I've had a FUCKTON of bad experiences with those pro and elitebooks... Parts just failing one after another, panels not fitting together properly... Latitude or thinkpads are usually built better

I think he was trying to get at the fact that buying a cheap machine means you get what you pay for. A used older model is often a better budget buy than a brand new cheap machine. I just got a Thinkpad T420 with an i7 and 6 gigs of ram for $145 US. You simply could not buy a new machine of comparable build quality and maybe not even performance for that kind of price.
