Let's build a Sup Forums approved phone

What are your wishlist features?

For me:

> No fingerprint scanner

> Removable batteries

> Rootable and flashable

I'll make the logo

Thinnest possible, enough bezels so i can grab it (so like about iphone 4), screen size about 4". has either iOS or plan 9. Fingerprint scanner because its useful. Non removeable batteries because thinness matters more.

Thickness be damned, give me a big ass battery first.

Also OLED screens are a necessity in this age.

Makes and receives phone calls.

Can't argue with that, but we aren't in the 18th century anymore.

Ew big battery. Just charge it once a day.
OLED is a huge meme, burns in and looks like shit (not like it matters on a tiny screen), ips is more than enough.

Micro SD

Dual SIM

Hardware keyboard

1080p screen, anything more is a meme

>no fingerprint scanner and front buttons
>unlock button on the side
>no camera bump
>front facing stereo speakers
>bezels as small as possible but no curved glass bullshit
>3.5mm jack
>some good DAC
>USB 3.0 type C
>removable 5k battery(at least)
>sdcard slot
>5 inch 1080p igzo display
>camera with huge sensor and OIS
>durable plastic case
>pure AOSP out of the box with TWRP pre-installed
Perfectly feasible, yet doesn't exist. Thickness is a meme.

>no fingerprint scanner
>runs rooted Android with unlocked bootloader but with freedom to flash other OSes as well
>cameras are optional
>1080p screen
>hardware keyboard
>frontal speakers like the htc one m8
>3.5mm jack with a good DAC
>at least a 10000mah removable battery
>2 SIM slots and 2 microSD slots
>standard size replaceable and upgradeable "motherboard"

Forgot the SOC:
SD835 with 8gb RAM and all LTE bands unlocked.

Winrar. Time to close the thread.

Jokes aside, makes me sad that this doesn't exist.

>No fingerprint scanner
Literally why

+NFC and wireless charging

NFC is DOA

A GS8 without the curved meme screen and capacitive/physical navbar like the GS7. Add in removable batteries or something for the autists.

If wireless charging is implemented NFC is basically free to implement, so why not.

And an IR blaster because why not.

>ew big battery
Wrong board etc

>hey let's use something that i can't change, always carry and that can be easily gotten from me as a password
>great idea
Either you get security or convenience but not both. Of course a Sup Forumsentooman would go for security.

...

You forgot IR blaster senpai

>removable battery
>trackball
>4 row keyboard
>1280x1280 AMOLED display
>USB 3.0 micro B
>Bluetooth 5
>802.11a/b/g/n/ac
>8 core MIPS CPU
>BB10OS but with QNX's hypervisor added
>AOSP in VM
I'd cream

is it really that important?

4k screen
MiniHDMI
USB C
SOC A11 or Snapdragon 845,nvidia tegra 2
6,3' bezel less
CHIMPANZEE PROOF DRAGON IRONGLASS 7
Can boot into IOS,Win10,Android(see Chuvi tablets)
8 GB ram
6000mah
Mandatory (so,comes packed with) protective case that is also a QUERTY keyboard, wireless headphones, has small projector(just 720p,we have to be real)
Thin as your paycheck, hard as your credit.

Now, I do know all of Sup Forums will shit on this but I do know they would like one.
Name: TheFreedomFone Note 7 or, in nerds language SGCPRTH-10001x

I suggest this form factor.

It's been the single standout feature for me, coming from a N5 to a Mi5

>Win10
nah

i only use it to collect various appliances and equipment to control and cause chaos on department stores appliance section.

>6.3
It's a phone thread, not a tablet thread.

waterproof, factory unlocked bootloader or official unlocking process, sd slot, 4.5in ish screen.

battery as easily replaceable as the waterproofing allows, i'd accept it needing time on the table and a cheap gasket replacement but pls no hot glue and i'd happily take 5mm added in any dimension for a screw-down
or flap cover rather than a disposable gasket.

so basically a z3 compact with an added flap on the other side over something like a canon p&s camera battery

everything is foss

underrated?!

Well,no one is forcing you to boot into win10,you can remove it(or install some home brewed win7,nightly build).
BTW. I forgot ,protective case is removable and I forgot stylus(but actually useful one) and on the side small apparatchik
so you can put on joypad similar to Switch, also VR.
All that shit is mandatory so it forces developers to use it actually, also, totally open platform(basically, every fucker can open his play store/appstore and let evolution do its thing).
It would be messy at start but in the long run, ho boy.
Smartphone that is actually smart a and useful, not some chameleons of palmpilots with GPS we got today.

6,3 Basel less is smaller than average 5.5 flagship.

>x86 processor
>physical keyboard
>easily disassemblable and cleanable

It can have a 200x200 monochrome screen and no battery for all I care.

Pic related.
Now,take that lower part away and 6.3 is smaller than average 5.5

It shouldn't come with the phone, but I agree that the phone should be compatible with it.

