I like the default Latex font, Computer Modern, I think it's called. Mostly for the liberal use of ligatures and nice italics.
For monospace fonts my choice is Input, I find that it's very well aligned and readable, a nice touch is that room is left for certain characters to have a tail that descends below the baseline, which isn't especially common for programming fonts. Every other font has had small niggles for me, whether it's generally poor balance or a couple of ugly glyphs.
