly, albeit with a platinum inlayed nib rather than the gold nib in the picture.

one downside of them is that the IRS returned my tax return after 3 months of waiting just to tell me that they needed a hand-written signature because computer printed ones aren't acceptable. Pretty sure they hire apes at the IRS or something.

im mad for a lot of reasons

why do you think you can read what someone wrote on the sheet of paper under the one they wrote it on? its because you have to press into the paper

I've used tons of pens and these have been the most consistent and enjoyable to use for me.

Maybe you should invest in a good ballpoint pen.
With those I never have that problem.

You lose all of the line width control with a ballpoint, and they require much more pressure. A good fountain pen is infinitely nicer to write with. Especially after a few years when the nib has worn to match your writing habits, it's just perfect then.

Pens are for life.

i didnt say it was a problem i said its less effort

...

they are insanely understaffed and like 70% of them are within 5 years of retirement or something

plus they have to deal with every jackoff that exists ive heard horror stories about the way people mail them money, even something like covering the check in mustard

like wtf

fine felt tip was my highschool fav

Their actually Jinhao 599's I believe. Ive never actually used that site just the image.

Which you don't need since consistent line width is better for reading.

It's less effort to simply write with a ballpoint pen.
It also doesn't smear as much, and they are harder to break.

>better reading

Not really, writing should have character and elegance. I would never, for example, write a letter using a ballpoint.

It's also very useful if you want to make small doodles, or draw quick diagrams.

>harder to break
Managing to break a good fountain pen is quite an achievement. I don't think they're any less robust than ballpoints.

Also, to add, I can change ink easily which is quite nice.

only pencils and felt tips markers are ok
fountain pens, mechanical pencils are faggot's choice

You evidently didn't go to a school that expected students to write using a fountain pen.

>writing should have character and elegance.
It should be easily readable, which for example isn't.
>inb4 murrican can't read cursive
I'm German and we were forced to write cursive in primary school.
Naturally every single person dropped it afterwards.
Fountain pens are shit. Your retarded hipsterism is the only thing that makes you like them.

>mechanical pencils are faggot's choice
I will wreck you nigger.
mechanical pencils are the standard for detailed drawings.

are you from russia or something?

Whoa, a pen thread!

Make sure to join the telegram pen chat

have you even heard about rapidograph?
just die faggot

OP's handwriting is perfectly legible. You just need to be used to writing script.

>German
Well that explains the utilitarian mindset, there's more than the utility in writing.

That said, it's far from hipster, it's traditional. Plenty of my friends and acquaintances primarily use fountain pens, and have done so from their childhoods.

English. Went to Oakham school, generally speaking you'd be laughed out of the class if you didn't have a fairly nice fountain pen.

If you enjoy it that is fine, but it's still less readable, more prone to errors and smearing and generally worse than ballpoint pens.

>ink
You are the one who should die.

>Getting laughed out of class for not having a tiny rod of metal worth hundreds of dollars.
That sounds like a really good environment for learning.

Thats weird, Lamys are sold in supermarkets and card shops and Cross is promoted as a prestige brand here.

Evening guys

I don't agree that it's less readable, certainly some people write a dreadful cursive, but plenty don't. The smearing is a problem, but that's why you have a blotter.

Perhaps, but it's natural to exclude those that don't measure up. You had the worst time if you had one of the inexpensive Sheaffers or Pelikans, as then you clearly couldn't afford a good pen.

Not to go off-topic, but one of the issues that I have with the state schooling system is that in being 'inclusive', and 'supportive', it entirely fails to build character. The primary purpose of an education system is to lay bare a child's failings so they may improve or find a more suitable path.

Some old Parker 15, I tried asking here to identity once but it didn't work.

Also there's literally nothing wrong with using a regular old pen. Getting laughed out of class for having a wood pencil or some shit instead of a $30 - $150 pen is the height of faggotry

...

Lamy accent with refillable cartridge and black ink

It's the environment, fairly good thing we have strict uniforms over here otherwise it would be much worse, but the pen is the thing people could pick on.

Also slippers, oddly, that was the other one. There were no regulation slippers for boarders so a psuedo-fashion evolved around those.

yea i also bought 2 converters with my lx and logo wouldnt have it any other way

Using a bunch of kids who got overpriced shit from their parents is hardly a good qualifier for telling who is a soft faggot or not

>telling..soft...
That was the sports, discipline, moderately unfriendly environment, and having to avoid all of the old men that are into buggery. Nothing quite builds character like boarding schools.

