Monitor arms

Are monitor arms just a meme?
I found some that are like pic related for about $30
Are they actually useful or are they just another meme to avoid?

Just a meme. I spent 100 bucks for some arms for my screens thinking it would make my desk feel more aesthetic and cool but it did not. The normal stands were better desu

I have one. It saves space on my narrow desk and looks cool. That's about it.

they're nice, being able to adjust them to your liking
i find that the regular stand on most monitors is just too low

this

Helps keep the desk clean if you're using more than 1 monitor.

Not a meme. Clears up a ton of room.

Wot desk i need

Monitor arms are nice if you work in an "open" office and frequently need to show someone else your monitor or move it out of the way to talk to someone.

They're also nice because they elevate the monitor higher than most stands--to eye level--so you don't have to hunch over your screen like Gollum gazing at his Precious.

those desk vice ones are great for space saving
they're pretty stable too

I wish i had a desk that the arms could be mounted to. Both of my monitors have completely unadjustable stands. They are at totally different angles, they are different heights. I fucking hate it.
However the back of my table has like a plank of wood running along it so the mount will have no where to clamp to and the freestanding ones defeat the purpose of saving mad deskspace, yo.
If you have low quality monitor mounts like me, are tight on space, value the ability to adjust your monitor(say point one at your couch or bed for a movie) then get them. They're dirt fucking cheap, even for the nice gas spring+usb hub ones.

you can screw some arms on the wall I think.

Online? Post a link.

Aside from botnet 10, this looks comfy af

What's the lamp?

Not online, local shop

>tower on the desk

>mirror behind the monitors

not who you replied to but Im forced to do that or Ill choke my psu on the carpet
so much room wasted, hate this shit

get a board of wood, like a drawer or something and put that on the carpet. then put your computer on top of that, i did that for years

>the contrast ratio on the right monitor
I don't think stands are your biggest issue right now

I'm blind as fuck and sit 1.2m away from my screen so I love them. I can just pull the monitor closer without disturbing my desk instead of leaning forward.

Not a meme but sometimes overpriced.

Got 2 arms from AmazonBasics (overpriced) and happy with that shit.

Left Laptop, middle display. Very smooth to move.

Depending on the table you use, you'll probably won't even need to drill holes for it.

I have a dual arm for my 2 monitor setup, which otherwise wouldn't even fit in my desk.

The real pain in the ass is finding one that can be adjusted to be stiff enough to actually hold the weight of the screen without gradually falling down other a week, yet giving you enough amplitude to adjust it precisely, and without moving at the slightest touch when you're pressing the buttons. I have expensive ones at my job, even then it's a pain in the ass, plus the bitch cleaning the desks moves them around every single time as she sweeps the dust on top.

So yeah it cool, you can put shit underneat your screen, but in the end, a stand is better. If you really want something nicer looking and a flat spot underneath your screen, just get a new stand.

No it isnt. I've never had this problem with my 3M arms or my Ergotron, the former has a ratcheting system for height and the latter has springs. The Ergotron LX HD even has a 40" TV mounted to it and it could hold even more weight. Stop being poor and buying the cheapest arms you can find.

no ty

Does everyone on Sup Forums have the same steelseries mousepad? I've got one.

To be able to see behind you at a glance without turning around. Also reflects light to what is usually a dark space.

Have a PLP setup and arm based supports are superb! Adjustable piston support, 4 rotational points and it's easily mountable. Just make sure your desk is big enough.

fuck off you worthless retard

KARLBY, maybe?

They do clear up a lot of space, lets you vertically mount 21:9 monitors too which is great for essays and reading. Honestly they're a pain in the ass to set up, but they cleaned up my setup nicely (pic related)
