It's missing a cause.

Entry level are never a good idea. Just buy older higher tier cameras, live an eos 7D or so...

i will still keep my sl1.
enough for shits and giggles.

Have a (You).

But they shitpost even more than us so there's that. SL2 gets articulating screen and dual pixel AF for on sensor, but OVF AF is old as shit.

>Rebel
>White

I don't like that racist undertone.

>This
Never buy entry level ever

Nikon is superior

Give it back, Jamal.

>dont buy entry level

shut up /p/ you cant take good pictures no matter what gear you have

you can get a better quality camera from an older generation for less money. only a retard would buy entry level. canon an nikon churn out a new line every year or so to keep the shekels flowing, there hasn't been much progress in the tech.

There are improvements with newer bodies, for example wifi and NFC, video (quality, resolution, frame rates, AF), AF, display (size, resolution, articulation), and sometimes the newer sensors are actually better (no idea if it is in this case).

Sure, if it was me I'd get a second hand 7D for less money (could even get two for not much extra) but I understand that for some people the features of a newer body may be more appealing than sturdier construction, better controls, a secondary display, faster burst rates, etc.

Sony and Canon are the only companies that produce digital camera sensors.

The only thing that actually improved with newer generations is the canon dualpixel AF on the 70D, they're now using it for better models.
Apart from that my 60D beats any newer 750D or whatever they're at now any time of the day, for 200€ less

I was offered a 5Dmk2 for 500€ and shit, I was buying it if I wasn't broke as fuck, I hope that guy still has it cause now money are flowing but it was a month ago

>what is Toshiba
and few others too. stfu

sorry to forget mentioning that:
>canon buys sensors from sony
roflmao

>what is foveon

>The only thing that actually improved with newer generations is the canon dualpixel AF
If you ignore all the other things I mentioned then maybe.

> they're now using it for better models.
Which cost more money. Obviously an 80D is better than a 800D which is better than a 1300D. I thought we were talking about buying an older but higher tier model for the same or less cost, like a 50D instead of a 1300D.

Why did you put "this" in greentext?

What's wrong with buying entry? I'm new to photography and I was going to get a rebel

Cameras are a fucking scam industry without any innovation at all and hipsters keep falling for it lel.

Enjoy poorness

Thank (You).

No. Those companies all buy their sensors from either Sony or Canon.
image-sensors-world.blogspot.com/p/image-sensor-companies-list.html
What is it about Sup Forumstards and facts, anyways.

Anything over 3 megapixels just means longer picture processing time. This thing has TWENTY FOUR.

I like the high ISO value tho.

>Anything over 3 megapixels just means longer picture processing time

Some people have 4K displays or print their photos.

> (You)
>No.
Your link doesn't show that Foveon/Sigma buy their sensors from Sony or Canon.

I was gonna reply to him too but then I realised he was being sarcastic. Toshiba is also on that list as are many others who aren't Sony or Canon.

>noise-free low-light pictures are a scam
>big focal lengths are a scam

I should've realized, mr double hitler quads

>implying sony/canon has made a triple-layer image sensor

white = racist

>what is aptina, samsung, omnivision, fujifilm

There are rumours of sony working on a multi layer sensor but it's based on a patent so it's not sure they'll ever release anything.
I do wonder what will be next for foveon, I'm not too impressed by the Quattro line from what I've seen.

I bought a Canon Rebel EOS T6 bundle. Came with 2 batteries, wall charger, 18-55mm Lens, 75-300mm lens, and carrying case.

All came out ot $350 after taxes brand new. Did I done good?

bravo sir!

nice...but ill stick to my nikon p900 and searchin for aleeums.

Nothing, get a 600D.

why didnt you?

>WiFi and NFC
Why the fuck would you want this in a camera?
>AF
This hasn't changed significantly in any way, shape or form. You'll still be manually changing your focus most of the time.
>Camera display
We're talking about DSLRs, right? The camera tech that doesn't rely on the display for anything other than glancing at the pictures to confirm that your light and flash settings are correct, right?
>Sensors
Your only genuinely valid point. That being said, you'll get a used camera with a much better sensor that a new one for the same given price so it's irrelevant if you're not buying a seriously high end model.

