So I got a nice windfall of $8000 from cashing out my memecoins I mined in 2013 and I want to replace my aging shitpad with this. The 15'' touchbar 17 rmbp.
Should I just go for it? Are there better options out there for around $2500?
I still love my shitpad and I'll be passing it along with a family member. It's got a 1080p high gamut panel, the battery lasts like 8 hours and I got 4 of them so I never have to charge it.

You could also go on a holiday somewhere nice, somewhere that will change your perspective. Do something that expands your capabilities or worldview, don't just buy a ridiculously overpriced laptop so you can read facebook in 1440p.
I'd dump it all on two notebooks; not one.
First, get yourself a base model Macbook. It's a fraction of the weight, but still plenty of utility and the screen is nice.
Then, get a Dell Precision 7720 and max that fucker out. It's the best tool to do something productive.
Apple laptops are the best ones around at the moment. You can save money by avoiding the touchbar model though. I have it, it's probably better than the buttons but only barely so.
Apple laptops are shit, OSX is shit; you'd have to be crazy or insecure or both to buy this garbage.

I've had one for like 3 months and i fucking hated it.
the touchbar is a useless gimmick, it doesn't do anything that it did in the commercial (photoshop slider, daw or mixer sliders, stuff like that), it's just a garbage lcd function key row.
I like the boot time, i'll give it that, and the trackpad has great palm rejection but it's still so fucking big (and i have no idea why, i've never needed 2m2 of trackpad).
oh yeah, the keyboard ia so fucking clicky and loud compared to the previous model (i've also heard is worse, but i can't tell cause i barely used it, i had to plug my memechanical keyboard through my 80$ dongle)

I have nothing against it, if wouldn't be for the fucking application bar that takes up 1/3 of the screen while browsing and the fact that i can't use all of my music discs, external hard drives, and usb pen drives.
i had to give up on discs (i bought a cheap old disc player for 20$), i had to acces my external storage with my old craptop, and for the usb sticks, well yeah... fucking dongles.
Thank god i never had to use a hdmi port, i would've just strangled my self with a dongle to ease my pain and remorse for buying this shit
