I have seen no hard specs for this fucking buzzword factory

The marketing on this one is nausea inducing.

Its probably shit, made to make fast cash from retards like you OP.

Vaporware

>RED

So do I buy the phone, then the battery, then the lens, then the storage, then the screen?

That's the problem, these guys aren't your typical shitty company.

They know they make good stuff and they're dicks about it.

>Red
Better dead than...

>RED
>Fast cash grab on a limited run $1200 phone

Nigger this company sells quarter million dollar cameras (They sell them in pieces, literally. The body for $50k, lenses for $10k, mounts for $5k, high speed storage capable for recording 8K RAW for $1k per 120GB drive, etc) as a standard to movie studios, they don't need to turn over $30,000 on a scam.

I would with camera-fags and they apparently get wet over anything RED
I swear, the photo department decided to get a new RED camera that costed $32K-something dollars, and every (video) shoot is at least 1TB minimum. We had to completely redo our storage plan because they literally took up the entire storage of the company.

This is just a cash grab from a company that knows their consumer-base would east this shit up. Try actually getting a phone made by a company that makes phones.

They haven't made a phone to my knowledge, lots can shit the bed.

>sell Oakley (Yeah those gay sunglasses) to luxcottica
>decide to make cameras
>overtake hundred+ year old specialist such as Canon/Nikon in 2 years
>now a dominant player
>years later said specialists still can't put out a competing product

The problem is the market for (relatively) low cost standalone cameras. The only people outside film makers still buying standalone cameras now are shit like Youtubers trying to up their prouction values.

The market for "prosumer" video cameras is dead, hence why several makers with went bankrupt or sold off their assets in the past decade, normies just use their damn phone because "It all looks the same and I always have it".

So the only way to sell a $1000 video camera now is to have it be a fucking phone so normies actually bother considering it.

>only $1200
That's fucking ridiculous unless you're rich or need a camera that good. I wanna see that camera quality, sounds pretty cool.

That has nothing to do with it
Those are very specialized cameras meant to shoot extreme resolutions (8K) and then edit them down.

The sad part is, high profile studios might warrant something this expensive, it doesn't help the fag every camera-fag thinks they need this. I literally had our head tell me that most of the stuff he shoots gets a shitty filter put over it to make it seem nostalgic, defeating the purpose of shooting with a top-of-the-line camera. Yet despite this, he still claims he needs it because it's an 'industry standard'.

Let's put it this way--these cameras are so fucking sensitive that plugging and unplugging the USB from a tethered camera without properly ejecting it can fry the fucking camera.

>>years later said specialists still can't put out a competing product

Well maybe not Canon or Nikon but but Black Magic absolutely give RED a run for their money in the around $5000-$10,000 camera range.

Black Magic's URSA right now is absolutely the go to 4K Professional camera for the $6000 price range.

The Black Magic Studio Mini is also a league of its own for entry level 4K filming at like $1200

Unfortunately, RED basically monopoly controls any ultra high end level above $10,000 where movie studios start to take interest, there is essentially zero viable competition in the 6K and 8K camera market.

>Those are very specialized cameras meant to shoot extreme resolutions (8K) and then edit them down.

This thread is about a bogged down prosumer camera they're selling in a phone, not WEAPON 8Ks.

Bullsht you don't know shit about this product.

Companies lease their brand name to other people shit all the time. Even I as a private individual could make a "Red" aluminium case on a 5 axis CNC and put some Chinese phone guts and battery inside it and make bank (if I had permission)

I will be watching to see how this pans out...

The owner is shipping these out of his personal garage.

The owner is a billionaire btw

I want one so bad, I hope there's some giveaways, I'm sure MKB will have one at some point, maybe Lewis as well. Need to win one man.

But I'd rather spend that $1000 on a threadripper CPU

It's minimum a Snapdragon 835 obviously.

Better yet it's X86 with the ability to run full windows 10, but a man can dream

fuck it I'm ordering one

Based on what motherfucker ?

Pretty sure someone is paying for comments in this thread...

>Unfortunately, RED basically monopoly controls any ultra high end level above $10,000 where movie studios start to take interest, there is essentially zero viable competition in the 6K and 8K camera market.
i guess arri and sony don't exist

Top notch shilling bruv

>Unfortunately, RED basically monopoly controls any ultra high end level above $10,000 where movie studios start to take interest
The fuck are you talking about? Arri is way more popular than RED for people who actually want to make good-looking films.

>there is essentially zero viable competition in the 6K and 8K camera market
That's because their competitors realise those resolutions are pointless. The Arri Alexa is often regarded as the best film camera on the market and it only shoots 2K. The BMPCC costs $600, shoots 1080p and is used on sets alongside Arris because the image is good enough to match. Marketing companies shoot REDs for the same reasons people wear Calvin Klein: they want everyone else to know they can afford it.

I like pussy, so I will stick with my iPhone.

>TFW when you message a hot girl on your new titanium RED phone
>green text bubble
>ewww

Dropped !

