What's your preference for monitor panels?

What's your preference for monitor panels?
IPS? TN? VA?

I prefer VA
>dat contrast ratio

whats the point of contrast ratio if you have shitty color accuracy?

GW2760HL(what I use) has 100% sRGB color accuracy
isn't that good enough for gayman and vids?

If you have an HDR TV with a VA panel you would immediately see what incredible contrast does for color.

IPS, bought one a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since. The colors and viewing angles are incredible.

using gw2765. compared to my old monitor side by side, the input lag of IPS vs TN is noticeable. However, i'll take it in favour of not having shitty washed out or over saturated colours on TN

nigga everything has 100% sRGB
im talking adobe rgb here

Gamut ~= accuracy.

OLED is the correct choice

>muh burn in
If fucking smart phones can avoid this issue then monitors can too

NEC/Eizo tier IPS > Good VA > cheap run of the mill IPS

TN doesnt need to exist anymore.

A Good VA panel has colors like a regular IPS panel and better contrast and speed.
A bad VA panel is pretty much TNwith better angles.

IPS

IPS for monitors, VA for TVs.

VA has too much ghosting for video games, but it's better than IPS.

I use one of those 144Hz IPS panels.

VA has gorgeous blacks and contrast, but I can definitely notice a bit more ghosting in games. I do like that I dont have to deal with IPS bleed/glow on this panel though.

Why do I have shit burned into my phone panel then?

IPS. Dell P2715Q is the best monitor I've ever had. I don't play games though.

Interesting, my IPS panel doesn't really have any bleed or glow, but it does ghost.

Wrong faggut
Everthing better than shit has 100% sRGB

right now reading and gaming do not overlap in the monitor market

TN (gaming)
-200hz+
-gsync
-1ms response time
-strobing motion blur reduction
-bad contrast especially at low light

VA (reading)
-very high contrast at low brightness settings (50cd/m2) - most important
-none of the features from above

IPS (shit)

OLED (best)

because like it or not, you get use to colors being off, and unless you are in a professional area where accuracy is required, it doesn't matter, hell good tn panels are at the level of old normal ips ones.

What you can't get use to is contrast ratio, of everything on a monitor contrast is the one thing you never just get over. going from 144 to 60 sucks, but you can deal with it, going from 60 to 30 is a nightmare but if you're not gaming it's not the end of the world, the color accuracy is shit, after a week of use you dont see it, but contrast, everyone else is telling you about this game that plays with shadows and darkness just right, but all you see when you look at it is a black screen because your monitor cant contrast.

due to how my back is I have to sit at odd angles to not hurt it, and my tn with just a bit off center angle a game that is dark becomes a black screen, and you know what's sad, we have one of the best ips monitors and it does the same fucking shit, it just doesn't shift the colors, it only shifts the contrast.

One of the reasons I want oled so bad is because even the worst ones don't fuck with contrast until you are at a 70~ degree angle, color might to some extent earlier, but contrast does not.

Im considering getting an oled tv as a monitor, there anything I need to be aware of before I go in?

my monitor has 100% srbg, I think 70% adobe rbg, but because of the panel type white is more yellow.

granted something you get use to. to the point you don't notice the tint.

viewing angles are shit, unless you are dead on center the contrast fucks itself.

oled is what everyone claims ips to be.

I have shit burned into my monitors top area where all the menu options are

no panel is safe from burn in, they are just burn in resistant. It's not like when shit first came out and having some porn frozen on the screen for an hour or so would burn in.

Oled is good until you get burn in and horrible black ghosting

TN and IPS as old as fuck tech that are still kept alive by greedy companies.

OLED will be perfect, but it still needs more R&D before all the compromises are ironed out.

the compromises that you make with oled are small enough that if a cheap 24-27 inch 1080-1440 was made, as in 200-300$, you could buy it, then replace it with the good one when that one dies

Isn't the internet great. It allows shitheads like yourself to say shit that would, in real life get your head cracked open.
Hopefully you'll suffer the same fate fucking cunt.
Please turn to the loaded gun in your drawer, put it in your mouth, and pull the trigger, blowing your brains out. You'll be doing the whole world a favor. Shitbag.
I would love to smash your face in until it no longer resembled anything human, faggot.
Die painfully okay? Preferably by getting crushed to death in a garbage compactor, by getting your face cut to ribbons with a pocketknife, your head cracked open with a baseball bat, your stomach sliced open and your entrails spilled out, and your eyeballs ripped out of their sockets. Fucking bitch
I would love to kick you hard in the face, breaking it. Then I'd cut your stomach open with a chainsaw, exposing your intestines. Then I'd cut your windpipe in two with a box cutter. Hopefully you'll get what's coming to you.
Fucking bitch I really hope that you get curb-stomped. It'd be hilarious to see you begging for help, and then someone stomps on the back of your head, leaving you to die in horrible, agonizing pain. Faggot
Shut the fuck up faggot, before you get your face bashed in and cut to ribbons, and your throat slit. You're dead if I ever meet you in real life, fucker. I'll fucking kill you.
I would love to fucking send your fucking useless ass to the hospital in intensive care, fighting for your worthless life.
I wish you a truly painful, bloody, gory, and agonizing death, cunt.

Any particular reason VA panels are less common?
The contrast OP speaks of is supposed to be great for movies and vidya.
It would be nice if there were more since they'd be cheaper than OLED.

>100% sRGB
>yellow tint
Kek, enjoy defective panel

Take note that very high contrast is bad for eyes

congrats on not understanding shit.

OLED monitors can't come soon enough. My Vita screen is still fucking gorgeous even after four years of use.

very high contrast is not bad for your eyes

things that are bad for your eyes:
-blue light
-PWM flickering
-low contrast - this forces you to turn up the brightness to read text
-using incorrect brightness on the monitor

there is probably more but those are the main ones

VA panels are more expensive to produce and have lower response time and refresh rate than IPS and TN

IPS > OLED > CRT > VA > TN, t.b.h.

The day that happens is the day I finally get rid of my CRT monitor.
