I really want to change to loonix, but there are no games.
What will I do during my down time?

everyone dual boots anyway you know
very few people are autistic enough to run linux alone
You idiot. I am playing Hacker Evolution Duality right now, on GNU/Linux.
Not everyone, I don't need it.
>Hacker Evolution Duality
>5/10 game on steam review
nothx
also it is much harder to pirate games on loonix
The game is running on WINE not Steam, you pleb.
>running on WINE
>game randomly crashes at random point and will never be fixed
that's not a good time
ark survival something, rust, dota 2, half lifes, portal 2, team fortress, counter strikes, wasteland 2, civilization 5 (maybe 6 too, don't know), europa universalis iv, saints row iv, payday 2...
there are more, and even more you can play using playonlinux (i.e. eve online and world of warcraft, skyrim, fallout 3, fallout NV works pretty good)
How many gaymes you need anyways...
>no games
There are, You can install steam on linux
do vns work in wine?
>ark survival something,
multiplayer game
>rust
same
> dota 2
same
>half lifes, portal 2
played it x times already
>team fortress, counter strikes

>wasteland 2

>civilization 5 (maybe 6 too, don't know),

fps
I find there are plenty of games
Just install dosbox
Good job you were able to catogrize the games, what's the problem
Watch youtube with screen tearing.
This fampai. Windows+Linux dual boot masterrace
don't change to 'loonix'.
/thread
dual booting is for poor people
OP Expects you to be able to know what type of game he likes
But doesn't say it and then shuns you ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯
Fuck you're retarded...
Please don't use Linux, stick to windows, less people like you the better.
>no games
Steam
GOG
HumbleBundle
Browser games
Emulators
WINE
KVM
Yes, you have only 50% of the games available on windows, but do you really need all the shitty games exclusive to it like pic related?
DUDE
SPACING
LMAO
Also Saints Row isn't an FPS you inbred.
watch anime
there are an assorted amount of games on Linux tho.
the point is, are you intending to install linux on a gaming computer? if yes, then you are an idiot, theres no practical reason for. nvidia and radeon graphics drivers are a headache on linux.
if you are installing linux on a common laptop or regular non gaming computer then go for it. the games you can run on windows on these hardware will pretty much run on wine on linux.
>half
Not even. Most of the shit available for Linux on Steam or GOG is 2d shit that everyone played 15 years ago already. Wine is fucking garbage for 90% of modern 3D games. Emulators fall into the same category as Steam/GoG because only hardcore nostalgiafags spend any significant amount of time playing SNES games or whatever.
Dual booting is so 1998.
All the cool kids use a NUC or something similar these days.
>get a cheap shit laptop or whatever
>install ganoo/loonix
>plug it into your second HDMI port on your monitor
>do internet shit on the linux machine and switch displays to the windows machine whenever you want to play games or use photoshop
learn programming
or how install gentoo
also you can install arch and never get bored fixing things
most vns made with renpy usually hve a linux version, if not, you can bretty much run them on Wine.
just because you use i3 and awesome dont mean the normal people using gnome or KDE will suffer the same.
>playing games when most made after mid 2000s suck and the video games industry has become more cancerous than Hollywood
Just dual boot or run a VM with a PCI passthrough (google it). I dual boot but rarely bother to boot into Windows as I only play Counter-Strike. Wine works with some games, but mostly isn't worth your time.
Anyway, you don't have to make an effort to 'switch' to linux at first. You just try it out, and think 'hey, this is pretty cool' and then you start using it more and more because it's really damn fun and then you realise that you have been sucked in and can never leave because it is too amazing.
Jerk off to CP like the rest of the loonix users on this board, dumbass.
why dont freetards just code some fucking games
Get a console.
Is this a real game? Jesus christ this is cringe worthy.
basically what i do,
i have a old laptop with linux for shitposting and browsing web and a capable desktop for gaming with windows, never felt the need to install linux on that machine.
learn reading comprehension
I'm not fucking joking, are you 10 years old?
There are plenty of games. Is this bait?
They don't code pretty much anything except the occasional fizzbuzz. It's not just games, but good software in general which is missing on loonix.
It's good as a server OS, because it's small and simple, but nobody in the right mind should use t as a desktop OS.
It has Minecraft.
What did I miss?
The part where you want gaymes on linux, but instead of searching what gaymes linux has make a useless thread about it to get some attention?
I think I got that part right.
Please, stick to windows, don't switch to linux, we don't need more tech illiterate using linux.
If you have a haswell or newer PC you can use gpu passthrough.
Install Gentoo
Linux has no game-
25% steam games, 35% GOG games. And 100% web/console games. That probably makes half the total library. You're also ignoring the fact that most windows exclusive games are cheap Japanese visual novels or generally crap. There are less than 20 good windows exclusives that have been released in the last 10 years, which is a number of games anyone can live without.
And you can still play all windows games with a KVM/passthrough.
>What will I do during my down time?
You'll be building drivers because Linux is for masochists
the KVM passthrough is a meme tho.
tried to run photoshop on win7 with passthrough on a ivybridge i5 and its slow as fuck, tried again on a i7 skylake and its still slow (the normal performance penalty of a VM)
Play other games, watch a movie or turn the computer off and read a book.
learn to passthrough
im a master of it nigga. tried several times on bot ubuntu and debian.
fight me.
>inb4 arch
you're doing it wrong nigger
teach me then bitch ass punk
>KVM
>slow
There are literal benchmarks and comparisons proving you wrong. The KVM is on most hardware only 3-8% slower. This includes read times from the disk.