>Why the fuck would you want this in a camera?
Wireless control and file transfer can be very useful to some.

>This hasn't changed significantly in any way, shape or form
AF has improved quite a bit (mostly at the lower end), especially during live view and video.

>You'll still be manually changing your focus most of the time.
Why? Yes there are times when MF is preferred or AF isn't precise enough but I wouldn't say that's most of the time. Not everyone shoots static subjects from a tripod.

>We're talking about DSLRs, right?
Yes. If you never have a use for live view then fine, but plenty of people do. Also one of the great things about shooting digital is the ability to view your images instantly and retry if you don't get the shot you want.

> it's irrelevant if you're not buying a seriously high end model.
The 200D has the same sensor as the 80D and the 7D shared its sensor with a bunch of the Rebels and the 60D. If the 80D has a better sensor than the 60D (not saying it's true, just hypothesising) then that means the 200D has a better sensor than the 7D.

Again, this may or may not be true but it's certainly possible for a current low end body to have a better sensor than an older high end body.

Its not a Panasonic or an Olympus

>>Into the trash it goes

use as toilet paper.

Fucking lucky ass

The exception to this is video. It's massively improved every generation.

That is not how photography works, entry level body is not worse than high end body, biggest difference in bodies are, easy of settings.

Glass is most important thing, it's better buy entry level body and high end glass than other way around.

There's not really anything wrong with Canon OVF AF, though. The on sensor AF is where it usually hurts the most. The biggest embarrassment is my D60. It can take over 10s to autofocus with some of my lenses in live view.

Where the fuck id you buy it from?

A 1300D is arguably better than a 50D only for the fullHD video support, for pictures I'd take the 50D everyday. Like I said there are innovations that are important in the long run, the fullHD support on the 550/60/5D was truly a revolution on the consumer/prosumer world, and the dualpixel af can be very important (I borrowed a 70D to make a short I wouldn't make without it, lots of focus changes on a glider). But the only thing that really changes on lower models like the 1300 and 800D is bullshit like WiFi and touchscreen, nobody really needs that, I don't decide what camera do I buy based on how fast can I post on Instagram with it

Yeah, but why spending 750 bucks when I can find older great cameras for way cheaper? That was my point.

Yeah, but you can get a possibly better sensor, much better build quality and better controls for the same price when you go for older higher end cameras instead of the latest entry level canikon
>wifi
>nfc
>video
>display
wew, you literally need none of those to take photographs
>af
The only reasonable one, but AF has been fast as fuck for more than a decade on almost every camera
Friendly reminder that Bayer arrangement it's the mathematically optimal way to arrange your pixels
4K is barely above 3MP, 3MP is enough for most print sizes unless you want to go fuckhueg

>2017
>mirror

>That is not how photography works,
the only way to take good pictures is to use a nice camera. photography is ~5% technique, 95% equipment used

you have to pay to play

>dslr

nice one grampa

>Sony-a6500-Review-2.jpg
>picture of an a6300
>shot on an a6000

i thought dslr was dead 5 years ago
who wants to buy a dslr when you can just get a fucking mirrorless thats 1/3 the size?

spend that money on a used fuji x series

>camera thread
>no one posting photos
what the fuck is this gay shit

as the others in this thread are saying: DSLR is dead already, go mirrorless

>wew, you literally need none of those to take photographs
There's a lot of shit you don't need, but it's nice to have. If you want to settle for the bare minimum then fine, enjoy your 10D.

>4K is barely above 3MP
Are you stupid? It's almost 3 times as much, just over 8MP.

Foveon is just a 3-layer filter slapped on an existing sensor, and it works like ass for anything above 400 ISO.
Fuji buys Sony sensors and slaps on their shitty X-Tranny filter. The other companies are completely independent though.
The SL2 still has their ancient 9-point PDAF with a single cross type AF point. All new Canon cameras have dual pixel AF for live view which is still a bit slower than OVF PDAF, but is more reliable and accurate.

>giving Canon and Sony money
>not shooting in MFT

from mah fuji x-t1

cute grills only

there's a whole fucking board for this

Pentax does it better.

is she just wearing a thong with upper body painted over?
