Tor

Is it worth it? Should I install? I am interested in privacy.

General discussion of tor or similar software.

no

enjoy getting on NSAs shitlist.

If you already googled it you're on a watchlist gl

yes

Just use Tails and also don't use it on your own network

you should be fine

Well fuck my shit up. I'm not going to do anything illegal, (maybe embarrassing if anything). I just liked the idea of not being tracked all the time.

Why?

Can I search tails without getting on a list?

>Is useful software I don't have to pay for worth it?

Anyone here use it?

you're on Sup Forums so you're already on NSA's shitlist

here's a link to Tails
tails.boum.org

yes

thanks!

Have this image I just randomly pulled from somewhere on my computer.

I have visited the page. It says Tails runs it's traffic through Tor. So what's the difference, why not just use Tor?

Because Tor isn't a OS and you can't boot it from a USB

I see. I started reading more about after I asked.

However, I'm not sure if I care about that. I don't need it to be portable for my uses.

if you care about privacy, VPNs are the key to that, if you want anonymity, that's what tor is for (or their hidden services)

I recommend going with a VPN that allows you to pay via gift cards to local stores (subway, walmart, cvs, best buy, etc) so you can buy them with cash to further your chance of being tracked

Like tor is a normal browser which can show whatever you've done on your pc, tails stores the cache memory in ram and everything gets reset when you restart pc(you can save data like bookmarks by encrypting usb)

encrypting isn't complicated btw, shitheads give up thinking "ohhh I've to work on this and know more" it asks you to enter a password.
you just enter a password when it asks for it, you have your own secure encrypted usb.

Feelings.

What's the point of paying for a VPN anonymously if you're connecting to it from your home computer?

>tor browser stores browsing history

It doesn't.

(Good) VPNs don't log activity.

There's no independent verification of who logs and who doesn't. "We don't keep logs" is just a marketing gimmick.
