You can try Opensuse, it's really easy to use, has a good comunity and looks pretty pretty out of the box

not OP but I installed gentoo a few weeks ago, now i have to install a new kernel with genkernel but every time i run genkernel it just boots up the old kernel next time i restart. how do i install the new kernel and how do i run it? do i have to clikc on it?

-download cinnamon 64 bit if your pc is good, MATE 64 bit if it sucks.
-make a live USB with a flash drive and Rufus (rufus.akeo.ie
-boot your computer with the usb drive (you may need to enable CSM in your BIOS, search the web for more info)
-wait for mint to boot
-once it does, double click the "install linux mint" icon and follow on-screen isntructions.
-(optional) commit suicide. Not related to the process but always a good idea.

my friend with little knowledge of even windows is happily using ubuntu, so it shouldn't be too hard. However, why do you want to run linux anyway if you're this normie?