Manlet

>Nexus 6:
>805 MemeDragon
>3GBs of RAM
>6" screen for muh split screen apps
>unlockable bootloader, rootable, has a strong developer community due to being a Nexus
>Runs AOSP without gapps perfectly
>No FP scanner
>Wireless charging
>STEREO SPEAKERS FFS
>NFC
>Like 200$ or something in the US.

Memephone right here.

I'll start the wiki!

Gorilla.

It was the real shit at the time, better than 6p.

Its still the best "budget" phone imho, I am planning to get a OnePlus 5 but I don't want to drop the front stereo speakers and the big display. Probably will end up buying a new battery and a battery case and using this phone forever. Also Google's decision to include the binaries in the vendor partition from Neus 6P/5X and on is stupid. Way to alienate your hardcore userbase.

...

I'm an average man at 6'1. You're a manlet.

Nah, you're just a gorillalet.

lol okay kiddo

This

hardware switch for microphone + camera

> Ryzen 1800x
> Vega GPU
> 96GB ram
> 10TB ssd
> 100Ah battery
> Solar panel for charging
> Removable battery
> ArchOS (Arch on a phone)
> stock with loli and shota images
> mechanical keyboard on the front
> 5.5in touch screen
> knee sock drawer
> AR-15 stock for stability in hand
> retractable dildo (14in long, 9in girth)
> a chastity belt
> $4000 sennheisers in the box with portable tube amp and DAC
> 1366x768 display
> 3:2 display
> DNA analyzer for security
> built in VPN and TOR
> IR blaster
> projector next to the ir blaster
> dual front speakers

It controls my AC, TV, amps, and heater. It's nice having a unified remote

USB-C renders the miniHDMI port entirely redundant. USB-C can carry both HDMI and Dispalyport signals, and you're going to need an adapter for miniHDMI to HDMI anyway so that point is moot from the get go.

>hardware keyboard
My man!

>DNA=security
lol

>Titan Xp sli overclocked to 2173mhz
>7980XE overclocked to 4.6ghz
>64GB ddr4 low timings but 4500mhz

>gsync and freesync
>brightness up to 1500 nits
>2x2=4TB NVMe 960 Pro

>gorilla 6 almost shatterproof screen
>no thicker than 7 milimeters
>open source iOS
>headphone jack with built in DAC and powerful amplifier
>alloy body with tungsten heat resistence and steel strenght
>mechanical power, home and volume buttons

And priced under $500

Sailfish OS
1080p
5-5.5 screen
5000+ battery, removable
mSD slot
18MP+ Camera
32GB+ internal storage
8GB RAM
IR Blaster
Headphone jack
No hardware for SIM cards/GSM/LTE/etc.
Fingerprint reader on the back
Physical buttons in front, or at least physical home button
2 Type C ports, "waterproofed" like the galaxy S5

OK,
Perfect fone.
2gb
5.15'
32gb
Snapdragon650
MicroSD
12mpix/6mpix
1080p
2900mah
99$

shit bait

>256MiB RAM
>4GiB storage
What year is it? 2010?

you fucked up
a 625 would be god tier

my man

>Rootable
No, it should be sudo-enabled from the start.

Basically a doogee mix with a sd660.

It even has a sd slot. This phone is literally perfect and it's cheap chink shit ruined by a mediatek version of the sd 435

t. Americlap who's never heard of contactless pay

>Mi Mix
>Doogee mix
Fuck sake

>not paying exclusively with cash

>Six inch screen.
Got big hand, so it wouldn't be a bad feature for me.
>Removable battery that is atleast 4000mAh.
Survive at least 16hour under heavy use.
>I am not into rooting, but if ever get into it, then i want to do it i one tap.
But with 6.0 i find no use in rooting. Maybe later i will.
>I play games on it (yes why not. Sometimes i wish too lay in my bed hours, doing nothing usefull) so a strong (and energy efficient hardver)

>128GB internal storage (or more if there is no SD card slot)
Some of the games requires 1-2GB space.
>The display should be clearly visible even in strong sunlight.
I live in a sunny city, so it would be nice, to see clearly at anytime.
>Tablet like docker with power bank as second function. 10 inch.
For long rides movie watching. Because talking to random strangest isn't always advisable.

>be american
>get mugged
>get shot

If I could design a phone, I'd make a modern version of the Xperia Play.

No biometrics
MicroSD slot
5inch 1080p screen (higher res is pointless, the DPI is already extremely high)
Headphone jack (can't believe I have to list this as a feature these days, it should be a given)
USB-C
Google-Fi support
Custom Retroarch build specifically designed and optimized for the phone

Yeah, lets use something that can be easily stolen by someone standing behind your back instead.

Super thin with mega bezels sounds retarded

Sup Forums basically just wanted the fucking flip phone from the matrix

>implying I'll post the matrix reloaded one

>Hardware keyboard

nigger please, just pair a bluetooth keyboard

>glass fiber reinforced nylon over magnesium mid frame
>removable batteries (vary in capacity up to 10000mah)
>IP68 rating

Mom, get my Jncos, I'm buying a new phone

>No fingerprint scanner
>Removable battery
> Rootable and flashable

Nokia made the perfect smartphone years ago.

