You're coworkers are idiots.

Install a RAT on their machines and then anonymously blackmail them

You don't do anything interesting enough to be worth spying on anyways. Stop being a paranoid faggot. No one is out to get you.

Make fun of him being so desperate for attention he'd let feds watch him

lmfao as they should. who the fuck buys a laptop with a camera hahahahah

>nuffing to hed muffins 3 furr
This argument was debunked before you were born

Show me a modern laptop without one, fucktard.

stop being a fucking idiot

...

EBIN :^)

> the camera is on the fuckhuge chin

Why are there webcams in modern laptops anyway? Their quality is straight dogshit, something back from 90's. Seems like a waste of space.

I mean, smartphone cams are able to record in 4K nowadays, why the fuck can't the laptop ones?

That laptop does have a camera next to the dell logo

Honestly, though, who cares? What are you going to be doing at work that's so important that someone taking a video of you makes you uncomfortable. Like if someone wanted to take a video of me sitting and pen pushing for eight hours out of the day I wouldn't give a shit, they're the ones wasting their time.

Obviously, there's exceptions to this like if you have sensitive documentation on or around your desk/workspace that a observer could use maliciously, but most of the time this wouldn't really be an issue as you shouldn't have these things sitting around anyway.

That being said, I have minimal experience in an office environment so what do I know. At home is a different matter, but even then it does seem a bit crazy unless you're trying to protect your children or you have people who would like to maliciously gather information on you. Otherwise, why would anyone want to document your boring ass lifestyle?

Somebody explain this seemingly pointless paranoia to me, please.

Because your phone costs as much as (or more than) your laptop, which means you’re purchasing an incredibly low-end laptop with the low-end parts that come with it.

Phone cameras are built for different purposes than laptop cameras. Nobody needs 1080p for Facetime or Skype - they’re simply for ease of communication. My MBP camera does incredible video. It’s 720p, but it’s incredibly clear and crisp.

You do need high resolution when you’re taking landscape photos or portraits, which is why phone cameras are continually being upgraded in every new phone release.

who cares what normies think of anyway

And you were dropped on your head once you were born

privacy is a important issue at a large scale but if you think that you'd being spied on personally you're narccisistic retard, nobody cares enough to watch you jerking off on your webcam, and even if they did, what do you stand to lose?

Show them their titts& dicks and see whos laughing then. Its all fun and games till you realize some fucking NSA nigger is sitting behind his screen getting paid to look at ur dick fapping to porn. Literally the most perverted thing I can think of.

...

Public exposure.

Where can I buy this?

>Nobody needs 1080p for Facetime or Skype
Fuck you, maybe I do.

>privacy is important
>but I don't care about it

newegg where i got the pic. or asus' amazing website

it's better when the pimples are covered by more flattering pixels. stay low res my friend

It literally takes

Would you like someone to see you fap? Do you have any idea how the data is used? Do you realize it can be used against you years later? If you realized what government actually does and its intents you would have a mental breakdown on the spot.

makes you look like a paranoid retard

Your a fucking maroon

>seconds of your time and less than a penny worth of tape
>public embarrassment
Tough choice bro.

And?

I don't care if a goverment agent hypothetically sees me jerking off, it's his problem not mine

I want every detail of my monstrous cock to be appreciated in glorious HD by my Skype partner.

>lol don't put small peice of tape on your camera you never use bro! who cares lol you fucking nerd faggot just give up XD

it's more about the fact that you allow yourself to be a deluded idiot than any sort of public embarassment, which is the reason why people will laugh at you in the first place

that keyboard looks like it's cancer to fingers

>implying that's why governments spies on its citizens
this is what brainlets think

that's not why they do it but that's the only thing they're going to see

probably is shit to type on

More importantly: why do people keep covering their laptop cameras but not their phones self facing cameras?

and what if guys with who you work in your company will see it?

OP they are not laughing at you because you are paranoid but because you are hypocritical asshole and faggot.
>put tape on laptop instead of making it secure
>using machine that you assume is compromised
>if they have access to your camera they will have access to everything else so I hope you don't type any passwords and don't have any secret documents
>put tape on laptop but don't put tape on phone

are you some kind of a hacker or something

why would the goverment share videos of me with the people I work with

You can't make a work laptop secure but you can minimize damage.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbins_v._Lower_Merion_School_District

Most of the people around me tape the webcam on their laptops. It's seen as a natural thing here in my country. Perhaps we're better at understanding and respecting privacy than whatever your cuck ass is from.

