wtf is this OS? Is it just another meme distro like Linux for Niggers?

And why are the project pages so lacking in actual content? Even Void isn't devoid of that.

CloverOS is a pre-riced, out-of-the-box Gentoo that's by Sup Forums, for Sup Forums. It's as close to default Gentoo as possible, with all of the configuration made in /etc/portage/make.conf unlike other Gentoo-based distros like Sabayon. The scripts can be used to install it to hard drive, generate a LiveCD and create the CloverOS repo. The CloverOS repo is built with custom CFLAGS for optimum performance, and the USE flags are configured for desktop use. It focuses on speed and low ram usage, doesn't have systemd or other service bloat, and has software out of the box. There's some dotfiles in the home directory by default to save time. CloverOS should be an all-around good desktop distro while remaining simple. The default WM is twm, which allows you to move, resize, minimize/restore windows and launch programs.

If you use Gentoo, you'll probably come to a similar conclusion as CloverOS (package.use, installed packages). The original goal was to be similar to CrunchBang/BunsenLabs, but with Gentoo instead of Debian. This has some speed and memory advantages, as well as including programs and configuration for the average Sup Forums user.

we tried it and we love it now!

In other words, it's the next meme OS like Linux for Niggers?

Is the goal to tell everyone to install CloverOS instead of Gentoo?

And is it actually usable & easy to setup, unline Gentoo? Or is a lot of it still manual?

wtf it's so easy to use even dumb people can install it!

Yes, it has an installer script.

>A script
Yes... One that you have to manually execute in a terminal screen.

It's automatically executed and has a GUI partition manager.

So why not say all that on the project's home page instead of leaving it so devoid of information? It's like there's no actual point to your having a home page.

...

Is there a plan to make a 32bit image of system?

Yeah. That along with ARM.

Good, know what I will install on my x60 soon I suppose.

...

...

...

Add the XFCE stuff please, such as volume control stuff and battery taskbar thingy.

Everything in packages.gentoo.org/categories/xfce-extra that doesn't depend on pulse/systemd is now in.

How do I install systemd?

grab the source from the site and ./configure make install

maje this thread again when it's as easy to install as Ubuntu
until then don't even show up on Sup Forums

This

Thank you! Are they there after I sync and update world?

No sync is necessary.

emerge xfce4-battery-plugin xfce4-mixer

Just installed Ubuntu today tho after dropping Clover since it lacked the XFCE stuff. Time to reinstall once I get back home, desu.

Could you also add plank dock?

I'll add Pantheon. I completely forgot about elementary.

Looks like Pantheon requires systemd/pulse. I'm going to add plank for now. *

How about adding the oldest version of unity around?

plank added

Can I use porthole instead of emerge to add the xfce stuff and plank?

Yeah

what is this unusable crap
fucking monstrosity straight from 00s

...

that's just stock ugly plasma with uglier terminal color scheme and disgusting fonts

The default DE is twm, right? Any ideas how I could change the keymap to FI from US?

oh great, I need to put something on my t60

Fuck, this thing actually sounds pretty legit

Aaaand derailed thread in 3...2...1.

wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout_switching

Could also use KDE (hit k instead of y at the Start X prompt)

>those cflags

epique

don't forget to LDFLAGS='--static'
for maximum memes ofc
>not static linking for maximum performance.

Rollan

That's why you theme it yourself.

Done that, also did it with xfce but twm refuses to use Finnish keymap.

>"pre-riced"
>"theme it yourself"

Install solus then.

It's a DE m8. Just click around.

Ill try

Request for theming twm:
>set Qt5 environment variables to use gtk3 themes and filepicker
>set Gtk2 and Gtk3 themes to Arc by default
>Tango icon theme

I might have to switch to CloverOS from Antergos. All of my images are corrupt according to 4chanX.

...

...

Is there any firewalls in the packages yet?

literally every distro kernel ships with iptables, either as a kmod or builtin.

Roll
