1920x1200 laptops are nearly non-existent

>1920x1200 laptops are nearly non-existent
>2560x1600 monitors are $1000 business monitors

Where did it all go wrong Sup Forums? How did glorious golden-ratio 16:10 die?

Stupid fucking people who don't realize the relationship between resolution and aspect ratio. The niche crowd who wants 16:10 and 21:9 or 4:3 dont provide enough support for it financially so companies streamline their offerings for the typical lowest common denominator bullshit.

16:10 and 16:9 were both marketed as "full HD" so retards did not know the difference
1080p is cheaper to manufacture
Videos are 16:9

When Part 7 ended.

>why 8:5 ded?
>posts 16:9 image
you just answered your question

>anime killed 16:10
damn

8:5 wasn't wide enough

>8:5
stop saying that

why?

When does it matter?

In 2006 my XPS 1710 laptop had a resolution of 1920x1200.

I would have never thought at the time that in more than 10 years the average laptop would have a much lower resolution.

Side note, that laptop was awesome.

t. totally not a dell shill

>2004: 1050p
>2006: 900p
>2008: 800p
>2010: 768p
LITERALLY THE FUTURE

Sure, for an 11 year old laptop.

meanwhile for smartphones it's the opposite

K but like who cares

At least you can buy a 1920x1200 screen fairly easily, the greater shame is that 4:3 is almost totally non-existent (I think there's 1 Eizo monitor).

It was the best ratio to begin with, my only hope is that we will one day return to it, now that taller screens are becoming popular on high-end laptops.

Because it's autistic

and that is a problem how?

It's not dead if you're on Mac, fucko.

Underrated reference of originality.

There are lots of 2880x1800 laptops.

>2011: 1800p

>literally the only argument for 16:10 is muh golden ratio pseudoscience
>stupid tards who can't even calculate an inverse in Z/nZ pretend to be math PhDs when defending their meme

Bitch. I compute modular inverses for fun.

>look up 1080p monitors, decent price
>look up 1440p monitors and 1080p144hz, both horrendous prices

and

>look up 400-800$ laptops
>all 768p
>1440p+ are all >1000$

You would think that these things might have actually changed in the last 3-4 years

It can do this

I bought 1920x1200 only so the vertical res fits my other 1600x1200

it's great anyway, you can run 1080p shit windowed and still have some space for the taskbar left

t.1366x768 cuck

>tfw you're reading this on a 1920x1200 monitor you bought this year
Just go to Amazon and stop shitposting

OR, you can set a custom 16:10 resolution.
3456x2160 on your 4K monitor and disable screen scaling.
VoilĂ , a 16:10 monitor is born.

>its 16:12 user you piece of shit
>what the fuck is a 4:3

Play a 16:9 video in almost-fullscreen but still with that task bar reminding you that you are using the worst OS ever?

Yeah, 16:9 is better.

That OS has done more work in the hour since I posted than you have all year.

You can put your subtitles on the letterbox and not have them obstruct the video, but nobody thought about using that to market 16:10 monitors.

And did I even mention that you get a bigger 4:3 picture on 16:10 while maintaining the proper aspect ratio?

16:10 is shit
It's an approximation that fails miserably
Use 4:3, it is an elegant combination of 2 3-4-5 triangles
Exact Pythagorean triple > approximate golden ratio

Wow you sure got me

What has you bad math to do with the field of vision of a human?

not him but pic related

?

What does this spiral, with the Fibonacci numbers written on it, have to do with the human field of vision.

Well you used your eyes to look at it right?
Check and mate.

Thanks for activating my almonds.

I have one of the Asus 16:10 pro art monitors, and I just use VSR to scale it up to 2400p.
Absolutely no need to buy those $1000 monsters.

>laptop resolution
>p

stop that

p stands for progressive scan

laptop screens are progressively scanned
