Which non-GUI applications do you use and think that are better than their GUI variants?
Best CL applications
rtorrent
Deluge master race reporting
cmatrix
yep, we have a winner
i've been learning sc-im. I love spreadsheets for finance and tracking all kinds of personal data. Previously used google sheets... It's a slow transition but one I could see myself sticking to.
I like CMus. It's a simple CLI music player. Does everything I need it to do and nothing to piss me off.
cowsay is better than any gui talking cow app I've tried.
youtube-dl for downloading video from browser, Somehow I'm finding it to be more convenient than using browser addon
ffmpeg
megatools
Too bad mega got kiked with that download limit :(
ncurses saved my life
youtube-dl
MC is very comfy. It's a shame that there is no way to preview images like in ranger
vim
There will never be a master race of faggots.
Chocolatey, Exercism
mpv
IRSSI IRC
* ncdu

You seem very autistic. Never heard about Excel ?
CL is for hipsters

i really enjoy mpd+ncmpcpp
Probably vim
I kind of need a simpler alternative, definitely will try that
git
Every GUI interface for it is shit
IMO GUI=TUI, so I'll be talking about actual cli.
Anything involving file management. (for me, plan9 utils)
Anything involving version control. (git,hg,etc)
Text editing (for me, ed is the one superior to gui)
Program installation/package management (make; brew)
Video manipulation (ffmpeg)
Multimedia playing (i.e. I prefer mpv file than using open in program menu)
IRC (ii, coreutils)
Document making (troff)
Transmission-cli
pacman > any GUI store
ranger > everything except maybe dolphin
cmus > everything except foobar2k
vim+latex > emacs, word etc
also irssi, mutt (although mutt is kinda arguable too)
>Which non-GUI applications do you use and think that are better than their GUI variants?

l33t h4x0r detected
emacs for every goddamn thing

ranger is better than any GUI filemanager I've used.
>ncdu

gnunet
>no UTF-8 characters
what a joke
Fuck GUIs for package managers makes people lazy about package managing
Not better, but elinks is actually really good.
I used only CLI for a few days and the number of websites that work well with it surprised me. Sometimes it was better than in Firefox (don't have to load or render lots of stupid graphics), usually the worst thing about it was having to scroll past a few pages of links that are usually in dropdown boxes. I do have a few complaints with elinks, like not being able to save open tabs and quit, but I like it.
Shame it hasn't been updated since 2012 or so. Do any other CLI browsers compare?
magit?
