They can't.

Every time you make one of these 'even compete' threads you put 'can' in the wrong place.

They dont and wont

There is any good guide for learn latex?

Too lazy for google it

ShareLatex Docs is pretty good.

I wrote this one for me ele students.

Thanks, I'll give it a try ;)

I have the tex file too if you want, compiling it is a good place to start the first document.

>his arrows go from negative to positive voltage
opinion discarded

I want pls

If you are on linux, the kile editor is very good

That's how electrons actually flow. And it's not voltage, it's potential difference.

How can wordfags even compete?
better?
show me the rule or explain please

it's not only unconventional, it isn't even used consistently. also the current arrows are wrong if you want to use electron flow direction

You could check your local university's Maths department to see if the teach a course. You may be able to sit in on the class with no one noticing if there's a large enough class size.

Actual current flow direction is irrelevant.
The potential can be positive and negative, but without indication of how they should be considered, there can be confusion to how it should be calculated.
The circuits were from their first written assignment and the task was about how they can use superposition to calculate fig. 1 by calculating fig 2 a/b.
I didn't make the assignment though, I just wrote the latex guide.
I will correct it for future reference

Moved from LaTex to DocBook, feels good to return 21 century

How can google docs fags even compete?

>show me the rule or explain please
no t. romance language fag

By exporting to latex.

Why do people use this over git?

Yes that is better
What's your first language user

Because they're retards

russian
but how is that better? ot it just is?

No need to worry about merge conflicts.

not really an issue for documents.
I have done this a lot of times and every time there has been a conflict, it was easily resolved and I have always been glad that I resolved it over some automated guesswork.

Dont complain then lol

watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=lQ-UCI9nmis&list=PL-p5XmQHB_JSQvW8_mhBdcwEyxdVX0c1T

This video will explain why Latex is really not hard and is a lot more powerful than Word. It is the first of 11 videos on learning Latex

I prefer LaTeX as well and have written many papers during uni. I've even created my resume and business cards with it. But sadly no-one you will commercially work with, either internally or externally, will put up with it. M$ Office is still the preferred choice of most, because most don't (care to) know to with anything else.

Hmmm a 'word processor' named after a material favoured by homosexuals.
Really makes you think

>large enough class size
>class involving writing in LaTeX

I don't know if such a class exists. But I bet most math professors wouldn't give a shit if you didn't disturb anybody.

The best way to learn Latex is NOT to try and learn all the keywords and type it out by hand but rather use a graphical editor where you just press buttons on a toolbar that will output the syntax for you. This is a tutorial that uses Texmaker which is a good free and open source wysiwyg Latex editor:

this is the first of 15 videos in a tutorial playlist

>LaTeX is a featured book on Wikibooks because it contains substantial content, it is well-formatted, and the Wikibooks community has decided to feature it on the main page or in other places.

I think you missed the point of the picture as a whole user. The figures may be wrong and completely nonsensical, but they're there to demonstrate that generating such figures using raw text is possible, and show how they're generated in the raw .tex file.

wtf, you can make circuit diagrams with latex?

How far do latex graphics capabilities go?

Pretty much anything is possible through the various latex graphics libraries. Go check out tikz, I think that's what the other user used to create those figures, or atleast it should be possble to generate such figures using tikz.

Ty ill give it a try ;)

>attempting to bait me into explaining the pronunciation of LaTeX
Wew lad, you almost got me good.

Пoшли oбpaтнo нa cocaч

it's shit that's how.

it's a poor and obtuse markup for fags that's inferior to blink and javascript.

I pronounce LaTeX like it looks. This triggers you.

>LaTeX (feat. Pepe the Meme Frog)
ffs

W-wait, is it not pronounced "lay-tecks"

oh god

Can you do a vocaroo for us then? Thanks.

It's "lah-tek."

That doesn't make sense at all. There's an X. It has to be pronounced one of two ways:

Lay-tecks
Law-tay-ecks - If we go by the caps.

Putting an X there and pronouncing it like a K not only makes no sense, it makes the designers look like a bunch of hipsters that can't breathe through all the pompous shit they fill their own air space with.

