I work in tech in SV as a pretty average white guy, and there's a grain of truth to all the complaints that have been making the rounds lately. There really are a number of guys who act like total asshats toward *everyone*, but take their behavior to a new level when it comes to women. I've seen highly educated, competent women constantly second-guessed by guys who are half as capable as they are. I've also seen situations where guys just couldn't keep their dicks out of the equation, no matter how inappropriate the setting. In a lot of ways, the tech scene out here is an utterly massive frat house.

So while some harassment claims I'm sure are bullshit, a good majority are not and should be taken seriously. Separating the two isn't the most straightforward task, but one can't just throw all the claims out the window because that means perpetuating the situation and doing nothing for those who really are suffering.

It's time to wake up and realize that mod and janitor positions have all been infiltrated by Andrew Anglins foot soldiers long ago. fourchan was always vulnerable to a hostile takeover by some special interest group if it was only committed enough.