>iPhone

Boy pussy?

muh nut

>Snapdragon 835
>x86

No, at best if intel don't go turbojew with x86 patents then maybe and so MAYBE microsoft will release a W10 x86-64 version (desktop) that do run on ARM systems. And even then knowing microshit there would be some random bullshit that would fuck you up like running only in some custom snapdragon chipset version even if the rest of the hardware is the same.

Also, if digits then they cheap it out and use some shady MediaTek crap chipset instead.

>shooting 6k on a phone

you look as stupid as this loli

I didn't really understand the need for this at first. But a good scenario for it is for livestreaming events in decent quality. I mean you can get an dedicated camera which is portable with great quality, but it really isn't easy to livestream and upload video on the go.

I guess the screen is more of a gimmick but does sound amazing. Porn would be awesome.

If i had money to blow I'd probably order it too

If it doesn't have NVMe, it's deader than DOA.

she looks sharp as fuck

Video technician here, it's their shit is not that good, it's OK tier for an industry where money are not a problem but quality and reliability are.

Basically they just got in at the right moment when the movie industry was seriously going the digital way and the only player for highest end cameras was Arri with ridiculous prices. The price for an Arri body was around 90/100k, they said "no we can do basically the same for 45k" and they got client. Their first gen cameras even had a ton of problems with sensors, but it's always the same for a new company, they sorted their shit with time. Blackmagic is trying to the same with the cinema cameras (raw for 2-4000€) and the URSA (raw with a serious body for 8000€) and even if their first gen shit has always problems and they're known in my field for low reliability and functions sacrificed for cheap they're seriously moving the low to mid budget market, I've yet to see an event with 500k€ or less of budget using something that's not blackmagic for video.

Tldr: RED is overrated

This phone may be a scam like the Hasselblad compact Panasonic

>a phone
>from a company that doesn't make phones
>from a company that doesn't make phone cameras
>massive marketing without any specs released
Outsourced/10.

Who is this semen demon

>buzzwords to ensnare normie "enthusiasts"
>Brandname shilling dialed up to the max despite the company not being related to mobile phone devices in any way
>more than $1k
>uses shitty gimmick like a good camera as the selling point
No better than those "sellfie" phones and shit. This is hack marketing 101, and like always, normies fall for it considering it'll make them different than other normies in a desperate attempt to appear hipster. Yeah nah, shill somewhere else

>shoots 6k
Finally a use for my 6k screen!

I like the design. But no specs, no interest

It sounds like some upcoming technology that every moms startup in the silicon valley knows about and they're trying to get to market first. A technology that shoots some kind of light into your eyes when you stare at the phone and it becomes AR/MR/VR without the need for glasses. That's pretty revolutionary and probably the same tech that MagicLeap has. MagicLeap is supposed to come out this year and it looks like these fags want to be first to market for a phone with the same tech.

That's all it is.

>5.7" pro hydrogen holographic display
What kind of bullshit is this?

Do none of you people read tech news?

spectrum.ieee.org/nanoclast/semiconductors/devices/worlds-thinnest-hologram-promises-holograms-on-our-mobile-phones

its gonna be made by bullit calling it right now

>first holographic media machine
In what way is this different from existing auto-stereoscopic displays such as on the 3DS?

More than likely it's exactly like what is used in the 3DS displays.

Ended up finding a description in the link. Mite b cool.

who?

nature.com/articles/ncomms15354

This is the holographic technology they're talking about, isn't it?

It's just a thinner version of the hologram on you credit card and it only works with a still image because there isn't a digital nano-array capable of producing the intricate patterns required for holography.

So are they implying that they've invented a Nano-Opto-Electro-Mechanical System for holography?
(Similar to the Digital Micromirror Devices that power DLP projectors)

That would be a major breakthrough in nanotechnology so I'm guessing all this hologram talk is just buzzword bullshit.

>5.7''
Too big
>quad speakers
>shoots 6k and ultra slow mo
>quality only "short of our professional $60k cameras"
>holo screen
Why the fuck do you need all theses features on a phone?
>only $1200
Fuck off

Wait, they don't even have a video that shows how this phone looks/works, yet they want you to preorder it for over $1000? Who the fuck would do that, other than really big tech channels on yt.

I'm interested in the screen, but
1) I have no idea what it actually is, so I'll want to wait until we have actual devices to look at
2) I don't need the meme camera, but I'll probably be paying at least a few hundreds just for it

I'd get it if I had money to throw away, and I mean really throw away.

>>quality only "short of our professional $60k cameras"
translates to
>tiny sensor
>shit dr
>28mm fixed lens with over-the-top 'attachments'
>mediocre colour reproduction
Why are RED such fucking con artists?

You proved him right with all those prices.
youtube.com/watch?v=3t1PQJmM8P4
>$1k per 120GB drive
Top keik

>put some Chinese phone guts and battery inside it and make bank

Pretty much. This is what's in their REDMAGs which costs thousands and it's how they make their bank. I wouldn't be so quick to judge that this phone has the majority done in house like their camera bodies.

Oh look it's that retarded Linus video again. Get into professional cinema gear and you'll realize that RED is actually on the cheaper end compared to companies like Arri or Panavision which you can't even buy. They made the market cheaper so even dumbshits like Linus can buy one with his following of retards.

good goy
