If you're the gaymer type sure, you might still want to be stuck on Windows. But if you're buying something like a laptop either linux or macOS are superior choices. You can do most shit on macOS (it is just not as much of a walled garden as some people make it out to be) and it's pretty fucking good on laptops. I own an X220 I'm trying to sell (because I don't use it at all) but hackintosh was pretty decent on it.

Now, a macbook a decent investment I'm not too sure, but I would grab one to be honest, as long as I knew which model was better because it seems that a new one doesn't guarantee better quality anymore.

For what it's worth, I worked for a company that went with Ubuntu and while the admins never had to worry much about real issues, the office drones got confused by the shit and asked for help all the fucking time. Sure, most were old but kids these days learn how to use MS Office and Winshit in schools and Libre/Loonix just aren't as intuitive to replace it and often not worth the cost savings from licenses.

MacOS is a pretty decent example how you can do something else and still make it work, because the UI is so great.

Touch bar is a pretty good idea to be honest. It's just not revolutionizing anything. All it really does is instead of function keys you can see the actual function displayed. I don't think it's inferior to non touchbar it's just that it's only barely better.

That's a brutal fallacy - the costs on Windows are higher because Windows offers more stuff. For example Azure is counted as an expense, but macOS doesn't even have an alternative to it. Of course you can lower support costs that way, but you're just cutting away features, not implementing a better/cheaper alternative.
