>Due to the negative feedback for Gateron switch from market, we no longer use that switch as defaulted switch, if you need, we can also provide, but there is no warranty for keyboard with G switch.
From a Varmilo rep about the Browns. I though Gaterons where the shits?
must have been b4 nations rep was known. Alot of people get mad if it ain't cherry mx switches. That or they are plain lying

gaterons autocorrected to nations. The fuck.
Does anyone actually use lighting unironically? Shits distracting when you are actually typing.
When I can't be arsed to turn the lights on, yeah. But I'll get solid colour keycaps soon with any luck.
Gaterons are fine on a $60 keyboard, but the Varmilos sell for around $160 and up and blatantly advertise Cherry switches. I'd be pissed too if I took off a keycap and found Gaterons.
First for overpriced abs memes. Pre yellowed for maximum aesthetic.
But aren't Gaterons and especially Brown for what I'm talking about here better then cherries?
Well yeah, but I am saying that there are rabid "cherry mx only" fans out there. Gaterons finally have dethroned cherry mxs so it will be awhile till everyone catches on.
everything besides blues are better for gaterons. Although I did hear that Gateron might actually prelube their shit so that is why they are smooth.
Regardless of how you feel about gateron smoothness, they're still only a fraction of the price of original cherries and a $160 keyboard shouldn't cost this much if it's going to include gaterons.

i used to use it until i got legible solid keycaps which just need the light from the pc monitor, not that i look much at my keyboard but i throw glances at it i guess
Thought?
at that point, why not just get blank alphas also?
either way, looks quite nice.
Didn't you want backlighting?

Thank you
Going to grab one next week

Good thing Logitech is Swiss then.
>>Varmilo VA87M black case - good
>>White keycaps - good
>>Laser engraved on front side - good

>>Cherry mx brown - good

>Did I do good /mkg/ - no you still have to kys
Better hope it has actual Cherry MX switches.
Biggest dilemma and it was only $5 difference.
Didn't want them getting in the way of thick PBTs
Well I sure hope so.
>what is quality
>what is price/performance ratio
I read in le reddit that some guy is designing a discrete buckling spring capacitive switch.
Do you have more information about that proyect?
I'm not talking about the Kishsaver, lad.
This clashes in so many different ways.
link?

Underglow is nice
Well they will apparently charge me $5 extra for no LEDs because they have a pre-build ready for me.
Guess I don't need to kms

shitty wireless membrane keyboard that came with the computer
Ducky One
What to get? I can't decide.
If the Japanese is on the table then get that, imo.
Why does anyone ever spend more than 20 cents per switch?
i'd probably pay more for beam spring switches
For any Australian anons out there
I purchased a tada68 from kbdfans on 17/06/17 and it was here within a week from Ching Chong land.
That's pretty decent shipping time given it was free.
Getting black blank EnjoyPBT for my just ordered Varmilo VA87M.
Just fuck my shit up
Posted in the last thread but didnt get any response so here i am again

Bought my first mechanical keyboard today (without making a lot of research honestly...), a Steelseries 6g v2, and im really disappointed because it just doesnt feel like an upgrade from my Microsoft Sidewinder x4 which I had for past 3 years and its still in perfect condition.
>just finished building B.Mini
>E and F9 keys don't work
We should've just holocausted those Korea gooks desu senpai
Did you at least check the pcb before you started or are you completely retarded
the VA87M comes with pbt keycaps.
That satisfying feeling when one switch on your keyboard isn't seated properly so you open it up, heat up the solder joints and fix it so all the switches are nice and aligned again
Sure, but not blank blacks that I want.
Can't you order blanks with their custom board service, or is that dyesub only
You can order blanks but they don't offer black ones. I went with the milky whites for options. Both will get good use when I get my 60% further on.
Are oetmu switches decent?
They're the best in their price category - which is objectively lower than cherry or gateron.
They're probably better than like kailh and shit like that. You'll usually find them in $20-$30 chinkboards. If you're paying $50 or more you can easily get gaterons instead (heck, the james donkey is like $40 last I checked). But if you want a budget mech, and you're not overpaying, then they're pretty alright.
Tl;dr great budget switches, you get what you pay for though
You guys use O-Rings?
Worth it? I mean they are cheap, already ordered but wondered if they are used or not so much.
I think they will make my browns feel even better.
I want to hand wire a ISO layout 63keys kbrd. This is what I will buy, tell me if it make sense.
- Controler: Arduino micro ? what would be a good controler choice ?
So yeah, I don't want a PCB and I don't need leds.
Also, good source for cheap plates and cases ?
The GH60 plates and case are the cheapest so just go with those. If you really want ISO then that will limit your choices for keycaps
I'm aware that ISO keycaps are harder to find but I'm thinking of painting them on the front side.
Are the switches themselves from mechanical keyboards waterproof? I'm wondering if it's enough to create a waterproof seal between the plate and the switch and the case to make a waterproof keyboard.
no
That's what I thought. Are there any waterproof switches, or is there a relatively easy way to make them waterproof?
There are waterproof mechanical keyboards, but the switches them selves will short if any water gets inside
Just use a membrane layer to seel the keyboard
No
how can topre even compete
That looks like it would ruin the feel of the switches. Doesn't seem worth it for the small chance of having water spill over it or something, to me at least.
Guess what I wanted isn't achievable, thanks mates.
They're awful, they make bottoming out feel like poking jelly.
Kailh box switches are as water resistant as your average modern smartphone iirc
Then get a capacitive switch instead of a mechanical one since most of those are waterproof. The feel doesn't change that much as the rubber membrane slightly increases the resistance
poking jelly sounds fun
just get stiffer o-rings
Or I could use no o-rings and enjoy the satisfying clack of hard plastic on hard plastic
Seems those are IP56 yeah, I'll keep those in mind.
I'd rather not sacrifice too much for waterproofing/resistance. And getting a membrane for the correct size seems like a nightmare unless you stick to standard sizing.
Yeah I will totally turn my 450$ mechanical board in to membrane.
What was the point of falling for mech meme then?
the activation point is above the dome
>450$
Dumb yuropoor detected
Of cource you'd think 450 is a lot of money.
Besides thats the cheapest keyboard with cherry MX switches at only 35€, which is perfect for porrfags like you. and you can take it off if you don't like it
give me good keyboard

what do PBT keycaps feel like? is it true they feel gritty like some shitty old plastic would feel like? why would you want that? I know they last long but you get bored of keyboard/keycaps after 3-5 years anyway.
they feel good as fuck it's like a really fine grit
they make smooth ones too
aliexpress.com
cheaper chinese pbt definately have that grit feel that makes typing fucking hurt desu. But quality PBT the grit is only there when its new. they feel really nice after you break them in
good quality ABS > bad quality pbt imo
russian so you can pretend to be a 1337 hax0r
I will kill you now
weeb
PBT is a softer plastic then ABS. It comes in both rough and smooth varieties
I found this for $85
Worth?
No its worth like 40$ new,
hell no
it's like $40 new? (maybe not the same version)

even for $40 i'm not sure it's worth it