...

Piston fill master race reporting in.

Cartridge and converters on suicide watch.

smug fuck this isnt 1929

>no one has posted grail pens

Then again, I don't have any have. How's my collection? D E M O N S T R A T O R M A S T E R R A C E. Each one has a different nib size and different colored ink. Which one should I sacrifice and put Baystate Blue in?

those are pretty sexy, i thought about getting the vista instead of lx but it seemed a little cheap looking

i will never buy a screw cap id rather eat my own shoe

Stupid question
I want a nice pen to use to fill out aerospace paperwork.
But every roller ball or fountain pen bleeds out like a mother fucker on the cheap paper my work uses.
Only own I found that doesn't bleed out and still writes nice is pic related.

What nicer pen can I use on paper that bleeds out super easily???

I have this white one
Bretty good, but the plastic is fragile
It fell a couple of times and its broekn a part of it

Comfy, good flow, minimal ghosting, really nice ink colour. Now if they only made them so that the point won't bend after they fall off your desk.

everone has those in German schools

Get thinner nib sizes. EF nibs barely bleed and if it does you can always resort to the even thinner Japanese nibs.

god i love writing on paper that bleeds its so addictive and yes smaller nib will help but it tends to be a bit scratchy

also the kind of ink you fill it with makes a bit of difference

Mine is made of plastic though, I'd prefer actual glass :/

Can anyone recommend a good multipen? Carrying too many pens at once takes up too much space.

lamy.com/content/products/writing_systems/multisystem_pens/index_eng.html

lamy of course

put some jb weld around the tip =)

>he stops himself from using sailor fountain pens because of muh converters
Lol pleb

Even by your own logic, though, you're not laying bare the child's failings but those of his father.

The Asian model of everyone with a standard-issue uniball and box of unis does much more here.

Use a gel pen like the energel or a ballpoint to be safe.

If you want to give it a go with an fp anyway, get a thin tipped one and get some ink like noodlers

That's right, boy, I use Pelikan M400.

Here's my favorite pen, and the closest I have to a grail: A white Omas 360 with a Mottishaw custom ground bold cursive Italic nib.

Does anyone else have to turn their converter plunger downward to force more ink through the pen and stop skipping/not starting?

It's getting really irritating. Happening to me with both converters and cartridges.

Using Mont Blanc black of some sort.

Those pens are extremely overpriced on jetpens. I think they're $5 each plus shipping while on Aliexpress they're $1each.

who hi-tec c here?
I like the fine points because I tend to write neatly with anything

...

Buy from amazon instead

If you meant the pens get platinum instead

goulet is the best

I've tried a fountain pen; too runny and it always bleed through whatever I'm writing on.

So far the best pens I've used are the Pentel EnerGel and the Uni Jetstream.

Seriously?

they make their own

Pic related and a Dr. Grip multi pen/pencil.

For paper I use Campus notebooks for that B5 goodness.

>1.6
Disgusting

I have year's supply of Fude Touch on my drawers at home and work.

No need to use any other pen.

That's the most retarded, pretentious tryhard hipster school i've ever heard of.

let me guess, you also need to only listen to vinyl records, drive classic British roadsters and wear an aviator's helmet.

I kinda took a liking to these, they're like a bizzare mix between fountain pen and a marker. Having baisically 3 different line widths in one pen is also neat.

Everything ITT looks like highschool tier shit. Disappointed that no one here has something a working adult would use but what is there to expect of manchildren?

Pilot Metro F and Heart of Darkness ink

>pen thread
>no ink posts

I'm disappointed Sup Forums

I have noodler's Heart of Darkness and Iroshizuku Asa Gao. I like both... recomend me a pretty ink to get next. cheap and somewhat waterproof are both prefered but not mandatory

do i really need to break out all my inks for a pic

Bully

What do you do in aerospace

Embarrassing

If I see you in class with some overpriced shit I will tell the others

...

>ever accepting to buy and use plastic
Unironically kill yourselves.
Plastic producers and plastic enablers should be gassed

Plastic pens? Plastics as a thing were one of the technologies that enabled a medical revolution... chances are your probably alive because of plastic

Man it must be fun being a grownup
