Not Xfce. Fuck the shills.
MATE and LXDE
windows

The one I use.

The one you use.
Aero
it is tho
i3
Budgie.
dwm
xfce if you're intelligent
i only tried xubuntu. it does the job for me.
this one
There's isn't any they all suck equally bad for all OS's.
kys
Mac OS
MATE, Cinnamon, Budgie are all really good
gnome if you have good taste in women
kde if you are gay
xfce if you are a wizard
KDE if you actually want to get things done.
Anything else if you're autistic.
i3gaps or lxde
KDE if you're 10 years old
GNOME if you are a faggot
Unity if you are autistic
Cinnamon if you're a cuck
Mate if you're braindead
Xfce if you use Reddit
LXDE/LXQt if you are poor
Any tiling window manager if you are TRULY autistic and a neet
CDE or OpenLook
do window managers count? i3
So what tiling WM do you use?
then whats the DE for a straight successful alpha male like me?
Ncurses with tmux.
>Linux
>getting things done
lmao
This
I boot straight into text mode with a VT100
>this is what winbabbies actually believe
I implore you, get a job as a programmer or anything related to programming.
Windows XP motherfucker
I use i3 and I'm not a NEET. Configuration of a WM is a one time investment, I just keep my config files and copy them after every installation.
i3 or Fluxbox
I know user, I was just epic trolling. You can use whatever you like.
i3 in my opinion, but this opinion is heavily influenced by me loving the way it splits shit in half so I don't have to do it myself

Workspace Manager
stability? Xfce.
looks? KDE.
I use MATE because it's a good balance between stability and looks.
Windows DWM
just werks :^)
>no high dpi scaling
KDE and LXDE
this is why you shouldnt use high dpi monitors
based CDE poster
LXQt
>i3

Aqua
Lumina because it uses qt5 and is made with *BSD's in mind.
Hi clown
xrandr --output eDP1 --scale 1.25x1.25
I think it is wise to use the default/main DE of the distro you are using, since you will not see it anyway when using tiling wm. You can use it as a fallback if you break something and it will be helpful if you encounter a problem with your distro and find a solution online that is gui based.
CDE is the only answer.
>Common
>Desktop
>Environment
KDE, XFCE, GNOME. Anything else is a meme and should just be abandoned.
>Says the other projects should abandoned
>Justifies both GNOME and KDE existing at the same time
Pick only one
XFCE for ricing, literally anything else for fucking around
>barely any customization
>can't set the taskbar to the bottom or it glitches the fuck out
Sounds like it could be a revelation for you to use it. You'll see the defaults are often just fine and time is better spent on productive things.
both are good in their own way. it's literally a matter of preference. They SHOULD both exist at the same time since they're both the best DEs currently, KDE being much better imho.
I'd be okay with just having the taskbar on the bottom without it fucking up on me.
The second from left?
Is it possible to install a stable CDE on Linux?
>MATE
>Stable
dwm+dmenu+st
If you have to ask...
sourceforge.net
Works on Debian
Aqua
This
What the fuck are you talking about I use it on a Mac with retina, you have to spend a little bit configuring stuff but it does work with hi dpi
Really depends on your priorities and what you're looking for.
>GNOME is heavy on resources and light on customization but feels very cohesive due to their default applications.
>KDE is very customizable and modern and much lighter on resource usage, plus comes with arguably the most powerful default applications in all of their respective categories.
>Xfce is nearly if not completely as customizable as KDE but with slightly lower resource usage. It's default applications are lacking (their text editor Mousepad doesn't have syntax highlighting or line numbers for example). It also doesn't update frequently so it's great for stability. The default menu doesn't have search but Whisker is universally available.
>MATE is maybe slightly heavier than Xfce but with much better default applications. It's also got a fantastic control center application where you'll find all of your settings in one place. It's menu doesn't have a built in search and Brisk menu isn't available universally, but it's coming.
As far as others go, in my mind LXDE is dead and LXQt isn't ready yet. Budgie is about to receive a full rewrite in Qt (instead of GTK), and Cinnamon and Pantheon are only REALLY available on single distros. Personally, I use GNOME.
Fluxbox
MATE is broken and outdated as fuck.
What exactly is broken and outdated about it?
tmux
gnome is OBJECTIVELY the best
nothing to do about it
Budgie
>using the smiley with a carat nose
MATE, and linux mint is the best OS. Come at me Arch and debian fags.
Just wondering, how does it break for you? I use it on the bottom without issue.
FPBP
...
KDE
I have to admit the idea of the xfce devs being able to hire shills is pretty hilarious
fvwm2
evilwm
KDE if you want file picker thumbnails.
This one and as for most aesthetically pleasing its...
this.
personally I choose LXDE
.. it's this one
This is the correct answer.
Is there a DE designed for TV/HTPC usage? Kodi works fine for movies, but it's horrible for chinese cartoons. Thought I'd rather just use VLC or mpv with some kind of a remote. The issue would just be how to have a decent file browser that.
Linux gets shit done.
If you manage the troubleshoot the endless quantities of fucking bugs/errors with 7 year old forum threads
I don't know about the best, but the worst is definitely gnome
kek
Workbench
what's so bad about gnome?
Ubuntu MATE crashes while using firefox.
Screen tearing.
It's worse than XFCE.
>MUH GNOME2!
There's absolutely no reason to use it.
Cinnamon
Video tearing can easily be solved by installing KDE and using kwin as your DE's window manager.
Unarguably Cinnamon.