>implying I can't use some black tape to hide it so it looks stock af
nigga

You were an activist or were running for some sort of political office.
Their database was breached by hackers and released en masse.

>tfw, everyone on my university puts tape on their laptops camera

If there is a way the government can spy on your webcam, so can other people, including script kiddies.

If I was an in politics or someone important then I would care about it
But I'm not, and neither is the OP

but they also use fagbooks so they don't really count do they

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbins_v._Lower_Merion_School_District
Holy fuck, it's the first time I'm reading about this. Why would anyone think spying on kids would be a good idea? Who's more delusional in this case: the person who decides to take his privacy in his own hands or a faggot who, for some psychopatic reason, feels like intrusion like that is totally justified.

The chances of a script kiddie who doesn't know you who can use an NSA backdoor randomly watching you then doxing you and sharing something with people you work with are lower than the chances of you being struck by lightning

Yeah, sure. As low as the chances of some script kiddie groups getting their hands on weaponized NSA exploits to cause at least two global cyberattacks causing shit ton of damage in a month... Oh wait.

no, the chances of script kiddies getting their hands on NSA backdoors are 100%, the chances of them targetting YOU specifically (unless you've pissed someone off) are extremely low, if you think random hackers are out to get you you're a paranoid delusional

Eternalblue is a CIA exploit, not an NSA one.
It was released in the shadowbrokers stuff.

The parents and students weren't told and school employees/it people denied it multiple times and said camera light flickering was a glitch.
They also "lost" photos taken.
>Those 429 images, however, only reflected the number of images later recovered—during the ensuing litigation the district conceded it had been unable to recover a week's worth of images that it had taken

Highly likely it was pedo pics of female students doing things in the apparent privacy of their rooms.
The idea that these creeps who we know took pictures of sleeping students didn't watch and record them masturbating or undressing is unrealistic.

Most of them yes, but at least it's something.

U cant see anything with the tin so low over ur face user

thank you i did not know that was a thing. OP i apologize my dear friend but fuck you they're out there and you know it.

The chances of someone walking into my home to steal or hurt me is low but I still lock my door.
It's literally a minute of your time to put some discreet black tape on it.

But they might be scanning lots of computers/webcams around the internet and once they find something interesting, they save it and can possibly blackmail you. You could also get infected with a virus that sends your webcam feed directly to somebody else.

Even if you think you're smart enough not to get said virus, not all basic users are. If you think it's not worth using 5 seconds of your life to block a webcam (especially if you don't even use it) then that's your choice. But I don't see how it makes somebody paranoid or dumb who does it.

the chances of someone breaking into your home is still a thousand times higher than anyone will even view your webcam, let alone dox you and try to ruin your life with it

>You could also get infected with a virus that sends your webcam feed directly to somebody else.
lmao

>if you think random hackers are out to get you you're a paranoid delusional
But that's exactly who they're after. It doesn't matter if I'm a part of a bigger group or not, I still am under threat. I'll take 2 secs of my time to make my environment more secure over getting fucked in the ass by whoever decides to exploit the vulnerability, thank you.

Tomato tomato, you get my point.

>being this butthurt about some tape providing extra level of security
Literally why does this bother you???

If you could draw a small dot on your shoe and it would save you from lightning strikes would you not do it?

So somebody is going to scour all the networks in the world to find the devices with cameras on them so they can then record footage of the owner of said device masturbating.

And for what? I think even you with your fear mongering has to admit that concept seems a bit off the wall. Sometimes I feel like this whole overbearing security thing is a meme and the perpetrators are trolling.

Also, how would you know "their" plans with this data would make me have a panic induced heart attack on the spot? What are "their" plans, user? Are we just memers here?

I've seen this happen.

Hack their fucking toaster see how they feel.

>not uninstalling the laptop camera completely

no they're after people they disagree with personally/politically or they cast wide nets to target many people at once. No hacker who can do anything is going to bother trawling through webcams just to find you personally, but keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel valued

>So somebody is going to scour all the networks in the world to find the devices with cameras on them
Do you live under a rock? You realize this can be done by bots and be automated right?

>not just totally removing the webcam driver
Why are Sup Forums users so pathetically inept at using computers?

Uh, yes. I know people who look for open cameras for fun.

>trusting software completely
>not using simple physical solution that also allows you to easily use camera when needed
wew lad

You're a moron lol.
You're so butt hurt about some straw man of people thinking they're special target that you can't stand thought of people blocking a fucking camera when it's not being used.

