I'm moving across country in a couple of months. I need to move my hdds. If I take them on the plane how much harrassement will the tsa give me? Last time I was nearly late for my plane because the tsa questioned me for 40 minutes about a c++ book in my bag. I dont need the hassle but dont want usps to break or lose my shit.

What do?

>c++
They probably thought you would do a murder-suicide.

UPS or FedEx in a priority box. Then bubble wrap them individually. I wouldn't let the tards at USPS ship a rock.

Save the money shipping and just take a train.

If you're not crossing an ocean there's no need to put up with the shitshow that is air travel. Drive. It'll take longer but no TSA retards will fuck with you and no baggage or package handlers will kill your drives

I've taken like 9 HDDs with me and they didn't seem to mind. Maybe you look like a potential threat or something.

>how much harrassement will the tsa give me?
Depends on what lists you're on. I wouldn't travel anywhere without military grade encryption tbqh.

>tsa questioned me for 40 minutes about a c++ book in my bag

That's nice. Pigs that barely passed 5th grade asking questions about C++. These conversations always lead nowhere, if you explain something to them they won't understand and if you tell them they're not capable of understanding you just committed a crime by insulting an officer.

>r u sain' am stiupid er samthin'

Stupid fucking pigs.

>If you're not crossing an ocean there's no need to put up with the shitshow that is air travel

I would argue that even if you are crossing an ocean it's still worth avoiding the airlines and taking the boat.

> the tsa questioned me for 40 minutes about a c++ book in my bag

Why? And what questions did they ask?
Did they give you any reasoning for the questioning?

What the book was. Why did I have it. Whats a c++. Had to describe what it is for 10min Why do I have a book about computers if I dont work for a computer company. Why are you trying to learn computer programming. Shit like that as they took everything out of both bags. What ever it is about the book sent a bunch of red flags off.

do they even still have those?

Pack your HDDs in enclosures with insanely soft packaging so it doesn't jostle and ship it. Cheap and worth not dealing with the TSA.

Probably because of the "Primer Plus" as a subtitle. Could've been seen as a bomb in their eyes.

If you are white you will be ok

LLAAAAAANNNDDD OOOFFF TTTHHHEEEE

FFFFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ROAD TRIP!

>Whats a c++.
Should've told them it's heavily used by the military ( it is ), that should've made sure you never got on a plane again.

>Why do I have a book about computers if I dont work for a computer company.
This is hilarious.

>Why are you trying to learn computer programming
You should've have told them that 'the drive to learn new things is the reason why some are successful while others spend their lives in an airport, checking bags all day long while asking stupid questions about shit they don't understand.'
Dumb pigs.

It's mostly for cruises these days but yeah.

Get a pelican case for $40 bucks senpai.

Is it better to have one larger capacity drive (like 4TB) and trying to explain it, "I'm a video editor", or a bunch of smaller drives, "I'm a poor video editor".

Just drive, man.

Wow. Just... wow. That's just a whole other category of disgustingly stupid.

> Why do I have a book about computers if I dont work for a computer company

Jesus fuck America.

Don't feed him false information like that. If you are rich then they won't bother you.

Reminder TSA is a joke and the security they provide is just an act

> Why are you trying to learn computer programming
> tsa
What actually the fuck, why they even care

I think it was Bruce Schneier that said a while back that every single dollar spent on the TSA was completely wasted, and that the only two things that have improved air security since 9/11 are locks on cockpit doors and passengers knowing that in the event of terrorist attackers on board, they have to fight back.

>live in land of the free
>try to get on a plane
>get shot

>Whats a c++. Had to describe what it is for 10min

>tfw it was actually a staged interview for a trendy & hip stealth startup

Holy fuck, are TSA agents really that dumb or are they just putting an act because the rules say so?

>Things that never happened

>>live in land of the free
>>try to get on a plane
>>crashes

>It's OP

Ship UPS or FedEx. Make sure your drives are encrypted and you have backups.

ITT: idiots taking OP's bait.

C++ can be used to write a cryptolocker virus.
That's like carrying a book on making bombs, you're just asking to get cavity searched.

>Dumb pigs.
im sure that attitude wont lead to more problems

but continue, cause obviously you're so very smart

>Why do I have a book about computers if I dont work for a computer company.
the correct answer is "because I want a job at a computer company"

Trains are equally as expensive and drastically slower in the US. Passengers trains suck so much. We used to be #1 in the world up until the 50's in the train department.

Fuck.

Not any more.

If you aren't leaving/entering the country, they shouldn't hassle you much at all. Of course, if you know the address that you'll be staying at, you could just encrypt your shit and mail it.

Mail them to yourself, book rate.

Only Amtrak line that turns a profit is the one between DC and NYC, everything else survives on subsidies.
