First day sysadmin job

>first day sysadmin job
>"our server room is Microsoft stack"
>welp
>RDP into AD
>It's full of random 3rd party desktop shit
>RDP into several different production servers
>same fucking thing

How would you handle this situation

I wouldn't because I'm not a disgusting fucking norm with a job, fuck you norm.

>build a soe
>start replacing servers with the soe

work on installing a Linux server, and start converting everything over, starting with ldap.

install gentoo

install gentoo

create a new network then slowly but surely move over to centos

>when you want to call someone out for being a normalfag but you don't wanna say the f word but all your friends on Sup Forums will make fun of you if you say "normie"
You're not fooling anyone.

>windows security
Get your ass ready because you gonna get fucked

install debian stable

install CentOS

I would install Gentop

I was in an organization that the only defense against threats was Super Anti-Spyware. Also, the delusional fuck wanted me to install Win server 2012 and run full ad on it "for redundancy" on a box that had 1 gig of ddr ecc memory. Just take that in.

>sysadmin
sorry not interested

I wouldn't care until something broke,

...

well he is fooling himself

thats the saddest thing about that kind of person...only themselves and others as shitty or worse will believe that.

That's highly dependent on how much responsibility you have. If you're the HNIC, migrate EVERYTHING to dedicated service VMs where possible, including using MSSQL on Linux instead of Windows for your DB server. I would, however, stick with AD over Samba.

How much do you make? sysadmins seem pretty underpaid.

20k

What state (if U.S.) or country?

20k a year? Is this really what sysadmins get paid? Rly?

It's a troll, retards.

Check if there is any critical flaw that could cost your job.
Are those machines facing the web?
Do they hold sensitive data?
How many of them can you afford to be down at once?

Transition slowly to CentOS/Debian.

Figures. What I've seen is something like $40k, which isn't that much better.
