does any one actually use these buttons?
Does any one actually use these buttons?
yes
all the time
no
I hate em. I accidentally click em and it takes me back on webites.
I have them macro'd or bound to other keys.
Copy and paste.
I would consider this if Linux and MacOS didn't already have this on "middle click to paste selected text".
yup.
really comfy when web browsing
I used to have them setup to go switch between tabs, used it all the time. I don't want to install my new mouse software so is just back and forth but I don't use it, I don't mind using the keyboard shortcut to go between tabs now.
When I use mouse - yes I do.
Usually I use keyboard only
I literally use them all the time
I use the backmost one. My shitty claw-hand grip requires my thumb to stay in place so I can't reach the forward one. I probably need to work on my thumb game.
Don't worry about it. No one really uses the forward button. The fact that phones only have a back, not forward, is proo# of this.
>yes
There are two kinds of people.
My stupid friend used to hate my Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1 because he was constantly hitting the back button by mistake.
Some people...
Also, yes. I use them all the time.
vivaldi has jestures so noe
Yes. Along with the scroll rocker buttons and hidden thumb rest button.
i have them both bound to the middle mouse button so I can open and close tabs and scroll. it works for pasting too
Absolutely. Bought one purposefully trying to avoid the 5 button meme. However, now that I'm using them, it's not so bad.
What kind of cave dwelling savages don't?
This is the only correct way to navigate back and forward.
no its not
Hmmm... No more buttons like these on scimitar...
only when I'm in web browser or games.
so 50% of all time
5 buttons minimum or you're a cave dwelling savage like the previous user said. Every time I have to use a browser without the back thumb button I'm driven to the brink of insanity. I don't know how I ever got along manually clicking the back button on the gui. I guess I used to use the keyboard shortcuts for it, but when i'm lazy browsing with mouse only, it's a godsend.
mapped to next/last track yes
Yes, always looking for a mouse with those buttons, only thing I found that fabricants interchange button functionality, in one mouse buttons are front/back=back/forward and other mouse is the opposite
I have that bound to workspace left and right
I mostly use them to change pages in my weeb comic reader.
Yes, when fapping, so I don't have to take my eyes off the screen to look for the right keys.
i hate that shit, sometimes i bump the keyboard and it hits back and fucks up where i am reading or typing my shitpost and then i feel discouraged from posting because i lost my steam
I remember one time when I had to replace my G400 and had to spend 2 days using some generic mouse without those button and I almost went fucking crazy. So yes, I use them all the fucking time.
i would map them to change workspace in i3
but i don't have such mouse
Actually not that often. I kind of just forgot they were there because I never really used them for anything else, and never really used them for their "intended purpose"
Yes, all the time. Can't live without that buttons.
More than right click.
Wouldn't use a mouse without them.
This
>clicking back
Do you people click the scroll bar as well?
Firing third and fourth weapon groups in mechwarrior.
Rebound them to left and right arrow keys to skip through videos. Added benefit of still working for web browsing if you hold the Alt key.
Yes, I use them for my DOTs.
I cant tell you how many times i wished phones had a forward button. i use my forward button all the time.
I bind them to shift and control
yeah
I even have two more such buttons I can hit with my index finger
I use one for sprint and the other for context-sensitive actions.
What's the point? You can't do very much with those keys alone, and if you're putting your hands on the keyboard they're easily reached with the pinky finger...
Literally all day long.
All the time. Best things ever.
Work in browser, in file explorer, in basically anything with forward/backward navigation.
how the fuck do you navigate a website with your keyboard
Not if you're jackin' it
Page Up/Page Down, space, tab, ctrl+f
what else do you want to do?
I used to then picked up one of these bad boys now I don't even use a mouse unless I'm gaymen
oh, the target ping and caution ping buttons? i use those so often people mute them
Vimfx.
Of course, especially since chrome disabled backspace key.
Phones are targeting tech illiterates though.
I do all the time, but I have them set up to Middle Click and Ctrl instead of forward/back.
Middle click is easier to do with your thumb, and ctrl is possibly the most commonly used mouse/key combo.
I've put backspace on the front one and enter on the back one.
backspace lets you correct spelling mistakes with just one hand and go back pages in the browser.
Enter is also really useful to have for some reason.
Can't live without them
I bind them to voice chat and melee/grenade.
All the time. My mouse has 2 and I am using them constantly. When my gf got a mouse she got the Logitech MK720(?) and it has 3 buttons on the side, plus the wheel can act as 3 too.
So jealous of hers.
Yeah, for browsing, then I have them mapped to left/right in visual studio and for games.
I forgot they were even there.
I use all of them.. I also need 2 more
Constantly, but my trackball unfortunately is without them.
Is it mech?
I use them everyday, they are comfy af on the rival 700.
what would you else use to go back and forward?
mostly back though
Rubber dome with mech like feel
Long travel and nice click
Yes, all the time for years now.
Back is auto run toggle, forward is heroic leap.
i bind the back button to space so i can bhop/strafe jump/ whatever easier while not having to give up scroll wheel for switching weapons. forward is never touched
I would if they weren't trash on the EC-1/2a
remap them to page up and page down
This is my mouse, it has a bunch of buttons including those side buttons. I have them mapped as CTRL+TAB and CTRL+SHIFT+TAB . Which I use to flip through tabs in Chrome.
no and I barely even use them in vidya
I use it as middle button because I don't like to click with the wheel
They're essential in my opinion.
i used to use them for >muh gaymin, "forward" was microphone and "back" was crouch
now they're broken tho :^(
