I only have firefox open with a shitload of tabs. Is my computer a zombie for the botnet or are browser just that bloated at this point.

Your PC has cancer.

fuck off without python linux literally would stop working

doesn't seem related to firefox cpu usage.

If you have a shitty c2u then yeah pretty much what is expected of FF nowadays. Try midori

Do you run an adblocker?

I was getting slowdowns and mad CPU usage and then I installed an adblocker and everything was fine.

The media is trying to sell us malware by telling us it is for our own good.

midori is disfunctional grabage. I also have iron browser open, but this one almost doesn't use any cpu while idle.

what does my cpu core count matter in this? since firefox basically uses 1 cpu all for itself while actually idle, this is kind of serious.

Post your CPU specs and how much tabs you have open. Give us your version of FireFox. The latest version has multithreading and is really fast, faster than Chrome.

>adblocker
I do run an adblocker in browser and hostfile.

I'd use uBlock Origin (the best).

One of the things that can make Firefox slow is ads with videos. If the OP's CPU is bad at doing video decoding, then the CPU is to blame.

1,8 Ghz, 2 cores, 32-Bit....This has to do.

Firefox v52.2.0 and around 90 open Tabs, give or take some. .

rate

no ads. I have youtube open, but no windows actually have open videos.

In case you didn't get the memo, modern browsers are massive resource hogs.

It may surprise you but if you have shitty hardware Chromium (or one of it's debotnetized forks like Ungoogled or Iridium) work much better on them than Firefox.

Basically every website these days is actually some kind of bloated AJAX webapp that is constantly updating... Web 2.0 is hell on earth.

Windows does not have this problem. Unless it's a c2d. I had a c2d and it was laggy as shit struggling to even play a youtube video, reaching high temps and a good deal of cpu utilization. Moving to an i7-6700k fixed the issue.

Get Firefox v54.

who cares about fucking windows? if I'd use windows for surfing the internet I'd have other problems to be concerned about than how much Resources firefox uses.

maybe, but when I click the tabs they're not updated at all until I refresh so this might not be the case here.

But if it's a zombie, doesn't that mean it will hog all my cpu instead of just one core?

>Windows is immune to the effects of old hardware
k

Is there a way for you to see which tab it is that's using all this resource exactly?

...

not really. At least I don't now how.

Dude, you have 90 open tabs....

If there is a trojan inside your browser, the only way is to close every of your tabs and check if the browser is still using 50% of your CPU.

Users have been waiting for this feature for 10 years.

bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400120

That'll be a pain. I'd have to copy and paste all URLs to some text file or something to not lose them.

I see what else comes up, before I do this. If I really have to do it, I probably will stop using firefox after that and switch browsers to something that can at least save open tabs.

got me mad/10

Do you seriously not know that Firefox can restore your closed session?

Go in Preferences->General->When Firefox starts

Then select "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

actually, I'll just backup recovery.js in /sessionstore-backups and do this

this won't work when you close the tabs one after another.

> When Firefox starts
> implying it restores your session after you restart the browser

duh

>All that RAM and only eight threads.
You need more cores.

ctrl+shift+D
then you can right-click and open all of them if you want

okay, I identified it. it really was single tab.

pajeet pls go

Pajeets can't afford more cores.

Okay, here is the link that made firefox use up that much cpu:

kobatochan.com/everyone-else-is-a-returnee-chapter-129/

Maybe someone can find out why? I wouldn't know how. Otherwise.... don't go there.

Seems to be the problem

Sheeeeeeit we're already at 120 requrests

It does perform some weird shit, despite blocking Scripts and Frames from the uMatrix menu (page renders just fine) it refreshes every 5 seconds for god knows what reason

>kobatochan.com/everyone-else-is-a-returnee-chapter-129/

I opened then tab and my CPU usage remained the same as when it is idle when the page was completely loaded.

Maybe it was some random error.

This website is made with Wordpress. Garbage.

it's reproducable from my side. cpu usage goes up big time visiting the page. it's good again after closing it.

ayyy