It was such a threat to Microsoft's phone ambitions they had agents infiltrate the company, forced them to switch to Windows and then ran them into the ground.
It cost them billions, but it delayed uptake of GNU/Linux for phones and helped establish phones as a locked down category of devices that could not be as capable as or compete with desktop machines.

>5inch 1080p screen (higher res is pointless, the DPI is already extremely high)

Lots of phone apps are still 720p, 1080p for them means odd scaling factors.
1440p gives you clean 720p, 2160p gives you clean 720p and 1080p.

>Rootable
If it were a Sup Forums phone, you wouldn't have to root it. The entire reason why we have to root shit is because of how much people want to screw the end user. Sup Forums shouldn't use products that have to be rooted.

Comes with preinstalled net runner

I miss my N900.
It finally died to the USB port issue and had a bad chip, so no OC for me.

>blackberry-style qwerty keyboard (sliders are okay, but the connection between the two parts makes them not as durable)
>huge battery
>good dac AND amp + physical media control buttons
>ips screen
>no bigger than 5"
>decent camera
>stock rooted android

What this guy said.
But include the fingerprint sensor on the back (in a non-retarded place), NFC and IR blaster.

>the GPS actually tells me where I am every time and doesn't just give up and tell me I'm already at my apartment when I'm trying to find my way back to my apartment

That's the only feature I want on a phone. Haven't gotten it yet.

The current Raspberry Pi based phones are a really cool concept, I hope they release an even smaller version of the Pi Zero just for that purpose say with a single USB C port for charging and input output via a usb c hub and a kit with a screen, cellular radio, and battery. With a few optional daughter boards that would get positioned at the top of the device for different camera options, headphone jack vs second usb c port, etc.

Unironically this.

Removable battery - ideally 2 for hot swapping.
SD card - ideally 2.
SIM card - ideally 2.
At least 2 USB C ports, so I can both charge and do OTG USB.
3.5mm headphone jack with decent DAC/amp.
Hardware switches to disable GSM/wifi/BT/mic/camera/etc.
Removable back so aftermarket cases can fit perfectly.
IR Blaster.
GNU/Linux, not Android.
Basic camera with a flash. No need for a front one but not against it.
5+ physical buttons (no flat buttons).
T H I C C

I'll pay up to $2000 for it, not kidding.

Big battery
Low resolution (1080p)
4g antenna extension (port on the side, for shitty reception)

Anime scales from 720p to 1080p just fine, and most emulators are upscaling from the tiny ass original resolutions used by old game consoles anyway. It makes no fucking difference. As long as the PPI of a phone screen is over 300, there's very little to improve.

>custom RISC-V mobile SoC
>modular RAM, storage, and SoC all on three small boards inside
>cellular modem that runs OsmocomBB as the baseband firmware
>special bootloader mode to enable the user to flash all of the firmware back to the respective partitions
>open source all the way down to the bootROM
>bootROM will use ASLR, but not sanity check itself in memory, so that the bootROM can be replaced temporarily in memory for custom tethered booting
>bootROM and modem will be hardware isolated from stuff like cryptography modules in the SoC
>allow the user to create a secure boot chain by signing the bootloader with their own key, which will be held on a small partition that can be accessed from bootloader mode with special verified access to the cryptography engine (kinda hard to explain)
>5000 mAh removable battery
>6 inch 1:1 OLED display at 1280x1280, sort of like a BlackBerry Passport, just with the keyboard sold separately as a case that plugs into a USB port
>will have two USB C ports, both good for data transfer and power both ways
>will have a microSD slot
>3.5mm headphone jack
>cams and mics will have a hardware master switch on the side of the phone
>will run Lineage OS or Debian with a custom UI
>super rugged design with a carbonfiber rubberized backing, magnesium frame, and the toughest glass available
>fingerprint scanner embedded under the display
>physical mute switch

Rate my phone, Sup Forums

>fingerprint scanner
No
>physical mute button
Fuck yes.

Why can't it have a fingerprint scanner? As long as the data is hardware isolated and you can choose not to use it, I don't see and issue.

i like your bootloader/rom ideas

Like other anons said, it isn't secure.

Thanks. In my opinion it's the most important part of the phone. Every phone out now has a bootROM, loader, or baseband that is unverifiable and closed source, which poses a giant security risk.

In what way? Are you forming your own opinion based on facts or are you going off of what others here told you?

What they said makes sense, but if it's optional I guess it could be included. I just see it as wasted battery space.

If battery is a concern, the phone could just be made thicker. The fingerprint scanner would be pretty thin anyways, and the space under that would already be occupied by the USB ports, headphone jack, and microSD slot.

I guess so.

Nexus 5X with upgraded internals

>Snapdragon 835 or anything with 4x cryo/A73 and shit cores for background stuff
>4GB RAM
>Vanilla android
>3.5mm and usb C ports that don't fail in a within a year

Then you can make it twice as THICC with a battery case similar to Jolla. And it's modular so I can pack a slide down keyboard on top of the extra battery case.

I've been using my Huawei P10 now for a couple of weeks and while it's nice, the Nexus just felt nicer.

Whatever it is, it needs IR and FM radio.