You seem way too focused on the pasturbating part. It'sthe idea that matters. Say, you live in the US and for some reason the morning news made you angry so you exclamed: "I fucking hate Trump!". What you didn;t know is your smartphone records everything you say and sends it to NSA servers for further analysis. Soon the law against insulting the president is made and the offense is punishable by up to two years in prison. Police shows up at your door, demonstrated they have evidence against you, you get packed up. Would you like to prevent this scenario from happening? If you think that's retarded and would never happen in the US, I hope you're right, but there are places in the world where this exact shit happened many times over.

>If I was an in politics
what if literally hitler wins election and you participate in protests?

I mean there isn't really any other than social implications, which people on this board don't take seriously enough but I would suspect in this case it's pretty minimal.

Besides that, though, what's the harm in leaving it off? Like seriously somebody give me a concrete answer: what is it that you don't want video to be taken of?? They can't capture your computer activities with a webcam so why bother? Except of course for obvious exceptions like drug dealing or etc.

Jesus, I mean, I bet you could gather more information by using the built in mic and picking up the tiny vibrations from the computer to translate into bits, right? Unless theirs a mirror that reflects directly onto your work area but, y'kno, exceptions exceptions

well that's the reason people get delusional about piracy, it makes them feel important, like they have something that makes them worth being spied on. Nobody cares about you

>Besides that, though, what's the harm in leaving it off?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbins_v._Lower_Merion_School_District

Are you ok with cameras in your bathroom?

>No hacker who can do anything is going to bother trawling through webcams just to find you personally
The process can be and has been made (even as a PoC) automated. Even I as a huge fucktard who doesn't know a thing can think of a few ways of exploiting mass surveilance of common people for profit.

I feel like people like you who seem to get upset at people taking bare minimums of ensuring privacy because it means they "think they're special" have some deep seated psychological issues with self worth.

what kind of images does the automation look for? naked people?

well, you're wrong, and your "bare minimums of privacy" are paranoid delusion, hence why normal people with common sense laugh at you

That's not the same thing and you're autistic for drawing the comparison

NSA shills pls go

I personally never felt like I am important enough to ever be spied upon or anything, I know nobody gives a fuck about me. That doesn't mean I shouldn't put a reasonable amount of effort in protecting my privacy the same way I put a reasonable amount of effort to not get robbed and/or killed on the street. The chances of the latter are extremely small too, and the perp(s) would probably not give a fuck about me too, that doesn't make them any less scarier. When you go outside you tend to wear clothes without giving much though about it, don't you? What stops you from getting out naked if nobody gives a fuck about you anyway? Stop wiping your ass after you take a shit while you're at it too.

Are you doing something illegal, user? Are you a terrorist or a pedophile? If you have nothing to fear, then you have nothing to hide, so tell us: Are you ok or not ok with putting a camera in your bathroom?

Keyboard presses, credit card numbers, passwords, directions to where something valuable is hidden, personal info that might get exploited to gain something, anything like that and much more. It's not just the images, it's the sound too.

>Are you ok or not ok with putting a camera in your bathroom?
Fuck you and your bullshit. I'm not the user you were replying to but I gotta have my fucking privacy.

Yes, of course I realize this. I suppose I was referring more to the ridiculousness of constantly monitoring and wasting the resources to effectively survey thousands upon thousands of users' home devices. The bandwidth needed to support this would be phenomenal wouldn't it?

Ok, sure, good for them, but like my previous point before, what are they going to do when they find someone who hasn't taped their laptop? Watch them do mildly embarrassing things and then jack off because he has some weird fetish associated with this? Where's the part that makes me have a mental breakdown? Maybe I just don't really care that much if people know what I do at my computer.

This actually seems like a pretty valid point and I suppose I live in a bit of a paradise in that regard where I'm free to express myself, so I tend to miss the finer points of defending my privacy.

So the bathroom has to be a 'safe space' where you can organise terrorist attacks and molest children then.
We cannot have these kinds of spaces, they threaten our very existence.

>I'm not the user you were replying to but I gotta have my privacy.
You must be some sort of terrorist or pedophile. Anyone who refuses to have cameras in their bathroom is either a terrorist or a pedophile. After all... nothing to fear, nothing to hide!

The chances of being robbed are much higher and the risks of getting your webcam recorded are much lower. Who the fuck flashes their credit card at the camera?