Plenty of languages pronounce the letter "x" as a "k", in this case it comes from Greek. In IPA notation "x" is also a "k".

There's plenty of illogical spelling in English. In English, the letter "x" is completely superfluous anyway.

LaTeX was written in the 80's. Maybe the devs were hipsters but they had a lot of influence nonetheless.

Next time you try to be autistic, please do it thoroughly.

Nobody's going to use their pronunciation but you anyway. Get used to it.

Oh, and giff.

>no such thing as negative voltage
>what is mesh analysis
idiot

Everyone in acedemia says "lay-tec". So 95% of LaTeX users say "lay-tec"

anybody who is not a moron says "lay-tech' or 'lah-tech'

only a jackass would say latex as in fetish apparel

I wouldn't work with anyone who uses this shit. Insufferable arrogant autists.

I intentionally call this "lay-teks" cause it helps me identify autistic people.

>acedemia

In an English question, word order is inverted. SVO becomes VSO. So
>how
Adverb, placed before the verb
>can
Verb
>wordfags
Subject
>even compete
Object; dunno how though.

>not troff

>not writing a masters thesis as a manpage

That reminded me, while looking for papers from 1980 I noticed that files that ended with .doc were actually plain text files.

Latex = "I never had a job outside of school"

Nobody uses your autism shit in real life, where getting shit done is priority.

Microsoft didn't invent the unholy mess that is the OOXML standard until the late 90s

> where getting shit done is priority
While it's true that Word is used more than LaTeX, that is because it's easier to learn for a newbie. But if we are talking about getting shit done, LaTeX wins.
I don't know anymore how many times I've sworn using Word. I admit it, I've lost it a few times even with LaTeX, but it's not even comparable to how much irritating Word is.

You can use both, write in DocBook and use pandoc + LaTeX for rendering, if you want the style of LaTeX document classes without touching XSLT. In my case, I've been working with another XML-based documentation format, S1000D, which doesn't have a lot in the way of freely available stylesheets or tools, so converting to DocBook first to use pandoc has been very helpful.

This.

>how do wordfags compete?
They don't feel they need to as they are actually making money.

They don't need a degree to make a document.

On the other hand, they'll never get a degree.

Where I am you could turn up to any lecture and they wouldn't care

lolnope.

Newbies getting shit done: Word
Pros getting shit done: Word+VBA

>tfw whole enterprises infrastructures rest on some hacky 10y old excell macros

>I never had a job outside of school
I have never worked in an office, but given I currently work for a university, sure.

As for the autism, writing documents in latex is easier once you have learned how.
Learning how is very easy (if you speak english). The hard part is accepting that some parts better to be controlled by software than by the author and layout should only be dealt with when the content of the document is known.

LaTeX is used in academia, research, publication, etc.
Word is used is wagecuckery office slave jobs and the like.
What you really meant to say was "Latex = 'I never had a job that paid less than 60k/yr' "

The world economy literally runs on Excel

have you not seen that word before or is it one of your trigger words?

It doesnt. Excel is used by plebs with business degrees. (((quants))) use python.

uni profs get paid more than that

I use latex at work to write reports and the like. yeah I could use word but that shit is gay

>comparing a spreadsheet to a programming language
you have reached a level of stupidity previously unheard of

if you said minitab (R but you know what I mean (or not)) or something that would have been fine, but you didnt

I think they were commenting on the irony of misspelling "academia".

Quants don't run the economy they just make money off it. Wageslave Big 4 accountants do

I use it all the time at work.

>How wordfags can even compete?
Well Sven, word is a wysiwyg editor whose format is the de facto standard for business.

LaTeX is comparatively niche, requires marking up a plaintext file to generate an output with is often subtly wrong due to reasons hidden in its hoary internals, and is mainly used for technical documents.

So... that's how they even compete can.

Haha keep dreaming grantcuck, I've seen contracts literally in the multi millions (reinsurance) written up in fucking word.

Thing is, people were using plain text .doc files for ages before MS created the binary DOC format.

>insurance
Yeah, officecuck work. YOU will never see that kind of money using Word.