well for me honestly runs terribly slow, when trying to run photoshop on KVM and passthrough (intel v-x and such is enabled on BIOS) runs slow, and i mean reaally slow. completely unusable
im on archlinux and i5 ivybridge if it matters
The same as everyone else. Masturbate.
Minecraft
Why wouldn't you just do everything on the windows machine?
Not everyone is American and wants their data being mined by NSA.
You did something wrong. Are you sure you passed through the GPU? Try installing operating systems on separate drives if you're using an HDD. HDDs have a terrible performance when running multiple operating systems because they rely exclusively on sequential reading.
>passthrough GPU,
obviously i passed through the GPU, tho im limited to a gtx550 so propably it aint that great.
>HDDs have a terrible performance when running multiple operating systems because they rely exclusively on sequential reading.
still, i cannot see the miraculous speed boost of kvm and passthrough
I doubt you can have a "speed boost" if you boot the device on the same HDD. HDDs are the biggest bottlenecks of modern computers. So unless you use 2 separate storage devices or an SSD both the host and the VM will have shit performance.
xonotic
just fap to traps :^)
retard alert
nice bait 5/8
Minesweeper
Buy an Xbox if you really need gaymes. PC gaming is becoming increasingly garbage for non-indie titles.
many games work on wine although it's usually some work setting it up
if you do things carefully and build up some useful scripts as you go, it could be pretty efficient (I still just dual boot)
A good chunk of internet runs on KVM-based virtual machines these days. I've been playing windows games and using Premiere on one for years and have never noticed a difference from native performance (except certain storage-intensive tasks). You're doing something wrong. Perhaps you enabled VT-x but not VT-d (or your mobo doesn't support VT-d).
lots of programming.
Monster Girl Gamu is on Linux, that's all you'll need.
i've been using boxes for that. which for my understanding uses KVM and hardware based virtualization.
and yes i have both VT-X and VT-d enabled on bios
>nvidia and radeon graphics drivers are a headache on linux.
I have not found that to be the case
yeeeaah except when the propietary radeon driver fucks with Xorg whenever it feels like.
Two monitors with a KVM master race
ok but then what's the fucking point of splitting all your shit between two operating systems
autism, thats the point.
>the year is 5298
>still no thumbnails in gtk file picker
>civilization 5
>trash tier
>not using Synergy
>we don't need more tech illiterates using linux
>no games.
that is just wrong. Look through your steam library and see what is available, you probably will be surprised by how many thing actually do have linux ports.
This is a fucking tragic image. It makes me feel sad. And angry.
Like, why not just put it out of its misery?
I don't think it is lupus.
>linux
> there are no games.
Factually incorrect statement. There are thousands. Literally.
Believe me, I want to completely switch to Linux as well, though, fucking Windows has too much developed for it to make me switch. And the Linux alternatives are a joke.
I find it ridiculously pointless to dual boot and switch between Linux and Windows. Seriously, WHY the fuck would I want to boot into Linux to browse the web, then reboot into Windows to do everything else. That's so fucking autisticly retarded.
The Linux community fucked Linux. Absolutely destroyed it by forking it into oblivion and making it a nightmare to develop for. Shuttleworth tried to popularize a specific build, but the only thing he showed was there's no money in developing for Ubuntu.
Emulated windows 10 with a hardware passthrough
Civ5 is good if you don't go for military victory, it's just too easy (unless you play multiplayer I guess)
Every time I try and play a civ game and go for a non-war route I just get my shit kicked in by someone who was going for a war route. Not just civ though.
You don't play your diplomacy right. Also you need to intimidate with military presence or the AI will fuck you up. They can count to 10 obviously.
Use VLC with default settings to get a better screen tearing effect.
Well, I'm very autistic then.
SC2 takes care of my gaming needs atm.
>dual boot
fuck that noise, I run linux as Host OS and windows in a VM with GPU passthrough works like a dream when setup properly without loosing whatever I am doing on my host session.
Can even bind the dedicated GPU back to the host OS but that requires a log out.
Fuck I love my current setup
>i3+XFCE Host OS
> Dual Monitor (portrait 1920x1200 always bound to host OS, landscape 4K always bound to dedicated GPU)
>Auto Select on portrait display (don't have to fiddle with monitor menu when I switch between iGPU and dGPU)
>KVM switch (ScrLk + numLK to switch M+KB between VM and Host OS)
>Switching between iGPU and dGPU as host OS main GPU is as simple as opening terminal and typing a single command or binding said command to an icon on panel or keyboard shortcut
>equally as simple to launch VM of choice.
>Passed through PCIE USB3.0 controller connected to front panel for easy access usb hotplugging to VM.
>Does VR and 4K 60fps and doesn't afraid of anything
Living the dream
Just start coding, games won't even excite you anymore. No real reason to switch if you won't.
>t. compulsive gamer
I vote for you to dual boot with good old win7
>install linux
>install VirtualBox
>instal Windows XP onto it
>install Raganrok Online (Nova RO)
I think the most cringeworthy part is that trigger warning. Sort of self defeating imho.
Depends on what games you like to play. All of my games are on Linux.
>captcha: woodman
nice.
so you can shitpost on Sup Forums telling everyone you use linux
i dual boot arch and win10
i like arch with gnome and custom fonts way more than win10, it's nice, it's smooth, it's fast, but after setting it all up, i have no reason to ever boot into it since all the software im working with is on win10, including visual studio which to this day simply has no competition.
Masturebating
I'm with the other guy, you should just stay away from Linux.
